3D Dot Game Heroes

I'm liking this game so far, but I stopped the other night at this area which resets you back at the beginning if you make a wrong turn. It was frustrating, but I was tired so I'm gonna give it another go soon.

If that's the forest to find the second dungeon, there is a trick to that right at the entrance of the forest, namely a big blank silver slab. However, with the right magic, that silver slab doesn't necessarily remain blank.

Hmmm ok, I think I am picking up what you are putting down...

Cleared the third dungeon last night. This game is fun as hell.

The fire temple annoyed me, but it's because I don't like thinking. The game is super whizbang awesome, though. Worth every penny.

I finished the Aqua Temple, and aside from being disappointed with the treasure from it, it was my favorite temple so far.

I'm starting to get a *bit* tired of some aspects of the game though, mostly with the repeated joke references. For instance, LIFE UP GET. That was funny the first time, but seeing it every time I get a heart container is getting old. Same with the bestiary "GET!". It's not enough to ruin the game obviously, but I wish those types of jokes had been restricted to events that happen less often.

I'm looking forward to my next sword. I maxxed out the Holy Sword, but I didn't realize that you not only have a maximum * rating for each attribute, but you also have a maximum number of improvements you can make on any given sword. As a result, I put 6 into the Width, but only 3 into the Length of my Holy Sword before it hit maximum growth, and I wish I had balanced those out more. I also think I would have passed on the Beam component, since you only get it at max health and the length/width attributes eclipse it in so many ways.

I will say this, I don't recommend the Oricalchum sword. It's short, and has no length potential!

Excalibur is worth the blocks, though.

Also, you can reset the sword's potential to max, but you lose all the money invested. Still, it's not that hard to come by!

I had briefly considered this, but I'd rather just save to upgrade a future sword rather than re-invest the thousands it cost to get Strength to max. It's not worth it just to shift 2 points out of Width into Length.

I think it's time for a new sig!

Agreed.

I'm getting close to the end now. It's frustrating how many time-limited events there are. It's pretty easy to miss out on one of the best swords in the game if you don't do some specific actions (though you'll immediately know it the next time you go).

Still, I'm having a blast with it. I can't wait to try a new game+!

That comment prompted me to look up precisely what is time-sensitive, and I don't think I'd ever have figured those things out without an FAQ. Maybe there are hints later on towards it, but nothing up to where I've played.

Still, glancing at a few other things, there's a lot more to do in this than I expected. I can't wait to get the upgraded Wire Rod and explore further.

Blegh, already missed one. Oh well.

Probably the same one I missed:

Spoiler:

Ultima Book. I had long finished the Aqua Temple before I even knew about this, so that's a NG+/2nd game item.

Yes, I've noticed things change after temples too (the Rare Fish was my first clue). I'm going around now and talking with everyone before moving on to the Fire Temple. I'm trying to hunt down 3 more small blocks for Excalibur, but I won't have money to upgrade it since I just dropped 2 grand to buy 2 Red Keys to open doors in old temples.

I actually got that one. Mine was

Spoiler:

The From Cave stuff with the Mech Game guy.

Ah, well I've missed that one too.

I happened to notice that things changed in one of the towns after beating a temple. So I started going to every place there were people (that I could get to) after I completing a dungeon/temple. It's been really time consuming. Thank goodness for the wind wing things.

Just cleared the Fire Temple and am now on what appears to be a long chase after the fire sage. I am loving this. The dungeons, the bosses, the fact that there are actual bouncing boulders in the northeast corner. I don't know how Nintendo isn't suing them for infringement, but my inner 3rd grader from 1989 is happy this referential, goofy game exists. Few games have brought back memories like this. I can certainly see how lots of people wouldn't dig this, but it hits me right in the nostalgia.

Oh Dash races, how I hate thee.

I managed a 23 and a 79, respectively. Good enough for government work, but not first place.

Finished the game over the weekend. Loved it.

Didn't bother booking the last 3 bosses. I got tired of the randomly sized hitbox that is the boss of the wind temple, and never packed enough magic to bother with the last boss. Managed to get everything else.

Was also disappointed to find that new game+ doesn't let you keep anything but money and small blocks.

I'm sitting just at the start of the Dark Tower, and am putting the game aside for now. Fun it is, but once the nostalgia and comedy wore off, I realized I'm not in the mood for a Zelda style game right now.

Good to know about NG+, though. That lets me know that if I want to, I should finish the bestiary in this game, rather than later.

Just saw this on Slickdeals:

Gamestop has 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) + $10 Game Credit for $25.50 with free shipping after applying coupon code 2D15. Thanks yuugotserved

Finally got this from Gamefly, kept it for $25. That almost seems illegal. Played a little bit last night and I'm 100% in love. As much as I enjoyed Darksiders, this is the Zelda clone I've been waiting for! I wasn't sure if I'd get pulled into the old-school style of Zelda gameplay again but good lord is it fun.

Just completed this, didn't bother completing the dash races or the block defense, both of those were just too much additional grind to be bothered. But I did do all the signs and all the events. Couldn't be arsed grinding out the little blocks for all the swords though. All in all, very fun, and very, very charming, kind of feels more like it should have been a PSN title for $15 than a full release though. I wish I had something to say about it but in the end of the day it's just 8/16bit Zelda and you either like that or you don't. That said, I thought it was superior to both Phantom Hour Glass and Spirit Tracks

I just started 3DDGH last night.

I'm on a nostalgia kick, apparently, because when I saw Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection of $20, even with my constrained budget I couldn't resist. Then I spent the effort in Shinobi 3 so I could unlock Shinobi arcade version, and just wallowed in the misspent quarters of my youth.

And I aced the bonus level for the first time in my life.

Ecco the Dolphin is still hard as balls, though.

I picked this one up again last night after about three weeks off. I finished the third temple, and immediately used a wind wing to get back to town. Now, I'm confused. I don't remember who I talk to in order to find the next temple.

Help me, Goodjers!

If I recall correctly, instead of going to the desert town you need to go to the inn and talk to the girl in the upper right hand corner.

Recently I was really starting to get into it after completing the Desert Temple: went to get the Holy Sword (playing without a FAQ, and not exploring/talking to every tile in the game after each temple, so it was nice to find) and beating the enjoyable Aqua Temple after a few attempts.

Started up the game yesterday to find that my adorable Poochi the Dog was in the middle of the desert. I didn't save after beating the Aqua Temple. It's a shame, but I'm done with the game.

After each temple you need to talk to whichever sage goes with that temple.

Hey Goodjers,

In fear of reading into any spoilers I haven't looked further into this thread since its purchase so I apologize in advance if this is a repost. As you know, you can go into Atlus' website and obtain non-licence characters:

http://www.3ddotgameheroes.com/hallo...

However, if you want Link, Prime, Megaman, and others....this is the place. I've been up all night downloading and can't wait to try them out <3

Have fun! I'll revisit this when I'm done with the game....which maybe a while...I got a very bad backlog

Wow, I was just mezmerized looking at all of those. But why does the in game screen shot blur part of the model along with Background/ Foreground space? Quite annoying.
