Love Yourself by Loving Your Pile

So, it's February and that means... more games! I'm married, so Valentine's Day holds a special, "We're not going to get each other stuff" pact. Some of us got off to a great start in January, and then there was my piss poor performance. One end of the spectrum to the other.

A quick reminder, in order to be considered "Pile of Shame" the game needs to be at least three months old. Otherwise, it's just a new game you haven't gotten to playing yet.

Let's get on to the games!

This month's Pick of the Pile is

"In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly Utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted.

You are a runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story." (mirrorsedge.com)

Parsing the old thread, I only see Quintin_Stone having declared anything specific for February. If you've got something you want to carry over, post it here and I'll add it.

I'm not sure what's going to grab my attention this month. I think I'll hold off a few days before declaring something I'll never finish.

Glad to see my partner and I aren't the only ones who follow this rule.

I have nothing to submit this month. I've consistently failed to finish my pile games the last 3 times I've submitted, so I'm going to let them simmer a bit longer.

This is tough. Is Armored Princess too ambitious in a paltry 4 weeks? Assuming I can play maybe 5-6 hours a week?

Yeah, I think GTA4 will be enough for now. I'm not sure how much of the main missions are left. Plus February is a short month!

Mirror's Edge for me - playing on the 360.

I am going to have to go with Mass Effect 2...bought it about an hour ago.

I'm not sure that I'm going to have any pile games this month. Borderlands and Mass Effect 2 are going to take up most of my time. I guess Red Faction can stay on my pile - if I can drag myself away from the new and shiny.

I'll carry over GTA IV -- The Lost and the Damned. I played through about half of it back in December, before getting distracted by the new and shiny.

Seriously, though...I'm feeling good about this month...

Offsides. Five yard penalty, repeat for filthy skimming. (Check the original post, EdemaKNN -- at least three months old...)

Ooh, ooh...I'd wait for Hemidal to verify, but I think Borderlands is eligible -- it was my October purchase, so it could very well be eligible for this month!

That has me far more excited than I should be, though I don't think I'll be dipping into it. Haven't touched it since Dragon Age dropped.

My bad. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to what I was reading...just excited about a new game.

So say we all.

(Hence the thread.) Just pick something that's been kicking around for forever...come on...you know it's gotta be something -- half finished Red Faction? Stuck on a mid-level boss in Batman? Still need that A-Class license in Burnout? -- and commit to it, and then you've got it.

It's fun breaking promises.

(And for the record...yeesh, I tapped into a tiny, tiny percentage of my own pile for my examples in the above paragraph...that's frightening.)

Ugh. I don't even know where to begin! So many choices. I'll give a few days before making a decision. I plan to avoid adding more RPGs to my current playlist.

I'm in this month. Replaying Dragon Age, but I'm going to go through Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia at the same time.

Borderlands is pile legal, right? I give up on Blood Bowl.

Put me down for The Witcher, It needs to happen!

Tropico 3, just picked this up in the Steam sale and have only played the tutorial.
Bioshock...still. Waiting to get a better system so I can beef up the graphics.

Loaded my save on Crisis Core: FF7 again the other day and I still really enjoy playing it, so put me down for that. Maybe this time I'll finish it with the help of pile-thread! I've got far too many great games to play at the moment and my game-playing time seems to diminish week-on-week. Must focus!

I'm in. I've got:

360

Golden Axe: Beast Rider
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Lost Odyssey

PC

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Risen
Drakensang

I'm going to aim to complete the 360 titles and Vegas 2. If i do that i might get around to finishing Drakensang before the sequel/prequel is released (i think) next month.

Armored Princess is probably a 40 hour + game. You'll be pressed to finish it in a month, unless you get some solid weekend time in.

Or you can use the pile as an opportunity to get a good chunk of the game done and carry it over.

Alright - I failed HARD last month, but I'm going to do better this time around. I'll be aided on the DS games by a business trip this week, and the other games are already underway with one exception (Mass Effect). So, here we go:

Mass Effect - PC
Retro Game Challenge - DS
Shiren the Wanderer - DS
A Boy and his Blob - Wii
Mirror's Edge - PC

That looks like a lot, but aside from Shiren (which can be tough!) I think it's realistic.

King's Bounty, PC. I know I'll never finish it by month's end but it's time to start whittling away at the holiday Steam list.

Borderlands is good to go this month. I believe the list is updated, but as always, if I missed you let me know.

I'd like to carry over my shame: Red Faction: Guerrilla.

I would also like to cross off that shame, since I finished it last night. I was a whole 20 minutes from getting it last month... ugh. I think I'm going to get deep into ME2 and enjoy that guilt free while I try to decide what game to pick from the pile, there a quite a few...

Well, I was going to put Overlord II on here, but as I loaded it up last night, I realized I had quit at the point where it quit being fun anyway. A quick scan through a FAQ confirmed that playing the last hour of the game would just be a point of pride.

So, I narrowed it down to Psychonauts, and Mass Effect, and I think I'm going with Psychonauts on the PC. I'm having bad tech issues right now, but if I can suffer through it, I think I can get back to the game I was loving, and finish it this month.

Ya missed me! Borderlands.

Alright, this time I am going to say Tourchlight.

pseudointellectual wrote:

I wasn't sure if you were pointing out it should be eligible, or you were adding your name to it.

Either way, it's fixed now.

I want to get through Mirror's Edge on 360, and try for at least one of the Halo games.

Last month shaming individuals who don't complete their goals was discussed, is there some asterisk system for those who carry a game over as I did or do we let go free and clear?

Carry-overs are free and clear. It's the giving up we shame around here.

Any one in particular?
