I'm getting the 360 version for a few different reasons. I don't have a ps3, but I'd probably do this regardless because of my deep seeded hatred for Sony and their shoddy-yet-underreported hardware issues (yo I had 3 ps1s and 3 ps2s)
1. Controller comfort.
2. Points. I moved in with the only friend I have that cares about points.
3. Games with multiple discs makes me feel like they have more value, dunno why.
4. I'm very eagerly anticipating the March NPDs, aka the document which decides if any Japanese games are made for xbox, ever.
I'm interested to see if I finish the game. 12 was the only entry I did not finish, excluding the domestic releases of 2 and 3, which were simply too outdated to enjoy when they finally hit.
Probably, Xbox 360 for me... simply due to my PS3 is still KIA.
PS3 here. I'm in for the Japanese voice tracks. Hurray!
I have to admit I was tempted by the 360 version simply for the achievements!
I think I might rent it after its been out unless people are saying its a must buy which it doesnt really sound like it. I still need to play FF12 and finish FF10 for the ps2-yes I still have one, just not hooked up. I will also be getting it for the PS3 as I dont like the 360.

I was thinking about this and, if the JRPG track record on the 360 is any indication, you probably won't want to see those achievements. I'll bet a vast majority of them are tied up in ridiculous endgame shenanigans like tracking down ultimate weapons which will be impossible to get unless you played through the entire game with a FAQ.
Based on the trophy list, it looks like rabid completionism will be the order of the day, folks.

Lost Odysseys actually werent that bad, thats probably the closest to a JRPG I've played on 360.
The full trophy list further shows that the hidden trophies are given basically for completing the game.
I agree that the Achievements are likely to be exactly the same. For now I'm keeping the 360 version on my GameFly queue, but these types of achievements are definitely not attractive.

Oh, I know I'll never get all those trophies or achievements. I enjoy games (and RPGs in particular), but I can't bring myself to grind endlessly for 20G.
Is it weird that my first reaction to seeing this was "EEEE! Clemenstation responded to ME!"
...
Yeah, that's probably weird. I need to get out more.

Eh, just go post in the TrueAchievements thread. Clem quotes everybody in there.

Or be me. Clem loves me so much he wants to be me.

Oh? Sweet!
I've got both on order, because I'm sad like that. I had preordered the PS3 one back when it was announced as a PS3 launch title, and it's been sitting there ever since and I'm damned skippy getting the thing just because I'm a stubborn old bat. I'm getting the 360 one just because I can and I want to send the message that I want more of this to Square and the rest of the old-school Japanese development houses.
That, and on a practical level it will allow us to divide and conquer when everyone in the house tries to play the same damned game at the same time again and each run-thru takes a metric butt-ton of hours due to our lifeless goob completionist tendencies.
Forgot to boot up my English-American slang translation utility before posting.

Okay, yeah. That's not a good one to use with Americans.

Or Canadians.
PS3, since I've already got one, and no 360 - the Japanese vocals are a big plus as well.
I'm on the boat that's floating on the sea of happiness for Japanese voice tracks. I watched a Kung Fu flick with a buddy the other day, but he turned on English voices and it took away from the experience for me.
360 here. I haven't ordered it yet, but I will when pay hits my bank accounts in a week or two.

Most definitely. If you spunk up a wall here, you had better get some cleaning supplies.

This alone is a big selling point for me. I wish this practice would be adopted across the board for games that originate outside of the US. Bluray gives enough space to make this doable with no additional effort at all.
Arg. I may have spoken too soon. It sounds like the Japanese voice tracks were left out of the Western release.

I know, I know. I've been mostly avoiding media on this, so I missed the interviews and such talking about how they were planning to leave it out. The official reason is that the lipsyncing wouldn't match up. The insidious rumor mill insists that the 360 DVD version is to blame.

{Steals Bishops Golden Chocobo} Mwoohoohoohahaha!
Maybe they'll do something like they did with Naruto: Rise of a Ninja on the 360 and offer the Japanese tracks as DLC. We can hope, right?

Indeed. That would be nice, but it's probably hours of spoken dialogue. I have a feeling it won't be something they'll offer for download. Likely not for free, if at all.
That's what it was for Naruto; that's why I chose it for my example. And more importantly, it gave us an Ichiraku who could properly pronounce "ramen".

I know the Naruto voice addon was free, but I didn't think it was nearly as much dialogue. Then again, it's been a long time since I played through that game. Blasted MP achievements, I'll never score those!

I endorse this Old Man Fix™.
Ok, I concede to that... if the new one was available on a NES/SNES, I'd be all over it like a rainbow on an oilslick. :)
How awesome would that be, a SNES release of FF XIII...Like when artists release a special vinyl edition of an album. My first FF game was FF II on the SNES and my second was FF VII on the PSX. So following in that vein, I will be getting FF XIII for my 360. Besides, I get to feed my inner achievement whore!

I'll be playing it on 360 for this reason. Install to HD = no disc spin = quieter than the PS3 (I have a phat model). Plus I'm hoping that being able to do a full install will reduce the load times.
Well you have to install 3 or 4 discs, and FWIW my PS3 (fat and slim) are both quieter than the fan in my 360.
Yeah, I don't have a big enough drive on my 360 yet, so that is out.
Multiple discs will definitely eat up the 360 drive. Does anyone know if Microsoft is going make the 250G drive available as a standard accessory? As it is, I am slowly filling up the space on my 160G on my Pro.
I think the DLC voices would be a little hard, if you also had to download new animations for all the characters so that it matched.
Side note I got my PS3 today (or so says the UPS website) I can not wait to go home and hook it up.
2 weeks and 5 days!!! YAY
Hmm, now I'm torn between 360 and PS3. This article claims that the 360 version will get compressed, and a friend told me he read that the load times are only at town entrances, and not long on PS3.
I might end up going with the PS3 version after all. I only own about 5 PS3 games, so I'd like to get a bit more play time out of it.
So, SE released some updated screenshots of the 360 version. They look a bit worse than the PS3 version, though not so much that someone who only owned a 360 should pass on the title.
