Rage Catch-All

If there is a legitimate reason sound designers feel the need to use the same two screams in almost all their media when I'm sure there's a plethora of scream sound bytes in their vaults, it is beyond me.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, the movie industry stopped making new sound effects around 1953. They also stopped having new ideas around 1999...

The story as I know it is that it was in a cheap stock collection. Emphasis on cheap. It was replaced by better collections but Ben Burtt when working on Star Wars found it. (To make some unusual and futuristic sounds they went through a lot of old stuff and tweaked it up.) He thought it was hillariously bad and wanted to put it in the film as a joke so after Luke swings across the open bridge he blasts a storm trooper who "Wilhelms" into the bottomless gap below. Ever since, it's been a running gag with sound designers.

Know thy enemy.

This is clearly a propagandist lie spread by naysayers who work for the industry. Say... waitaminute.... Do *YOU* work for the industry?

Argh, really wish I had ordered this during Future Shop's crazy E3 sale when I could have got it for $39.99 now that I know it's Steamworks. I haven't managed to find any kind of deal on this anywhere that I can buy from here.

I've not seen much about the co-op in this game. Trying to decide with this as well as with Batman if I'm buying at release or waiting for some sales or to have stuff on my Christmas list.

I assume I'll get it on PC, after all, it's id (even though here it seems that console is lead platform).

So how's the co-op supposed to be? Separate campaign? How long, etc?

Maybe I'll rent the 360 version for co-op if people are looking for partners, then pick up the PC version early next year.

I'm a subscription post!

I honestly hope it isn't terribly open-world. I get tired by choice. I really just want an awesome post-apocalyptic experience. I don't care if I can be evil or good and how that affects the ending - I just want an awesome game.

Wow...

I can honestly say I have never in over 25 years of gaming thought to myself man I have too many choices here. If you dont want choices and you dont want different endings what is it that makes it an "awesome game"?.

Type of guns, neat graphics, lots of folks calling it awesome?

ME3 is in March next year. After Rage/B:AC in October, you're spoiled for choice in November

But you can apply the GC on a pre-order, so if nothing else pops up, there's always that.

Another option is Assassin's Creed 2011.

@mcdonis Portal is a perfect example. Your only real choice is to play or not.

And for me, it was gaming perfection.

YES! How awesome is that place BlackSabre?

I sent an order through just yesterday, mixed up the delivery address (almost got it sent home, how would I hide THAT from the wifey). I sent an email through to customer support, hoping they could catch it before despatch and I got an email reply within minutes.

Anyone using these guys, I can't recommend them enough!

In case you were unaware, the RAGE iPhone and iPad Mutant Bash games are free now in celebration of 100,000 fans on Facebook. This deal only lasts for a week so grab it now if you want it!

It was just announced as such this week, although it was pretty obvious it was coming when they did the TF2 items during Quake Con.

Soooooooo glad I am getting a new vid card for BF3, so I can make this one pretty as well.

From what they're getting out of the 360, it sounds like it's pretty scaleable. But yeah, I think we're going to have some sweat looking games this fall/winter.

Is it just me or is "The Authority" the most uninspired name for an evil organization ever? Whenever I hear that term being uttered in the trailers, my toe nails wanna fall out and a large "generic triviality" sign pops up before my inner eye.

Everything in Rage looks good, if not great, but for some reason it's not exciting me. About the only thing that made me feel something in the latest video was when the bot was used as a distraction to place the turret opposite. I thought that was neat.

See, I'm kinda excited by it. It looks like it will scratch that Fallout style itch. But not so much that I'll buy it day 1. I'll keep an eye on it till it drops to a reasonable price point. With so many other games coming out, we can afford to be picky. The benefit here is that a lot of them will probably drop their prices to stay competitive with the others.

They are opposed by "The Resistance" it matches perfectly! Where is your sense of symmetry! But yeah, I watched one trailer for this game and that was the one thing that stood out even more than the graphics was the super generic naming.

System Requirements:

Minimum:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 2GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200

Recommended:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 4GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550

Woah 25 gigs. These megatextures better be crazy high-res if the game takes up that much space.

So i might need 25GBs on my PS3? (Ignoring that it might only have a partial install.. I know 360 is all or nothing though.) I'm up for that if it helps loading speeds.

Co-op:

"Do I shoot you in the forehead or in the c*ck?" That's all the choice a Man needs.

That coop looks fun.

Split-screen? As in local co-op? Intriguing . . .

25 gigs? Guess this game may not be going on my SSD. Not sure I have that much free space. It's a 120gb drive but yeesh.

Wow Borderlands 2.. err Rage looks great. Love the potential split screen gameplay.

I'm not sure why but I just think this game is going to tank. I'm a bit worried for id
