The do look alike. It also doesn't help that Lackey is # 41 and Saunders is # 51.

Someone explain his quote to me from last night:

"..and isn't it appropriate that Mariano Rivera starts every pitch delivery with a bow."

LOL I was thinking the same thing. WTF is he talking about? Is there anyone out there who likes McCarver? The guy is a complete asshat.

I'm hoping that when the TV deal expires, someone will throw a lot of money to get the World Series rights away from Fox, but seeing how the deal was just redid, we're in for a long wait.

I had them both on my fantasy team. Lackey is the one that gets enough strikeouts to really be worth keeping. Otherwise, totally interchangeable.

Deion Sanders after one playoff game win threw water on McCarver.. I thought that was the greatest thing ever!

ahh found it

I cannot wait until Cliff Lee is wearing Yankees pinstripes next season.

That is all.

LOL

I think all the Yanks will be in the market for next year is a center fielder.

But man...what a game by Cliff Lee. I hope for Philly's sake that the rest of their staff, which has up to now been mediocre this entire season, is half as good as Lee was.

Someone needs to tell the Philly public address announcer to dial it down a little.

I think Jimmy Rollins meant the Yankees in 5. His bad.

Already making plans with buds to hit the parade.

My prediction: Cliff Lee throws a perfect game tonight. Then Yanks take it in 6 back in Yankee Stadium behind Andy Petitte.

I actually feel thus far the Phillies are outplaying the Yanks for the most part, but I maintain that the Yanks have a better bullpen that allows that for all the come-from-behind victory. Losses like last night and all the of rest, where Phillies squander their early lead must really take a toll on the team.

I still can't decide Damon's double steal last night was a brilliant baseball smart or a idiotic risk he didn't have to take.

I think it was just good heads up baseball. Damon said in interviews that the coaching staff had been discussing that very scenario all year when teams started shifting for Teixeira batting lefty.

It just happened to be a perfect scenario where no one on the Phillies was covering third. Damon said that discussing it and doing it in the 9th inning of a tie game in the World Series are two totally different things and he felt he still had some gas left in the engine to beat Feliz there. If it were Chone Figgins, Damon said he would have stayed on second.

I still have hope!!!!!

That's what it's all about man.

If there's anyone that can turn this thing around, it's Cliff Lee.

If by some miracle the Phils due manage to force a game 7 no way in hell I'm giving Cole another shot.. he's had enough already.. Phils will have to either pitch Blanton on 3 days rest or give J. Happ a shot.

If Lee wins tonight you almost have to pray for a rain out on Wed. or Thursday to give Lee another days rest...

Plus the Yankees are trotting out Burnett on short rest when they don't even need to, but it's not dropping Game 5 will really hurt their chances.

Thats true.. but then again they don't really have a 4th starter... in reality they can drop this game and still have Pettite at home on full rest.. and even then still have CC ready on short rest again.. and the way their bats are hitting its not like 4 or 5 runs given up is that big a deal.

I'm torn about Burnett. On one hand, he's 4-0 with a low 2's ERA in games he's pitched on 3 days rest. On the other hand, when he's bad, he's BAD.

I guess the bottom line is that even Burnett on 3 days rest is a better option than Gaudin, Mitre, or Joba.

So far, he's bad.

The smart move, as per MLB Network last night, would have been to start Gaudin and if he hit a snag, make it a bullpen game. Even if the Yankees lost, they would have saved Burnett for a later game.

I personally dislike Joe Buck more than McCarver. Buck is just so monotone and just sounds bored the whole game, same when he does NFL games. He has no excitement whatsoever even on spectacular plays. He just has a "I'm just so awesome I don't even have to try" attitude that grates me.

Yeah, but senility has hit McCarver like a freight train. If he's not bumbling names and facts, he's spouting off things that only barely qualify as complete sentences.

Mark my words: if Philly can win Game 6, then I believe it's almost certain that they'll win Game 7 if they start Cliff Lee.

I'm surprisingly excited about this Game 6. Pedro vs. Petitte, battling it out like it's 2003.
Will Utley continue his display of power? Will Howard break out of his slump? Will Texiera start hitting changeups? Will the real A-Rod please stand up?

That was nerve wracking...

Need another miracle start from Pedro.. and a non imploding bullpen.

I really hope this notion that only Molina can catch Burnett is finally put to pasture where it belongs.

I'm excited about the series coming back home. Home crowd, Matsui and Posada in the lineup, and I have faith in Pettitte.

I hope so. It pleeeeeases me.

Does it please you because A-Rod gets on base? or does it please you because you enjoy watching him getting plunked?
Your location tells me it's the former. Or maybe it just pleases you when they pan the shots for Kate Hudson's reaction.

Well it's official. The debate over which team has the douchiest fans has been decided in a photo finish.

If the Phillies get to game seven, Sabbathia is going to get lit up. Will it be more or less than Hamels? I have no idea.

But three days rest is a bad idea. It is a horrible idea when it is done to get a third start. Elite pitchers get gut out a good performance on three days rest when needed. Asking them to go on three days rest twice in a row is a real bad idea. That little bit of speed off of Sabbathia's fastball is going to make those pitches look awfully sweet to the Phillies' lumber.

This ain't the 60's, and those arms are not ready to do what Gibby and McLain were programmed for. I've seen it bite the Cardinals too many times. If you can't win with what got you there, then you weren't destined to win.

Yeah, Girardi should have pitched Gaudin in game 5. That's playing with house money when you're up 3-1. That would have given Burnett and Sabathia full rest.

I don't think Sabathia will get lit up. He'll give up 3-4 runs at most.

Either way, if the Yanks don't win in 6, they'll win in 7.

That would have given Burnett and Sabathia full rest.

I think you meant Pettite not Sabathia
