"A Life Well Wasted" (Robert Ashley's Podcast)

I enjoyed this episode immensely. The amount of work that went into it still amazes me.

I really want the poster for the third episode. Moneys for that fo' sho'.

Seriously. Jeri Ellsworth is a total badass. :D

QFT x 2. She is amazing.

Agreed...and I'm not just saying that in case she tracks me down and sends me one of her boxes of noisy doom :O

I listened to like a 90 minute interview with Jeri Ellsworth about her Commodore 64 project back when Retro Gaming Radio was still around. She's a very cool person and has some really amazing things to say if you're into the subject matter.

Holy crap, you weren't lying.

Her name pulls up nothing on iTunes-- what was the name of her video podcast? Didn't she say she does one?

Her site and show is "The Fat Man and Circuit Girl" (http://fatmanandcircuitgirl.com).

I don't know about a regular podcast but she has some videos at http://vimeo.com/channels/26212

I was so glad that Ashley started doing his own podcast. His spots on the 1Up podcast were great, and the care and love he puts into A Life Well Wasted make them well worth the _LONG_ wait between episodes.

It's weird how ALWW always manages to take me to unfamiliar places in my own head, really moving me and inspiring me. This episode is no exception, although I was completely stunned only once I got to Jeri Ellsworth. Great, great interview. Robert seems to have a gift of getting people to really share. What great stories.

I do wish they were coming out more often, no doubt about it. But it's understandable. He's a freelance journalist, writing mostly about games, where demand for his type of writing was already slim before the economic downturn. The project that makes him no money but probably requires the largest amount of effort is of course the one that gets last place in his priority list.

I always hoped someone would get behind ALWW so Robert Ashley could do it as a monthly thing, but between the economy and the general downward slide of Enthusiast Press outlets I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Right now I am simply happy he has chosen to keep up doing it as often as he can out of his own pocket.

I would be very much willing to pay for ALWW. The gorgeous posters up on the store are a step in the right direction.

Hey Boogle. I'd love to do something in the home state eventually. We'll see what happens.

PS: Oklahoma is awesome.

Not name has been replaced.

Yes, he is very nice and very responsive in emails. I accidentally put the wrong address in for purchasing his cd and he responded right away to let me know he'd fix the address.

This is consistently worth the wait. He sets the bar so high each time that I'm worried the next episode will be disappointing, expecially after however long it takes each time, but it never is!

Episode 3 and 5 posters are being sold now too! I just bought the Ep 3 one, gotta start decorating the den.

Huzzah! and just when I had given up hope.

I liked the theme, and I think those who felt that the last podcast was "overproduced" will find this episode to be more to your liking.

I can't wait to listen to the new episode though I have to reinstall Itunes since I redid my computer.

Another excellent episode. Robert Ashley is definitely my favorite gaming journalist/musician/auteur out there.

I thought this episode was decent. As suggested, I hoped over to Desertbus.org to watch some of the live "internet telethon." They were doing an auction and it was quite crazy. The cheesy editing is getting on my nerves now and I wish he'd just edit in music instead of the silly stuff.

I would like to see him do a program on the older gamer. People so often associate gamers with pimply faced teenagers sucking down six-packs of Mountain Dew when most of them are in their thirties and enjoy a nice glass of Pinot Noir while they shoot people in the head in Halo. He knows plenty of older gamers, including the overlords of this site. I think it would be a good topic for podcasts and one that most people here would identify with.

As a matter of fact, I did!

Absolutely love this show, quite possibly my favourite podcast right now. It's the only gaming podcast that I can make the wife listen to without feeling like she's indulging me

Hope he manages to get them out a little more often, but they're worth waiting for.

Still a bit more than I'd like, but a definite improvement. There were a bunch of places in the first half where I had trouble hearing what was being said over the music, too.

The content is stellar, which is making me really hope that he sorts out a few of the remaining kinks.

I love the Episode 5 poster. I had to buy it. Now I just have to figure out where to put it.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have tried to start her on Idle Thumbs. But it was "Space Asshole"!

This episode kept me company on the long drive to my ancestral homeland for Thanksgiving and it was awesome. My favorite bits are where he gets more stylistic with the editing, like the piece about pressing the backboards for the pinball machines.

Though the horse story was also my favorite bit.
