Why would this launch as a PS3 game?? And damn I hope they keep the current cover art.. that's the bomb!
Because 2015 is the year of the PS3!
So, E3 is over. Nothin' but crickets over this, eh?
It'll happen. I hope it doesn't go the Duke Nukem scenario, but it'll happen. I don't know why, but I don't think they'll cancel it.
Riiight.
Yeah, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 is totally being worked on too.
It turns out, The Last Guardian is Half Life 3.

The Last Guardian is Half Life 3, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Frog Fractions 2. Try and keep up, guys.
It is also the true Syndicate remake we've wanted since the early 90's.

I am disappointed that the URL wasn't secretly a link to the Kitty Cat Dance.
More (actually legitimate) info on Last Guardian.

Brilliant.
I hate you all.

They filed to renew the trademark, at least.
Incidentally, reading this thread from the beginning is kinda sad from the perspective of 2015. Schmootle, do you still have your pre-order?
I saw the one comment, and got nervous. I thought I would read a "officially cancelled" post. Thank the gods.
Oooh, I get to use this again.
Zero clue where to put this. So this thread seems melancholy enough for it.

Thank you for sharing this, it is beautiful, and makes clearer the ambiguity that you are obviously intended to feel while playing this game.
The adventurous, swashbuckling music while clambering atop a colossus, followed the melancholy chorus as the beast topples, finished with the sickening sound of Wander being impaled by the dark tendrils certainly makes for an emotional rollercoaster.
I always loved that in many of the Collossi, their bodies were the actual levels. Scaling the huge, hulks was the level and the boss at once. It was ingenious.
I can't believe it's been this long. Wasn't Shadow of The Colossus for PS2? Kind of wish they'd at least made some HD remaster or something, I'd play it again.

Whaaaaat? That totally got an HD remaster on PS3 along with ICO.

Yeah, me too. Finished it a couple of times on my PS3. It's such a damn fine game!
Still haven't given ICO a spin though, any enablers?

I just finished it a week ago or so. Cool, but the controls and combat made me want to murder baby seals.
Well, as a point of reference, one of the few dings on Colossus' impeccable score card, was the horrible camera controls, with many claiming it rage-quit inducing. Personally, I didn't have much trouble with the camera at all. Not even in the final colossus when having to jump from back to hand.
Having that said, would you still consider the controls to be a deal breaker?
Well, I powered through, and it was worth it. If you can deal with frustration, then you'll be fine.
I rage quit the PS2 version of SotC because of that mentioned jump. Never finished it.
Ico is a puzzle game with light combat. There are a few parts where you have to run past enemies rather than fight them, which is part of the particular puzzle in those rooms. You can get some better weapons but they're simewhat hidden. I just used a guide on how to get them since I remembered how annoying the fighting was when I played it on PS2.
For me the most impressive aspect of the game is the level design. It feels like a real place, and you'll frequently see an area you were already in from a different perspective in later rooms. Each area is distinctive despite the similar architecture.
The story with Yorda and Ico is also touching, and there are some really memorable story beats that are some of my favorite of any narrative-driven game I've played.
It's definitely worth trying, and I'd say don't be afraid to use a guide for some of the trickier parts.
