"Left 4 Dead" Catch All

Yeah! Keep us in the loop. I can't wait to play this.

Podunk, if they let you, please try the higher difficulties and check out the Witch. She sounds like a really exciting encounter.

Forgive my skimming, but is this the Source engine, or a new one?

Source engine.

Podunk, see if they'll let you do some music for it!

I wish!

Splitscreen co-op. That feature itself is enough to make me forget any qualms I had about zombie shamble speed. Bring it ON!

I love Valve. I really do.

I must admit I was totally turned off by the "4" in the title despite being developed by Valve. (perhaps especially because I expected better from Valve) I mean really... are we going to start calling it 1/2 life or .5 life?

But I stumbled upon the game play presentation and while they are biting off a lot with what they plan to do, the game looks fantastic. Its not necessarily the look (its been done to death with the RE series) but the vibe it gives off of the game play is really exciting!

It seems like we are really getting into that golden era of gameplay. I think dev's are reallizing that there is much more room to stand out with gameplay than graphics. This is really good.

*Tried to find this thread in the search but couldn't - thanks for bumping!*

Ugh... i don't like the new character designs for the players... I prefered the old 'universal' looks that were akin to Half Life.

For all you Eurogoodgers, Eurogamer says it's out on 7th November.
Same day Gears of War 2 is released... though I think I'll be playing this first.

At least they can justifty the 4 by saying that the 4 player co-op is the games focus and should be as prominent as the zombies in the name.

After looking at their webpage, I'd like to see more variation in the characters. Maybe the option to customize a character so it feels like you are running for your life.

I was too, at first. But then I realized the "4" probably stands for the four people co-op, so at least it's not just to sound hip or whatever. I'm very excited for this, I just hope the gameplay varies enough to give it some longevity.

That would be cool... but not going to happen in between now and release. :/

A man can dream. I would like to see more variation. If it's just those 4 avatars it'd get repetitive. Doubt they have more and aren't showing us, though.

If you are thinking long enough to consider how nice it would be to have different avatars, you aren't killing zombies. If you aren't killing zombie's, they are gonna munch on your brain. If they munch on your brain, you won't be able to think about repetitive avatars.

It's a Catch 22, man... of the Z kind!

But that is what the Co-op is for. Three guys kill zombies while the fourth thinks about customizing his avatar. Isn't that what teamwork is all about?

I dunno. In the zombie apocolypse, directors will be valuable for leading, but thinkers are just dead weight or zombies to be. Think about it, while they are mulling over the best potential courses of action, humans will be dying.

We need doers. Relators will be of questionable value, but I'll throw them in with socializers who might have some value for reproduction after the zombie apocalypse to rebuild the living human race. Thinkers... they are just trouble.

Still not OK in my book.

(In case your wondering, my book is a style guide.)

Your book is a jerk.

If Valve is considering adding new classes to Team Fortress 2 and has stated they'll be releasing new content for Left 4 Dead after launch, it's not a big stretch to expect new player models.

want.. want.. want.. WANT NOW!!!!!!!!

4p CO-OP FTW!

Those new videos look hot, I can't wait.

How long before there's a mod that only kills zombies with headshots?

As long as the mod slowed them down this would be fine, I can not imagine how hard it would be to headshot 10-20 zombies running full speed at you before they got you. Unless of course they had kickback from bullet impacts and the ability to blow off arms and legs.

Nah, there'd be knockdown and recovery times for any headshot-to-kill only zombies. It'd be cool to melee a zombie a couple of times until it fell over and then hold it down with your boot whilst you held your shotgun to it's head and pulled the trigger...

Yeah, that's kind of the only thing that's bugging me about this game. It seems like there's never any situation where it's appropriate to just run. At best you fall back and kill from a distance but you only move on once everything's dead.

That is simply because none of the videos have me playing one of the zombies!

From what i heard in the June viedo (interview at EA3) the story co-op mode and the PvP zombies vs survivors mode are separate. Which i guess was inevitable really. I think the storymode will be more dynamic but the VS mode will be more fixed.

I'd like to make an official declaration of Shenanigans against Valve and Turtle Rock Studios.
