Neptune's Pride, free browser-based MoO/Spaceward Ho geared toward Diplomacy

Not sure how they assign galactic credits but I have only 11 right now

From the screen where you buy galactic credits:

Third Place wins 1 Credit, Second Place wins 5 Credits, and First Place wins 10 Credits

I did... but I don't know if I have the stamina for another. If we get to the point where we are one short I suppose I'll jump in, I'll just not start anymore games.

The game is fun but after three games I feel like I've seen everything. If they added some additional strategic upgrades for star defense or something else it might be worth it.

I should be able to commit to that, Copingsaw, very generous of you. The beauty of this being a browser game is that I can hop in at lunch times from work. Just have to give myself reminders for the weekends!

.... In fact, upon further consideration, if we can a list of at least 8 people who want in on a game and will commit 10 minutes a day for several weeks, I'll spring the $20 to buy the galactic credits for the game.

If you want in, shout out!

List so far:

1. Copingsaw
2. Pignoli

After listening to the latest Idle thumbs I'm interesting in trying this out. Anyone still playing?

I just heard about this on idlethumbs also, joined my first game and waiting for it to start.

I'm still playing this game after several months. On maybe my fifth or sixth game by now. Best browser game I have ever played. Simple and effective combination of strategy and diplomacy in a game that only takes a few minutes a day to play.

I don't know if it's my personality, but I found myself checking in constantly to try and detect any hint of an incoming attack or advantage. I had to stop playing because I felt compelled to continuously check a game that moved at a snails pace.
I will agree that it is the best browser game I've played in a LONG time.

Anyone in a game looking for a player?

I just join a free game that still has two open spots. The game is "Gamma Ksora (FREE)"

This is my first game too. We can go down in flames together

Interesting. Browser based laptop fun intrigues me.

Dang, missed out on that one. Anyone else want to get into a game with another total noob? I just joined Sigma Dschubba. Still 5 spots left.

I'm gonna try this out. Just joined Phi Rigil Kentaurus and it has 1 spot left.
QUICK, someone join and team with me!

So, I started a game of this a few months ago and didn't log in after the first move. (Yeah, I suck, but someone ate up my planets for free!!) However, after listening to the Idle Thumbs discussion of this game, I think it clicked with me. To me this game seems like it must be very similar to the PBEM games of Diplomacy that sucked me back in the day. Sure, the mechanics are different, but the idea that there are messages going back and forth with lots of (potential) scheming makes this sound very much like Diplomacy.

So, who's starting a big, private Goodjer game?

I would be willing to start a private premium game. Before that would like to know who is interested, so I know how many players to include. I would also like opinions on the other settings. i would probably lean towards making a faster game, just to see how it plays out the first time.

I'd join. If you start this one, I'll start the next one given it costs about $5 to make a game anyone can join.

Just cottoned onto this now, trying out my first 2 games, I would be open to joining a GWJ game.

And the game I just joined Pi Regulus (FREE) has 6 free spaces at the moment.

I just joined your game MrDeVil. I haven't played at all so this should be an interesting experience.

Cool, I'm a total noob myself, let's see if we can blunder our way through.

Also joined OGame that Mix and Teneman mentioned, I haven't been able to find the GWJ alliance though. A search for "GWJ" gets me nothing and "game"r gets me a bunch of Eastern European alliances

Well so far this is all very confusing. I'm a pretty hands-on learner especially when it comes to video games and I have a really hard time reading the tutorial and actually retaining the information. I wish they had set up an actual in-game one.

I also have a feeling I can't see the whole screen as the bottom of a lot of things seem to be cut off...

I really should've waited for a Goodjer game or at least one with one in it. Is there anyway to drop from a game.

Also joined Pi Regulus with MrDeVil.

The info box on the right is often cut off, just click and drag to move it. Same for the main map.

I've just upgraded a few stars until I ran out of money and moved my fleets to nice looking sites for expansion. I'm pretty sure that's all there is at first.

*edit*

Oh cool, come Goodjers, let's take this over.

I started a premium game that is free for others to join. The game name is "IUMoggs shame" and the password is "gwj". Since this is my first game and I suspect a lot of others' first, I made it double speed (2 pays every 24 hrs) and I choose a small map (16 starts per player). Everything else is standard. It's 8 players, so the first 7 to join are in.

Who is Spendidmcawesome? It's definitely a Goodjer, rings a major bell, so there's at least 4 of us in Pi Regulus

Oh, and I'm in with IUMogg.

After some recruiting, the game is already half full. 4 spots left!
