Blur Catch all

Getting this catch all started, I can't say anything until the NDA is lifted but I personally think this could be a contender for the Burnout fan base.

Not too obscure I hope?

Am I confused? Is this a different game from Split/Second?

Which is the one that lets you blow sh*t up? From the demo I played of that last year, it definitely had the Burnout combat-racing vibe to it. Plus, you get to blow sh*t up

It's a different game than Split/Second, but they do seem very similar: arcade racing, sh*t blowing up. The previews I remember favoured S/S (that's the one where the air traffic control tower comes crashing down on the track IIRC), but I'm open to both. Blur is made by Bizarre, so there's some pedigree there, while S/S is made by Black Rock (developer of Pure).

I think the similarities between blur and split/second end at 'they both have cars'. Split/Second is a visually stunning and amazing fun. Blur is a retarded cousin of Mario Kart. At least that's the impression I got from playing them at E3.

Most of the press impressions I've heard echo everything d3p0 just said.

That's what I had gathered from the previews as well (awesome vs. retarded cousin), I just wanted to be more diplomatic about it. I've got a big heart though, and a perpetual sunshine-y optimism!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Bizarre to prove everyone wrong and for Blur to be great (I love the PGR games) but the fact that people who actually have hands on playtime with Blur insist over and over, time after time, that it's pretty bad doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

PS: I don't mean to piss on anyone's parade- that's just the impression I got from what I played last summer. I too was a fan of Project Gotham.

Sounds like a 360 beta will start on 3/1 (Monday). If you want to get in you just need a (paid) fileplanet account. Definitely willing to give it a shot. Though, I hate the idea of having to pony up $6 to play a beta.

http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions... it doesn't explicitly say it's for Blue - but people that have signed up say it mentions (not so subtlety) that it will "blur your mind".

I just want a Burnout to make Burnout 3 again, and allow split screen. I loved the long carefully crafted tracks, instead of the open world.

Once the pub beta starts I'll give my impressions of the game.

15 minute "Quick Look" from Giant Bomb

Interesting.

Also, if you've got a Giant Bomb Accout, 1000 beta keys: www.giantbomb.com/blurbeta

I feel like I should have a bit more faith in Bizarre Creations' games... (PGR/PGR3 alone made me buy Xbox and Xbox 360) but I just can't seem to get any excitement going for Blur.

Need a demo.

Shack has some, too.

You can also get into the beta if you have an account with fileplanet.

I do, and still haven't bothered to even get in. I have no idea why.
