I didn't see a catch-all for this, so with the PS3 beta starting today I figured it might be a good time. Now that I have seen some of the preview videos, including this one, I am getting pretty excited for this.

Is anyone else here participating in the PS3 beta? I am going to download it this evening, but don't plan on committing any real time to it until this weekend. You can add me on PSN as Evo_47.

Beta first impressions - Eurogamer

I'll be downloading when I get home this afternoon. Should provide a welcome break from the MW2-mania that has recently gripped my game-time by the short hairs.

My PSN ID: Skeletor9000

Unfortunately I'm in Europe, so I can't get my hands on a beta key from IGN (Unless any of you know a way?)

But I am very excited about this after getting reestablished with the franchise with BF43. Before that BF:Vietnam was my last time playing the game.

I must say though, that the video you linked to seems a tad bit scripted

I'll also be downloading this when I get home.

MW2 is driving me up the wall so hopefully a multiplayer game with some semblance of team play will make me happy.

The claim its from live multiplayer gameplay, although it may have been "scripted" in the sense that all the opfor players were from EA/DICE, and were moving their characters in a coordinated manner to accommodate the player doing all those things.

I'm in for sure, probably on 360. I liked the first game a lot, and BF:BC2 looks to be an improvement in pretty much every way that matters.

Hey, I'm not alone. I'm playing BF:BC for this very reason, right now. Played MW2, didn't like the lack of team play. BF:BC2 is day one for me.

BF:BC2 is D1 4 U?

I started the download this morning. Any impressions from those who were able to play it?

I'm curious how the helicopters are. They were difficult to master in the last BF game.

And I'm in for the PC just preordered on Amazon.

I loved BF:BC1, but it had some issues. The new multiplayer diaries I've seen look pretty good and they seem to have addressed quite a few things; especially dealing with squads.

One disappointment though, is that they seem to have implemented killcams. I hate this. I really hate this (hate it in COD as well). Sniper and cover tactics on these large maps are enjoyable and not overpowered as is. Why give away someone's position? For you folks in the beta, I'd love to hear your comments on how the killcams are working in game. The video footage I saw was brief, and I hope I'm wrong on how bad they'll be.

I am excited for this since it appears to be coming out for the PC too. The first one looked quite fun, but was only for the consoles, so I'm glad they've broadened out. Unless I hear very bad things about it during the beta, this will be a day one purchase for me too.

Please let their be gametypes without killcams!

Ok, question: I absolutely LOVE BF:1943 and still play it. I know that Bad Company 2 is in a modern setting, but aside from that, how similar is the gameplay for multiplayer to that of 1943?

If it's basically 1943 in a modern setting, I'm going to have to give it a try.

The basic gameplay mechanics are the same but this will have a lot more depth to it. Oh... and theirs freaken Helicopters! How could anyone not like a game with helicopters! I'm just hoping there are transport ones like in BF2 so you can drop 6 guys on a flag.

They mention transport helos on the official website so it looks likely!

Release date is March 2, 2010.

Battlefield Bad Company™ 2 brings the spectacular Battlefield gameplay to the forefront of next-gen consoles and PC - featuring best-in-class vehicular combat set across a wide range of huge sandbox maps each with a different tactical focus.

New vehicles like the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and the UH-60 transport helicopter allow for all-new multiplayer tactics in the warzone, extensive fine-tuning ensures that this will be the most realistic vehicle combat experience to date.

Tactical destruction is taken to new heights with the updated DICE ‘Frostbite’ engine. Players can now take down entire buildings or create their own vantage points by blasting holes through cover, thereby delivering a unique dynamic experience in every match.

Players can also compete in 4-player teams in 2 exclusive squad-only game modes, fighting together to unlock exclusive team awards and achievements. Spawn on your squad to get straight into the action, and use gadgets such as the tracer dart in-conjunction with the RPG to devastating effect.

Excellence in the battlefield is rewarded with an extensive range of pins, insignias and stars to unlock along with 50 dedicated ranks to achieve.

Variety also extends into the range of customizable kits weapons and vehicles available. With 4 distinct character classes, and weapons, gadgets and specializations players have over 15000 kit variations to discover and master players will be able to fine-tune their preferred fighting style to give them the edge in combat.

All of these features combine to deliver spectacular and unpredictable action moments found nowhere else in a modern warfare experience.

The game also sees the return of the B Company squad in a more mature and intense single player experience where the stakes are higher than ever.

This has been added to the spreadsheet, Borderlands was retired to the archive tab.

This is a pre-order/day one for me.
There are some videos showing the demo, looks like they made some good improvements, but there are some big similarities to MW2.

edit: Added to the spreadsheet

Awesome.

Awesome, I will absolutely be giving this one a try when it comes out. Probably on the 360, but maybe on the PC.

I'll also be picking this one up for the 360. Judging by the last game the controller aiming felt good enough, so I don't feel forced into buying the PC version.

Anyone out here in the PC beta?

PC beta doesn't open until December.

Oh, crap. "More mature and intense" sounds different from the more juvenile and humorous tone they had in the first one.

Yeah, the promo videos are riddled with f-bombs, so I'm wondering if that's the route they're taking to arrive at "mature".

Ugh.

Hopefully that's more the single-player campaign, rather than multiplayer.

I'm sure it is. I just get sad when devs think they have to go more "mature and intense". The game was fine the way it was. I don't need to feel like I'm participating in real war, thank you anyway, DICE.

There have been SP preview videos? Everything on the site is multiplayer.

Which is a shame, because the ads for the original Bad Company were hilarious.

I love me some BF:BC. I'll by this day 1 for the 360. Hell, if DS is playing, it may be time for me to dust off the original for some MP action. If I can tear myself away from Borderlands...

Day one for me. Definitely for 360, maybe for PC too.
