GWJ 360ers: trueachievements.com!

So I was reading through the final wrap-up for GTASC 2012 (look for the "End of Contest Recap" news post) and then my jaw dropped on this unbelievable tidbit:

The top 3 badge earning teams throughout the contest were:
The Parisian Dandies with a total of 19 badges - most of them 'Overachiever' ones.
Master Chief's Minions took home 16 badges in the end - with a little of everything.
Why do you want to be called Lorella Stan? rounds out the top 3 list with 13 - notable that they never had a 'That Was Close' or a 'That Was Easy' badge.

I want this to be true even though it isn't. However I'm not about to go correcting planting... so while it's still up in his news recap:
Congrats to my fellow Dandies!

I thought we'd at least get a zombie badge for having to be eliminated twice.

Hey guys! Achievement whoring with a purpose, doesn't get much better than that! In previous years, did you guys just get the easiest games for GTASC? Or did you play the games you normally would? I'm going to stock up on games for this tourney, I'm wanting to get a feel of which games I should look at.

I just played like I usually did, but would watch the standings daily to see if i needed to pop in an easy 1k to keep us in the running. With the 4 of our regular gaming habits, I don't forsee any issues for the first 10-15 weeks if the competition is like last year.

I actually need to start that up...

I could play with you.

Sure thing! Might need to be after the Christmas break, though -- I got a new Xbox and filled it up with my old goodies and inadvertently used up all of my bandwidth cap for the month, so I'm trying to play offline things.

I sent an invite via leaderboard (I guess I can do that now!).

Am I the only one who actually bought the deal of the week (Tropico 4 DLC)? Seemed an odd choice to put such a marginal game on sale, and yet... it was just what I was waiting for.

F*ck you in the ear, seriously... I've just finished my pile list for 2013!?!?!

Spoiler:

Not really the ear thing, just cuddles and a little spooning perhaps?

I'm looking forward to picking up the Walking Dead games on sale, and maybe some of that Skyrim DLC. Anything else look especially tasty?

edit: oh, and maybe some Borderlands 2 DLC, for when I finally get that.

That's my damage... So far

I am in for WD Ep 3-5, Mark of the Ninja, Deadlight, and maybe Dust. Also maybe borderlands season pass (for when I eventually get the game), depending on price.

I wanted that, but my 250GB drive that is almost full is telling me to wait on the retail disc.

Deadlight looked visually interesting, but I heard nothing but derision when it came out. Anyone care to sell me on this? Or Dust, for that matter. That looks cool as well.

I might grab:

The Simpsons Arcade Game (nostalgia reasons)
Mark of the Ninja (for sure getting it)
Dust: An Elysian Tail (basically been waiting to either have time to play it or for it to go on sale)
Deadlight (same reason as above)

Will grab a free copy of The Walking Dead Episode 1 probably but I need to try the demo before then.

Play the demo's Clem. I liked the demo's for both of them. Deadlight feels a lot like Flashback to me and Dust had a Metroidvania 2D side-scrolling Devil May Cry style combat feel.

You do know that you can delete things, right?

I do, but then I'd REALLY forget I have them in my pile, and they'd never get played ever...

I wondered that as I wrote it

I may just 'clean up' my XBLA titles as part of my GTASC efforts.

I'll be grabbing Mark of the Ninja, Dust, and Skyrim DLC...maybe some other stuff but it depends on the ms points.

To confirm - Certis is Awesome v2.0 is up and running! Monkey - any chance you can do another banner for us like you did last year?

Not a problem. I've got last years, but I'll give a refreshed design a go on Monday too (kids in daycare )

Then we can decide on which ones to go with.

HoneyCut, do you know if the banner sizes will be consistent with last year? Anyway you can check for us with your 'inside connections'?

Leaderboard is set to completion % this week.

I thought this was interesting: Xbox360Achievements.org to design achievement/trophy list for GRID 2. I'm curious to see what achievement aficionados do when they're given the opportunity to design achievements themselves.

Follow up, they now have a list of their top 20 dos and don'ts.

That was a good read!

I was gonna get Walking Dead Eps 2-5 for Christmas anyway, so if I have extra space bucks now maybe I'll get Crrrrrrazy Taxi. Or see what the GoD or Boxing Day games are.

Does not contain original soundtrack. Avoid.

Hm, thanks for the head's-up. Virtua Fighter 2 then!

So, other than the glitched achievements, and the on again, off again servers would you enable a fan of the movies on an unopened $18 eBay copy of Ghostbusters?
