Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Catch-All

Are folks going 360 on this one?

GWJ has had a long-running Battlefield game night for the PC, so there will be at least some people playing BC2 on the PC when it arrives.

I'm picking it up PC style, there should be about 10-15 people I would think that will be there goodjer style day one.

Most of the Thursday night regulars are going PC.

PC day one. I'm pretty sure Wired will have a dedicated server ready to go on launch day.

I'll be on 360 for whatever that's worth.

360 for me. The first one was great. I pretty much suck at games (am I right?), but did okay at the first one online. For some reason it doesn't have the same feeling of "there are preternaturally good players out there that are gonna make it no fun for me" as Modern Warfare. There are lots of ways in BF:BC to be helpful to your team and earn points other than getting in the twitch kill on a guy as you round the corner.

At any rate, this is the game I'm most looking forward to this spring, maybe even in 2010.

Get this at all it'll be for PC the first version of this game on the 360 made me want to cry and a bit leary in trying it this time around

Yup - This'll be the new Thursday night thing for awhile I think. I'm looking forward to it.

I really do need to spend some more time with the first one in anticipation of this game coming out. I have it as digital download on the 360. So I don't even have to get up and change the disc. I need to plow through the single player, and hopefully get some multiplayer in at some point. If we can get a game going, I'd love to get some Goodjer time going on this game.

I played a bit of it just this week, although I'm incredibly rusty. DS has been playing this lately, and I'm sure joh3n would be up for some. Maybe we should call a game night, although my availability is a bit hit-or-miss.

If you see me on, send me a message suggesting it...

The single player is alright in bits. It feels like the enemies hone in on you while ignoring your squad mates quite a bit...which if fine, because in about half the situations, your squad is letting you go ahead to draw bullets while they hang back safely. I actually appreciated the attempts at humor. Most of it is simple stuff, but I'm easily amused.

There will be infantry type modes and even if there weren't, with dedicated servers you'd have lots of them to chose where vehicles are completely disabled.

True, but is it worth paying $50-$60 for a game in which half the weapons have to be disabled before the player thinks its worth playing?

Different strokes. Can't fault DICE for including squad deathmatch while keeping the tanks and aircraft in Conquest and Rush.

Thin_J, judging from the beta they're putting more of an emphasis on infantry vs. infantry combat in BC2, at least compared with BF2.

I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. If I do get it, it'll be PC.

PC for me! Who knows, I might even get to play with GWJers!

That's encouraging, at least enough that I'm far more interested than I have been. I skipped the first Bad Company's multiplayer entirely.

I wish I could remember where I read it, but I do recall the developers saying in an interview that this game would put more of an emphasis on the infantry side of things. Apparently they did a lot of work on the weapon handling and damage models. I can only imagine it's in response to the success of Modern Warfare, but it's the aspect of the game I enjoy most so I can only find that it's for the better.

Mmm. PC you say? How intriguing.

MW2 has been a lot more frustrating without a regular group to play with.

Same here. Nothing has turned me off this game, but I have to account for the great Q1 games will have this year (not waiting 12hrs to be correct).

I will have a server up for this day 1 for pc players.

PC it will be then...

I just played two days of the MAG beta on PS3, and then I checked out some youtube clips of BC2, and I gotta say BC2 looks to be my military shooter for the first part of this year. I'm really excited for it right now. I'll be on 360.

Tasty.

Cant wait for the PC beta. I hope they release it on Steam. The only problem is that it's released the same time as Mass Effect 2!

I'll buy it. Much prefer BF: BC to MW2. I like the vehicular combat. In fact, I'm going through the campaign for the first game right now, thin though it may be, so I'm used to the controls for when the second game comes out.

I've put my finger on why I prefer this game. The vehicular combat and large maps ensures the game doesn't turn into a camp-fest, a snipe-fest and a noob tube-fest. It puts a little more onus on team play. Or maybe that's just how the online community plays it.

My hope/guess is that they think Battlefield "suxorz" and is "lam3" and stay away from it, honestly. I jumped back into Halo the other day and while I didn't turn on plug the headphone in, the game was infinitely more fun online. So I'm kind of hoping the screamers, cheesers and unnaturally good players stays over there in all the various CODs.

By the way,

Beta Players will secure their gamer alias (Soldier Name) for retail.

Hopefully I manage to secure mine.

*Shifty eyes*

Hmmm, if this is going to be the regular Thursday thing with all the people from BF2 and a smaller extent 2142, then I will get it for the PC. Kinda waiting to see what the scores look like before it comes out.

I'm going for PC and Xbox 360.
