Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Catch-All

Sounds good. Gotta eat anyway.

I wish Onslaught points went into your regular multiplayer levelling (you can see why they didn't do it.)

I bought this in the sale, is there a group I can get an invite too?

Also, are the regular nights Monday or Tuesday?

PC? Thursday. There's a thread about it.

Thank you, I knew I'd seen a thread somewhere about it.

Why friendly fire is generally turned off because of prick moves like that. In BF2 that was always the rage you knew it was a 50/50 chance of you being TK when getting in a vehicle. Still in BC2 i have been on servers where there was friendly fire, but it didnt seem to effect the vehicles.

Friendly fire is off on that server but if you hit a friendly chopper in flight with an RPG it will get bumped by the explosion. You'll notice that in the second picture that guy is aiming for the tail. You can't damage the chopper but you can flip it over.

Picked this up in the Steam Sale last night, will be on in the next week as soon as I rebuild my PC.

I played a game last night where our Apache pilot was actually better than their Apache pilot. Ah joy.

Good choice . If you want your new PC built don't play this game before building it ;). It's #3 most played on my steam account after about 3 month of ownership .

Those choppers are fairly overpowered if you know how to use them. It's very hard to hit them with an rpg or trace. Even if you trace them many of them carry countermeasures so you have about 3 seconds to lock and fire your RPG after tracing. .

If you are just starting out you won't have tracer gun . Most people in the local high ticket count (2000) heavy metal server don't use tracer anyways and stick to the tow missile (forgot the name not RPG7 or Gustav). There is a very large number of engineers on that server due to the very high vehicle count. I play assault a lot because none plays it and running out of ammo on this server is common.

I was having some success last night with the tank machine gun but only because the guy didn't know to fly above the guns maximum elevation. I may have shot one down with a tank shell but it may have exploded prior to my shell arriving. Not sure.

The problem with helicopter is that the only infantry weapon that can damage them are , under-barrel grenades , C4 (range problem), rocket launchers and M95 sniper rifle. You can snipe the blackhawk pilot using other light weapons (preferably the 3.5X head shot sniper rifles) but I had no success with against other helicopters .

To kill a helicopter you have to use a stationary /vehicle weapons . I sometimes use one of the jeeps and switch to the MG station using function keys to shoot at the helicopters, but the damage is still pretty low. I've hit a few helicopters with a tank cannon. The secondary weapon upgrade really helps against helicopters. The best way to kill helicopters is with AAA (that what most pilots target first), or another helicopter .

There is a guide I saw that teaches how to hit them untraced helicopters with a Gustav by using the sight to evaluate missile drop due to range .

As far as shooting down apaches goes Mannishboy showed me this guys channel...

...and I've been trying to copy his AT4 shots since with some success. Its hard to do and requires a lot of practice but very satisfying

That guy is supernaturally good with guided missiles. I've tried a few times to lead shots like that and I can't get the hang of it. Is there a video tutorial anywhere?

Nevermind, found one:

I wish they hadn't nerfed the tracer dart speed so much.

Indeed. I have no depth perception when it comes to the AT4, so my only real chance against a chopper is darting.

Got my first angry message from a pubbie last night. Finally.

Plain Grey and I were playing conquest on Heavy Metal. Something like 8 v 8. Except PG and I were the only ones on our team forward of our spawn. The rest of them were hanging back and taking potshots at the enemy helicopters and doing a horrible job of it. After about eight deaths, I chose to come back in our spawn, walked up to a guy in a jeep who was quixotically blasting the fixed gun on the back into the air, and blew it up with an RPG.

Minutes later I got a nearly incomprehensible text message full of grammatical errors about how I must think I am really cool because I could blow up people who were just messing around.

Yeah... *I* was the problem with what was going on in that game.

There seem to be a hell of a lot of games on the 360 were you arrive in the middle of a rout. I guess it only takes a few people to be playing as a team on one side and a few folks not playing the objectives (to put it politely) on the other and the game goes south. Then it's just a case of people on the losing team dropping out and new arrivals not having time to get their bearings. I've been on both sides. Being on the side routing the enemy is marginally more fun than being on the side being routed but I prefer a close match.

I also wonder if, at this stage in proceedings, some players are just trying to pick up obscure pins and insignias rather than playing the game. Although, to be fair, most pins, etc are awarded for being productive.

I've been sworn at in french (for noob tubing) german (for spamming landmines) and have even been told to 'grow a dick' by one young gentleman.

I'm so glad I've changed my privacy settings to block communications (except friend requests) from everyone not on my friends list - if your on xbox I really can't recommend this enough

Doesn't this setting also cause problems when you're in parties with friends and friends-of-friends?

Yes. You can't hear them and they can't hear you

Its the price you pay for using it I guess

I've had some amazing Battlefield moments recently. There are so many now I'll have to commit them to the internets.

1. I was running across a field with my squad of randoms when an enemy quad bike, with two riders, appeared. They veered all over the field trying to run us down while we shot at them. After a few moments we hit the driver. The bike drifted across the field in a straight line with the passenger still perched on the back. Just as the bike slowed to a halt, passenger still in place, it exploded. Whether it was a tank shell or a well aimed grenade I have no idea. I chucked.

2. I was in a factory like base which seemed to be undefended apart from me. I heard a light tank approaching and so hugged the wall and loaded my RPG. Just as I moved towards the factory entrance. hoping to kill the tank, two snipers on a quad bike raced into the base. They screeched to a halt and jumped off. They were very close. I fired the rpg and prayed I didn't die. The quad bike and one guy were blown away. I switched to the machine gun and shot the other guy before he got his bearings. Switching back to the rpg I started reloading, going back to my original plan of shooting the tank from the doorway. The engine sounded very close I was still surprised when the tank drove into the building. I was miles from any cover. I resigned myself to maybe getting off one shot before I died. I lined up on the front of the vehicle, that didn't seem to have seen me yet, and fired. The light tank went up in a ball of flames.

3. Experience in one multiplayer game can be useful in a different game but I never thought my time spent playing Assassin's Creed would come in useful in BFBC 2 but it felt rather like it did in an encounter I had with a sniper. The guy was constantly ducking in and out of buildings near a flag and picking people off. I was determined to hunt him down if I could. At one point I spotted him going up into a battered building. I followed him in thinking, as soon as he stopped to snipe, I could stab him. He ran up stairs and I followed. When I arrived on the second floor I saw him jump down out of the building. I followed and continued to follow as he moved around some rubble, behind another building and jumped over a wall. He finally stopped in a patch of partial cover. I moved up behind him and stabbed him in the neck.

I forgot I had some really really nice screenshots of people breaking (I'm a snitch ) rules on one of our local servers - friendly fire on a chopper kind . The lead moderator decided to use one of them to announce the opening of a new unmoderated server (punkbuster enabled though) so all people who want to play without rules can go "CRAZY" without disturbing the general population.

this is the one he posted (click to enlarge on both ):

IMAGE(http://niseg.moshela.com/rpg_june2211.JPG)

this is my first and best one - he's aiming at the tail so the chopper flips over

It IS really tough to find a balanced game these days. I got lucky this weekend and was able to play several hours on pretty even teams. It felt like a treat.

Higgledy, one of the great things about this game are the those moments. A few recent ones of mine:

1. Shot a missile at a helicopter that was hovering too slowly above. Someone else on my team did the same. He got the helicopter kill, but my shot apparently took out the pilot and passenger at the moment they tried to jump out, as I got two kills.

2. Playing assault with C4 — ran up to a building and saw a shwookie through a window, near me. Threw C4 on the wall and ran on, triggering it. Killed him. Someone got me in their sites as I turned the corner and got some hits on me. I ran into the building, ducked into one of those long closets. Threw C4 at the other end. Waited a bit. Pulled the trigger. Killed the guy hunting me down as he came in the room. I was wounded but survived.

I find I can usually get there with a little game hopping. Also, at the end of a rout game, the change over of players can sometimes mean your team is suddenly decent again.

I received the M136 AT4 last night and shot down two attack helicopters. Extremely satisfying.

The stats menu isn't showing any of my progress, pins or insignias at the moment. It appears to come and go randomly. Really annoying when you're trying to strategically earn insignias to boost levelling.

Use this one. Much better. Plus you can check it at work, while you aren't playing the game

Yay!

It says it doesn't have my tag but it'll try to add me (presumably next time I'm on.)
