Launch steam and double click on dragon age.

That's a brilliant idea! (...calls son who has the day off for teacher work day...)

I had to restart Steam to get it to start, but it's chugging away now.

Trust me...I just went through this with Borderlands. My wife is not even allowed to make microwave popcorn without supervision. She is very good when it comes to art, organization and politics....anything with a power cord?...not so much.

Hmm, what did everyone do for the online settings of the game? I rather not have my character being uploaded online all the time, but that is just me, the hermit-in-training talking.

This doesn't look like a good sign:

Hmm...

Steam seems to have applied everything automatically. I only showed a couple of items in the start up menu, but once I got in game I had a message that new downloadable content was available and it shows everything.

I keep getting similar kinds of messages, but when trying to create an account. If it wasn't for the fact that I might have to get the DLC from it, I'd say f*ck it.

Well, it's out, and their website is such a snarl that I think I've lost my downloadable codes. I used different email addresses for my EA account and for my Bioware account, redeemed my codes on the Bioware account, and the game will not let me f*cking log in on the Bioware account. It demands that I type in my email and password to create a new account, and then insists that I can't use that email because it's already taken.

So, I think I'm f*cked.

My install started downloading over Impulse starting around 1pm Central time. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to try this out tonight. *crosses fingers*

There's definitely issues with account sign ins up there right now. Using the character creator last night I ran into the same sort of problem. That would *suck* if you really did lose you d/l codes because of this.

That green message supersedes the red one I believe. At least it was the case for me, since all the redeemables showed up in the "downloadable content" menu.

Did you link your bioware account with your EA account?

Downloading at 8.2 MB / sec. GOGOGO

I'm at 715 KB/s.

I have decrypted it but I still cant play. It tries to decrypt finishes and then doesnt start.

Impulse is DL'ing at just under 2Mbps. Not bad on release day. I might DL faster than you all decrpyt

I'm having issues with the social site too.

I seemingly created my account just fine, using my EA account which I also linked into my Bioware account. I was even logged in, checking out the community site, but I couldn't find the characters I thought I had uploaded so I logged out and tried to log in again.

Now when I try to log in it takes me back to the account creation page, saying I'm logged in to my EA account and need to create a Dragon Age account but if I try to do that it gives me an error saying that an account on that email address already exists. Yeah, no sh*t, I just created it a couple minutes ago!

I don't really want to register it to a different email address in fear of getting things all messed up as Malor described.

The social site was really wonky last night, characters I had uploaded were appearing and disappearing before my eyes. Overloaded, I suppose.

So I read the reviews to bide the time while I'm at work. I think the Eurogamer review spoiled the ending for me. That's unforgivable; it's OK if you spoil something in hour 2, but never ever mention anything about the last sequence of the game.

So I'm not reading reviews any more, I guess.

Just spent the last 40 minutes in a Best Buy with a printed email that said the game was ready to be picked-up. In the end they just put the confirmation number in and gave me the game. {ableist slur} blue monkeys.

So now I have Dragon Age on the PC(Steam) and 360. Looking forward to trying out my snotty noble human warrior when I get home tonight.

I hope the same goes for me too. I just tried mine (I did the EA/Bioware link ahead of time) while downloading the content through Impulse and I got the same code error.

Downloading at 1.6MB/s

Edit: Did anyone try to put their Impulse Digital Deluxe Edition serial into Steam?

Ohh tempted to try that myself... Downloading through impulse at 500kb/s... Which is about the fastest we ever get on DSL these days... 37% done!

Between this as my single player game and L4D2 as my multiplayer game, I think I am good on video games for at least 2 months.

After logging into the game, I got 3 pieces of DLC. Namely the 3 pieces earned through playing DA:J.

How does one go about retrieving other pieces of DLC? I should have something from creating characters in the character creator. I should have something from buying DD version of the game. And I should have something from buying the game on Steam.

No idea how it works through those sources, but my EA Store CE purchase resulted in an email received a couple of hours ago that had a download code for my in-game content. It also noted the code would expire next year (April, I think). I found that a little frustrating because it would seem if I uninstall and later reinstall the game in, say, 2011, I'll likely no longer be able to get those extra items. Boo!

I was leery on this until I read that there is NO level scaling enemies. Now I am sold. All these games with level scaling enemies totally kill one of my favorite things about RPGs - finding those areas that are deadly and inaccessible at a lower level and coming back later. Is it just me or does having access to all of the game's content at level 1 kind of ruin the game?

Argh. Somehow my Steam download got reset from 45% back down to 0%. Honestly, what happened to all those downloaded bits, and why can't I get them back?

Actually, unless EA Store changed recently, you will not be able to get the game at all. If I'm not mistaken EA Store only allows you to d/l your purchased game for 1 year. Then you have to re-purchase it if you want it again.

Did you get an email with the keys for redeeming those items? I thought Steam versions of the game automatically registered the DLCs for you?

As for the one from creating the character, it should be there. It showed up automatically for me.
