What's in the box?!?! Nooooooooo!

What's in it? WHAT'S IN IT?!

Amoebic, how do you get your audio from the 360 to your computer speakers?

Looks like speakers have rca in.

Mine looks like a pile of filth and debris with a monitor peeking out and a controller buried somewhere. No one wants to see that. How this much paper and drinking glasses accumulate so quickly is beyond me.

Yea, you'd think that no one wants to see your mess, but we really all do.

even if it's just to find bottles of lotion and boxes of tissues

I'm more interested to know what's she's doing with the tissues and lotion. My guess is blowing her nose and fighting dry elbows.

This is amusingly accurate. My elbows are pretty dry. Please don't trample the rhodies under my window on your way out.

They're fine, I just took one for my lapel on the way out.

Good lord, you people are fire hazards.
EDIT: Wait, is that a random bottle of soy sauce up there? Do you chug that in between chugs of the Pepto, or what?

It's the only non-refrigerated condiment I have, so there it goes. This desk is my dry goods storage, medicine cabinet, gaming space, work center, and obviously junk drawer. If I store my things in other parts of the house, they tend to get used up by other people before I have a chance to use them : )

Thin_J wrote:

I'd probably sit down, have something fall in my lap from the desk, screech as I lost my sanity from looking at the pile of crap day after day, and then burn the house down trying to set fire to just the desk and all the crap it's buried under :P

I've already set it on fire, so that part has been taken care of. The underside of the desk, anyway. I did kind of cheat here by dumping my purse out in front of the monitor before taking the picture for chaotic effect, as well as the opening of the drawer. It usually doesn't stay like this very long, but the subsequent organizing don't last very long, either.

TempestBlayze wrote:

Two sets of speakers. The tiny computer speakers are hiding behind the monitor.

Great for screen printing one-offs! : D

I am scared to think what the rest of Amo's house looks like.

Nothing like this, fortunately. It looks like a normal house, since it isn't mine, and almost everything I own is in this tiny room and mostly on that tiny desk.

Uh oh, don't ask. My wife has a little box that looks like that, and it's grandpa's ashes.

Not far off, actually. It's an old jewelry box, and inside are a few mementos of people who have passed on, and a key to the fireproof lockbox under the desk.

So what happens when the fire hits? Your key melts away in the wooden box while the lockbox survives but you can't open it...

Also is it Al Gore approved?

Haha yep. My parents should still have a copy of the key, somewhere. The relevance of Al Gore and the safekeeping of my tax records and birth certificate is lost on me, though.

THAT'S where it was! My lockpick skill wasn't high enough to get it on my own.

Now to wait for Amoebic to leave again....

Limited by a dorm room, but I do what I can.

Random myspace page link to the video, but its oddly the only place I could find it... First instance is at 2:18, but the whole thing is great.

Is that a Tecra? I think I have the same one for work.

Looks familiar. I always unscrewed the front off the keyboard tray. That faceplate is very uncomfortable.

I've always thought of the lock as more of a latch to hold the stupid thing closed more than anything else. After all, if it goes through a fire hot enough where the box is actually put to the test, I'm betting most of the lock components will be melted as well. You're prying that thing open one way or another if it burns.

I'd swear that's a military dorm room. Same furniture, same wall, same carpet, same feel. So glad to be out of the dorms now

My "Woman" Cave.....

Notice the girly additions, such as a gazillion I love you mom signs above my desk, a pink disneyworld sculpture and lipstick.

Edited to add more gaming spaces...

The "formal" living room, ps3 and 360 on their side, vertical, either side of TV

My current work/gaming space, in our office.

I have my grandpa's desk in storage in one of our (turned off) coolers, I plan on cleaning out the family room and putting it in there, and then when I get my desktop + monitor back from Texas that's where that will go and I'll have a new, hopefully much more comfortable and personal, gaming space. :p

peacensunshine wrote:

The only thing I noticed was the abundance of monitors (4) and desktop space (a lot).

Do I spy a cattle trailer out the window?

Yep. Got a couple horses and a few Brown Swiss yet.

What's left of our orchard is next to it. It will need a lot of TLC next spring.

/ninjaedit

Its a slick looking trailer.

All you have to do is color in that mural, McChuck, and you have the gaming mecca.

Also: What the hell is that urn sitting by your computer? I hope it's just tea, and not the e-bayed ashes of Gary Gygax.

Hey Ameobic, are those headphones Sony 7506s?

My home racing setup. I'll be swapping out the Logitech G25 with the 360's Wireless Racing Wheel for Forza 3 tomorrow.

That's...wow, shuref00t. That's commitment. I applaud thee.

Very nice. I'm looking hard at getting that Playseat Evolution as I don't really have a place to use my 360 wheel that's coming tomorrow, plus I want the Recaro recline action.

Haha! Thanks, man!

Maybe one day I'll go all out, hardcore sim style, and get the triple-monitor setup, full race cockpit, and Buttkicker speakers mounted under the seat. A guy can dream. LOL!

Yeah, I too was seriously considering getting the Playseat Evolution. Just two things stopped me from buying it. First was how the steering column sticks up in between your legs. I'm sure it's not that obtrusive, but I feel like that's just an odd design. And secondly, from some of the reviews I read, I heard that because the seat folds down for easy storage, the backrest support/padding is somewhat thin and gets uncomfortable after extended play sessions.

But despite that, from the rest of the reviews on Amazon, it seems to be pretty solid overall. And if you didn't already have the Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel, I'd recommend getting the Forza 3 Racing Bundle from Amazon which comes with the Playseat Evolution, a free copy of the game, and 50% off the wheel.

Yeah, I was worried about that vertical post too. Crap! I didn't realize it was also 50% off the wheel. I just bought the wheel a couple of days ago, it's being delivered tomorrow. That and the free Forza would've shaved $90 off the seat.
