Super And Not Super Street Fighter IV Catch all

It's amazing how much I suck at SF now. I'm in desperate need of a good guide. Anyone know of a good one online or should I just go to Gamestop and buy a prima guide.

This.

Also do yourself the favour of searching up The Footsies Handbook by maj. The thing is basically the footsies bible.

EDIT: Blocked at work, but I think this should be the link: http://sonichurricane.com/?page_id=1702

Been on vacation so was out of the loop for this. Anyone still interested? Still willing to get my but kicked.

I have a small contingent of PC players. We'll get some games in.

I'd love to play again in that too. It was a blast last time.

Official Capcom poll on people favorite Street Fighter character.

They say it may effect future games and licences... which of course means only two of my favorites will be seen in the future, one on virtue of popularity and the other but being one of the SF2 characters. :p

Never going to get my Sakura vs Sean showdown!

Vote for Dan.

Wahooo!

Anyone ever play this anymore? I want to pick this up on Steam but don't want to get my ass kicked by random (non goodjer) people on the internet.

I used to play a lot of Street Fighter in the arcade. Like a lot. So I picked up SSF4 recently and have played a bit, but it vies for time with everything else. I don't have a fightstick, but the game works reasonably well with a 360 controller. I'd cross my fingers that the vote for a 75% off sale wins and then just buy it. At the current $15 I guess it depends more on disposable income.

Cross-post with the fight night thread:

For those who didn't know, EVO 2013 is this weekend. MadCatz is running a ton of deals on sticks as well, you can get the SC5 branded stick for $80, or $60 off the newest models. Watch the stream on twitch.tv to get up-to-date coupon codes, or just check out the MadCatz site.

If you've ever wanted an arcade stick for 360, PS3, or even WiiU, this weekend is the time to get it.

On the topic, I have this on PC and am down for matches anytime.

Very tempting. Here's a link to the MadCatz page with the discount info.

It's worth noting that these sticks don't go on sale very often, and these are some pretty huge discounts. $100 for a TE S is a steal, these are some of the best made sticks on the market.

I still play it a little, but I've only put in about 10 hours because it runs so poorly on my pc. That said, I love it and I'd totally be down to have my ass handed to me by some other street fightin' goodjers.

Oh Capcom, you never change do you?

At an EVO 2013 panel today, Capcom announced that five new fighters will be joining the Super Street Fighter IV roster. Four of the characters have been named: Elena, Rolento, Hugo, and Poison. Avid fighting game fans will recognize those four as characters from Capcom's Street Fighter x Tekken. With the models and movesets already done for those characters, it's probably easier to bring them over with just a bit of balancing on Capcom's part. The last character is an all-new fighter making their debut in the new version.

$15 DLC or $39.99 retail for the new edition.

I guess if you've already got all the models and animations figured out... $15 is a bit steep, but this is better than a whole new edition which was my worry. It looks like AE will be the definitive version for a while.

Fantastic news! I love Rolento!

Elena and Hugo were two of my favorites in SF3. And Poison is still the sexiest transgender of all time.

Triple!

(post) Combo!

$15 is cheaper than the AE upgrade, which has less content. I fail to see how $15 is a bit steep.

EVO is on to Injustice now, so I'm going to hop into some Super SF4 on PC. If anybody wants to play, on PC or 360, send me a message.

Assuming this goes on a flash deal, I'll probably end up grabbing it.... but just some prep before time, which one do I get?

You want Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. I don't think you can even buy the previous versions on Steam, but just in case that's the one you want.

You can still get vanilla Street Fighter IV on Steam. Super Street Fighter IV was never ported to PC so Capcom just leapfrogged to AE when that came out.

I guess I'm mainly comparing it to things like the Darkstalkers Resurrection or Super Turbo HD releases, where you get a full game for $15. I know they're old games, but a lot of work and love went in to those. Either way, I know I'll pony up and you're right, $15 isn't bad. I just need to get a new PC so I can actually run SF4 with the backgrounds on at a reasonable frame rate...

Ultra SF4 was just confirmed for early 2014, with bonus costumes if you pre-order. I'm definitely in for 360, and possibly for PC as well if it gets released.

EDIT: Wow. Just WOW. Those semi-finals and finals were un-freaking believable. Gen? Hakan?!? Phew, what a rush.

So get the arcade edition then? Ok I'll keep an eye on the price. Thanks guys.

New Ultra trailer just came out:

Details on red focus attacks are sadly lacking. I'm excited about online training mode, being able to spar with refilling health can be really useful if you're trying to learn something specific. It will also make the periodic SF tutorial sessions I run a lot easier.

The final new character in Ultra is... Decapre. Basically a Cammy clone, but with a slightly altered moveset.

She may make sense from a story/world lore perspective, but come on this is just lazy. At least the rest of the additions are actually new to SF4.
