Post a Picture - Something You Created!

Not my doing, but a friends. He took a military ammo box and created a game server. He also modeled the Half Life 2 logo.

First off, that ammo box case is amazing. I always think it's cool when people make just regular stuff into a pc case, but that goes beyond the regular stuff bit into the really cool!

It reminds me of the Wall-E case someone made..

Gah! White text on a gray background makes me angry. And red for the reference words is even worse! Red and gray should not be used in conjunction with text. It's basic typography. I couldn't read past the first paragraph. Was there anything worth reading in that typographic trainwreck?

Edit: Wait a minute. Is there supposed to be and image formed by the red words?

Yeah the Ammo Box is pretty sweet as well as the Wall-E case. I have been wanting to build a full face helmet pc, but just have not had the time or desire to start it.

Party at someone's house?

Hey kids. I'm a looooong time lurker. I found this topic and thought "Finally! A topic to which I can actually contribute!"

I've been a professional artist and animator for 6 years and it dawned on me last week that I had never indulged in the artsy-gamer tradition of fanart. I decided to remedy this immediately.

Demon's Souls was my favorite game of 09 and I had yet to see it get the fanart treatment.

Very nice, sir! (ma'am?)

Do you have a site so I can subscribe to your newsletter?

[Edit] Ah, the unexpected bombsfall.com.

Sir! And yes, you can find my stuff at my site and the blog linked on that site. I should also probably plug the independent animated series my wife and I are producing viewable at the link below until I figure out how to embed video here.

Beautiful! Demon's Souls is almost a killer app for me for the PS3, and this makes me want it even more. Are these digital from scratch or do you scan in assets?

Thanks so much! These are made of Photoshop + Wacom Intuos3 + like 40 minutes maybe. I did them both on saturday while obsessively refreshing my Dell order page. Finally replacing this 'ol workstation.

Totally adorable work, It makes me happy to see people doing stuff like this on their own.

Whoa, just watched a bit of your animation. Wow, your aesthetic is beautiful. What do you do your animation in? Do you build your assets in Illustrator and then import them over? ... Let me back up: what's your process, briefly?

Also, 40 minutes!? You animators are so speedy, makes me jealous.

Hey bombs, I'm just about to get a Intuos 4 tablet - do you happen to have one? I've been reading about the crankiness of many users with their pen nibs getting worn down way too quickly, and I'm not really sure if it's a *real* issue or not.

7inchsplit wrote:

I'm an After Effects user who started in Flash back in '04. I still use Flash for traditional frame-by-frame work because I love the timeline and the brush. I use Photoshop and Flash for some asset creation, but most of what you see in that episode is created completely in After Effects. I'd have to go shot by shot to point out what is and what isn't made in AE, but I'd say a good 85% of it was. For example, Ilya and Tadly were both constructed completely in AE. The fake newspapers and maps and everything were made in Photoshop. Every single part of the Fox and Goat story were made in AE. Anyway, it all gets fed back into AE where it is animated. Many weeks later, you have 5 minutes of cartoon! There's obviously much more detail I could go into, but that's the gist of it. I'd be happy to field any specific process questions, though!

I don't yet have one, will probably be grabbing one when I get my next check in the mail. I have also heard much crankiness... I'm very accustomed to the slick Intuos3 surface but the paper-ish surface seems to be where they are going so I figured I'd better learn to work with it. I've heard differing complaints about the nibs wearing down, I'll have to see for myself but I will confess it does worry me. As you can see with my drawings I do a lot of little dashes and dots and splotches, which involves a certain amount of kinetic force which might expedite the death of many nibs. We'll see. I'll probably be able to give a decent review in a month or so.

This was taken about 3.5 years ago while helping my son (in the middle) with a science project. On the left is a torsion powered catapult, on the right a trebuchet.

Lol that picture.. I was like, 'Why is his foot circled? I don't get it'. And then I realised it's actually something he's holding :D.

Heh heh. Yeah, it's a hula hoop he was using as a target circle.
