Cowboy Bebop, starring Keanu Reeves

Ugh

He's getting better at this "acting" thing, but... ugh.

Is that video oddly stretched or did keanu gain like 40 pounds?

Also "lol" at this movie ever getting made for 500 million. . . at least until they see how well Avatar does.

Which means it'll never get done.

Please, please, please let this movie never get out of the draft stage.

I saw the thread title and said "What?" out loud.

Then I clicked the thread.

Now I am typing as I beat my face against the desk.

Oh no. Oh no no no no no....

Do not ruin this for me Keanu.

What he said.

They're going to make it. Keanu Reeves will undoubtedly screw up his portrayal of Spike. These things are unimportant.

What we really need to know is: who is playing Faye Valentine, and will she be wearing the authentic outfit? Perverted...err...I mean inquiring minds want to know!

They already made an animated feature of Cowboy Bebop. I don't think I'd want to see Keanu Reeves in the role. Actually, I don't think I'd like to see anyone in the role. Spike and Faye and the rest are good cartoon characters because the way they look and move, but that's also impossible for human actors to replicate in live action. The artwork and animation are a big part of what made the show so good.

Plus, this is just going to turn into a generic space opera once Hollywood gets its hands on the property. So why even bother taking the name and characters? It's not like Cowboy Bebop is a household name.

I've posted these news about year ago in anime thread so my fear is they're deep into it already.
However, creators of original are supposed to have strict control over where FOX writers want to go with the story (or at least that's what they were declaring).

STOP GIVING THIS MAN WORK!!!!

Best Google image search ever, and very NSFW.

Keanu's best role

Didn't need to. The redhead was enough for me, and I'm already acquainted with Man Faye.

This pretty much sums up my feelings about it.

Keanu will never be able to pull it off. Frankly, I can't think of anyone in Hollywood I'd want to see playing any of these characters.

Why, why?

I heard about this about a year ago and it made me indescribably sad. Other things that make me sad: the screenwriter they hired has never written any other released movies, and the other movie he is currently also attached to is Bad Boys 3.

I'm imagining they'll do something similar to Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux. This whole project smacks of Aeon Fluxity to me.

Here's the thing: When did Spike ever emote anything in that show other than, perhaps, surprise?

But how do you get a guy who constantly emotes boredom to play a character who is constantly surprised?

There is a difference between a character without emotions and a character that doesn't show emotion.

And Spike gets angry quite a bit.

Spike Spiegel: You said "bell peppers and beef." There's no beef in here. So you wouldn't really call it "bell peppers and beef," now would you?
Jet Black: Yes, I would.
Spike Spiegel: Well, it's NOT!

All I saw was Bad Boys 3 in the vicinity of Keanu Reeves, and my mind filled in the blanks with him firing his gun in the air going "Aaaahhhh!!" and then sh*t gets real, and then the film wins an Oscar for best movie ever.

See I don't believe Keanu embodies surprise. Its more of a confused.
Spike actually knows very well what is happening around him. He just doesn't care. Once Spike takes an interest though...

How bout we replace Keanu with Nick Cage?

Keanu is great at a sort of alien autistic blank aloofness. Problem is, Spike is more casual cool aloofness.

Keanu in the Matrix: *eyes flutter* "Whoa....I know Kung Fu."

Spike in the Matrix: *spits* "Obnoxious little machine."
