GWJ 360ers: trueachievements.com!

Pages

I'd like to see more 360-playing goodjers on trueachievements.com: a site specifically designed to manage your burgeoning e-peen!

Gamers With Jobs leaderboard / list here.

If you care about achievements at all, TA is worth checking out. Basically TA recalculates the point value of your gamerscore based on what percentage of the user community has any given achievement; rare ones become more valuable while super common ones (hit start to play!) retain their original value. There's a bunch of stat-tracking functionality, and the user community is pretty good about providing solutions or hints for achievements you may be having difficulty with. You can waste a lot of time here.

Of course, if you think achievements are useless then you'd probably be right, but nobody wants to hear it.

Let not a F.E.A.R. 2 tempt us into the notion that a man has an obligation to finish that which he hath started, if that which he hath started steals from him the very life essence that makes him man, only to return unto him a small percentage of completion on the Gamers with Jobs True Achievements Leaderboard. So sayeth man, "So be'ith."

I must not hunt achievements.

Achievements are the little-grinds that bring hobby-obliteration.

I will face my Gamerscore.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn off achievement notifications.
Where the achievements have gone there will be nothing.
Only the game will remain.

My one hangup with this site is that I have to log in with my gamertag/pass. Is this in any way associated with MS? Would I be taking a humongous risk by logging in?

Aha! You are correct. I shall register and start enabling my inner achievement whore. Long live the gamerscore!!!!

I think it's pretty secure. TA seems to be well-regarded amongst gamers. I scan the forums regularly and haven't ever found a thread where someone got scammed because of their TA account.

I think it is just asking for your gamertag when you register.

The password you choose is one specific to logging into their site, not your normal MS one.
This is reinforced on the registration form where it basically tells you to choose a unique password and not use your MS one.

I haven't registered yet, but might.

I use the site as part of my diabolical plot to surpass skeletonframes' and Jonman's gamerscore, although Jonman uses illegal n00b tactics (an Excel spreadsheet!) for extra planning power.

n00b tactics? N00B TACTICS??

I think you'll find that a spreadsheet is the polar opposite of a n00b tactic, young man. I mean, come on, it's colour-coded and everything. I've consider whacking some VB macros in there if I could think of a reason.

You're correct. It just needs your gamertag to comb Xbox.com for your cheevos. No MSN password required.

My true gamer score is 5,454. Not very high but I have had a 360 less than a year so, but anyways neat site I don't know if I will be using it regularly or not but all the help for getting all the achievement is very helpful.

Go me! It looks like getting 1000/1000 in Alone in the Dark has boosted my score. Would someone similarly receive a boost for getting all of the achievements in, say, Up? I doubt that game is tracking for too many people, either.

You'd be surprised. A lot of the boosters go after kiddie games to top up their scores, since they're usually an easy 1000. The guy at the top of the leaderboard, stallion83 or whatever, has a U.S. xbox, Japanese xbox, and European xbox so he can get achievements from the same game in three different versions.

Also: friend up, people!

So, what you're saying is, it's my duty to stay just a little in front of you, you know, for motivation.

Not a bad score.

It surprises me at some of the score ratios, which from what I understand represents how many people in the community as a whole have done the achievement, is that right? For instance, 'Technical Fighter' for Street Fighter 4 has a ratio of 5.41, which surprises me because I thought more people would have done the normal trials.

EDIT: Jonman, how dare you have a higher score than me by less than 3,000 points. I'll get you next time, Jonman. NEXT TIME!!!!

You'll also note that I have no "easy" games on my gamercard (free Doritos XBLA game notwithstanding). No Avatar, no 2K6 sports games.

Jonman, keeping it real since 1977.

I'm on there, although I have a pretty low score compared to a lot of you, I've got some work to do

I'm on there, too. Beating Green Grass & High Tides on Expert Guitar certainly helped my score. Probably would've been easier with the Fender instead of the Les Paul, but I've only got the one. 1000/1000 on Assassin's Creed didn't hurt either.

I was tempted to rent one of the "easy" games, but I decided not to taint my gamerscore with such activity.

The only relatively easy games I've done would be the LEGO games, though I played those because they're fantastic games.

I still need to finish Tomb Raider. At one point I had also hoped to 100% Ninja Gaiden 2, but then I discovered that inventing perpetual fusion power would be easier than beating Master Ninja Mode.

I've registered, but it doesnt seem like it was able to scan on its first try. I probably have my privacy settings too strict on the console.

Oh well. Do I need to add folks as friends, or does it pull them from your live profile automatically?

Indeed! Which means you'll have to ramp up production in the forthcoming months. Ahrezmendi is a new target-marker as well.

I may or may not have NHL 2K6, 1000/1000 on my gamercard. And I may or may not have bought it at Blockbuster for $2 just this summer...

No Avatar though!

Well, I'm not going to have a lot of expendable cash this winter, so here's your chance to pass me up.

... That's crazy talk. I'm a nobody, my score doesn't matter.

Ok. I've added myself.

Nice to see slogging through PSU's single player campaign netted me a nice 1511.

Can't go wrong with $2 copies of 2K6! Actually, yes you can. It's not a very fun game at all. I should've got a coffee instead.

It's not like anything good is coming out this winter anyway. I'll be playing the new CoD and maybe Dragon Age if it's lucky.

58% completion ratio says you are in this crazy achievement game for real reals!

Yeah I think you need to allow outside access to your gamercard info. Also you have to add people manually... although it would be a sweet feature to just dump ppl in from your friends list as long as they were signed up for TA themselves.

Blast! Betrayed by my own obsession!

This might provide enough incentive to clean up those games I've only got a few items left in, like VF5, Marvel: UA, and Prince of Persia. I'd like to push my completion percentage over that 70% mark.

skeletonframes wrote:

That's no excuse. You, sir, have a shockingly low 42% acheivement completion. You have no need of new games, you just need to finish the ones you've started...

Also, if the back of your head feels itchy, that's just my crosshairs. Don't worry about it.

Irongut, you are the new king, but you shall rule alone.

Seriously though, 46,584? Wow.

How on earth do you people find the time?

Indeed, Irongut emerges as the new GWJ champ! Looks like I'll be adding Avatar to my Goozex list

Just kidding. I'll be getting Kung Fu Panda instead.

This is probably one of the best parts of TA in my opinion. Squeezes new life from the pile, and gives you a bit of an incentive to push back into games you may not have played in a while.

I usually have to trade sleep anytime I want to play, so I dont play as much as I used to.

This has already paid off, SaintFaucet reminded me its September 17th.. SEPTEMBER 17th. Do you know what this means from a Brothers in Arms:HH perspective. Its the one day per year you can get one of the achievements, and I would've forgotten about it completely.

What a lucky day to join trueachievements!

Yeah, that one is ridiculous. I'm not even sure if it adheres to MS' achievement policy.

He's not kidding*:

Remember September '44 – 50 GP

While connected to Xbox LIVE, play the game on September 17th

Wow, what a stupid achievement.

*Actual Irongut wording might vary. I think I quoted him before he could complete his requisite forty edits. Love you, IG.
