[WoW/BHA] Farewell, for now...
The Good News: I've been promoted at my company again - for the second time in 6 months. Considering my age along with the amount of time I've been there and the fact that we're in a crummy recession, I'm humbled at how fortunate my work-life situation is right now. It's my first management position with this organization and I'll be over 22 people...it's going to be a crazy journey.
The Bad News: I've pulled the plug on the WoW subscription indefinitely. Indefinitely sounds awful permanent, and my hope is that it isn't, but I have no way of knowing just how intense this is going to be for how long. I do know that it's going to require 120% of my effort and focus, so WoW has to go. I have not g-quitted and I am not deleting any toons, so hopefully that communicates my intention.
Why WoW has to go: simply stated, I have a somewhat obsessive personality and I LOVE this game. It's probably a common, typical situation for those of us who've set foot in Azeroth, but I've found myself being distracted by WoW discussion, blogging, math, etc. during my day and I simply can't allow this to happen in my new role. I'm fully convinced it would happen even still active, but I don't want to find out. Short of seeing a shrink and readjusting the way my brain operates, canceling the sub seemed like the best option.
Why I feel compelled to dedicate a thread to this: It probably has something to do with an inflated sense of self-importance...but seriously, I think highly of all of you in the GWJ Alliance on Blackhand. Aside from the usual drama here and there with all online communities, this is a really coherent, helpful, and most importantly FUN group. I hope anyone interested in playing WoW or transferring toons/factions over to Blackhand reads this and considers it. I know I'm going to miss the fun times online...especially raid nights...and I wish the guild continued success with Ulduar, ToC, and the upcoming Cataclysm. It's certainly an exciting time for WoW, and part of me hates that I'm going to miss out, but it just feels like the right thing to do. See you around the GWJ forums.
Best (and cheers),
Arrmatey (and Groggins)
