I was going to "fix" this for you, but it sounds pervy enough as it is.

PC... How long does the download take from Steam?

Longer than it should since "The steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request"

I'm already at 70ish percent. It's only 1.6 gig.

I started downloading at 1:00, it is about 64% done. My speed is at 440 kb/sec, using Chicago as my download location in Steam.

I managed to get a free key from a site with half the internet crushing it beneath the millions of F5 presses. grabbing the client off a torrent running at my full line speed :>

I'm in as Scratched, clan tag: GWJ

Don't make me open the hurt locker on ya.

Took maybe an hour and half to be complete for me.

Just over halfway on Steam and I'm getting 105KB/s. Uhg.

Woo! Finished making my account.

They're currently aware of the lag issues and are working to quickly resolve them...

Skimming is a sin.

With that thought how are PC people's experiences running this game? Is it a great experience running the game at the minimum system requirements?

I've seen the xbox360 gameplay videos and they look pretty good. I'd be more than happy if my rig could duplicate those events. If it could I would pre-order this sucka right now.

My rig: Core 2 Duo 3ghz, nvidia 8800gtx, two gigs of ram and lots of useful hard drive space.

Word has it dual-core processors aren't enough to run the game in high. I'd expect that to improve a little before launch.

That sounds promising. I've got no plans to run it on high if it looks decent at medium. I'll sacrifice eye-candy such as 16x AA any day for a good framerate and convincing bitmap-thingies. I would also slide detailed shadows to low.

Hey, I just thought of something. What handles the physics of exploding buildings? The stuff that actually comes apart? Does the graphics card handle the math or is it the processor?

Does it crash for anyone else when they try to open the server browser?

Was at 58% percent download when I launched another steam game. The download stopped so when I quit Dragon Age, the download restarted from 0%...Meh, lesson learned..

Ok, well, beta so I guess not much point to complaining, but it doesn't work at all right now. The server browser crashes the game before it ever finds a single server and the play now feature just reports a connection error.

Back to Mass Effect 2 I go.

I think they took the master servers down to fix the lag issues.

Played the 360 version for a couple of hours. Graphics aren't up to much, UI is poor, control scheme and gun feedback isn't as good as MW2 but it's good fun. Which, of course, is the most important thing.

Yeah, now when I try to pull up the server browser the game crashes also. I got into a match earlier and I have to say that map and effects looks quite nice. All of my settings are on high (screen resolution of 1280x1024) with the exception of AA and AF which are 1X and 4x respectively. The HBAO setting is on, but I haven't been able to get into a match to see exactly what it does.

System Specs:
CPU: Intel E6550
RAM: 3.5 GB
Video Card: Nvidia 8800GTS 512
OS: WinXP

The data downloaded is still there. Steam sometimes refreshes the % downloaded figure. Most of the time it's fine. Every once in a while it'll show you 0%. To make sure your download is not corrupted right-click the game's title, properties, local files, verify integrity of game cache. This can be done with all games downloaded from Steam.

That's about what I'm running. If you get impressions for a system of that caliber, please post 'em. I'll buy if there's a decent, stable experience to be had.

I'm on as Lobster Mobster. Send those friend requests!

Game's crashing for me every time I go to the server browser. Guess it's still a little unstable.

They posted an update about the server browser crashes and asked players to stop using it for a while until they fix it and use the Play Now button instead.

Staats,

PC over 360? Say it ain't so.

Just bought it on Steam. 54% downloaded!

Playing BF2 with my roommate in college are probably my best gaming memories. I am so pumped for this game.

BF2 on the PC led me to this site... there's history, man. We go way back.
