Coffee Catch-All

Spending more money results in an inferior product in most respects. The coffee is no better, and the expense and cleanup are much worse.

Absolute statements seem somewhat bizarre when applied to a matter of personal taste.

Maybe it's best to just point to here.

Did some coarse grind french roast decaf in my tea cup infuser in the fridge over night, made for a pretty good "iced" coffee and was strong enough that even with milk it still had good coffee flavor. Glad I experimented with this prior to the heat of summer hitting.

Trying to save a bit of money due to Heisenberg levels of uncertainty at work, I bought some "premium" coffee at Publix and used it in my Toddy cold brew system. The resulting swill made Jen threaten to break up with me. So if you're curious as to whether there's a true difference between fresh-roasted quality beans and the garbage at a grocery store, the answer is a resounding YES.

Although, our local Whole Foods has a whole shelf of (local) Counter Culture bean, and usually at least 2 or 3 varieties have been roasted in the last week or two and can be counted on to be pretty decent. That's my fallback if I can't go directly to someplace like Bean Traders and pick some up.

I don't have a Whole Foods. I have a pot dealer up the street that totally grows his own kale. Does that count?

I'm unrefined; I buy beans at Trader Joes and get them ground in the store.

We have always been at war with Quintin Stone.

So the market down the street carries Chock Full O' Nuts in the 26 oz "Week's supply" that I love. Mmmm.

Here is my problem though. How do I get my morning drive coffee, while on a motorcycle?

Insulated CamelBak.

Second best idea I've ever seen for a motorcycle, after a surfboard rack.

Why aren't I drinking coffee right now?! WHY?

I've only got maybe 2/3 of a cup (volume) of beans left, and I think I need to use it on making cold brew tonight.

Is there a way to make cold brew via the aeropress and pre-ground swillStarbucks I have at work?

You'll pull a lot of bitter out of the charbucks if you go for a traditional long extraction associated with cold brew.
Maybe attempt to fashion a toddy type system using the aeropress.

Put booze in it?

You're not boozing your coffee?

Booze ===> Coffee

I want to make it clear that I'm not opposed to the other way.

This is awesome. I was just thinking about trying cold brew in a normal French Press tonight for the first time. I've never had cold brew before. Does this gadget improve on that much?

Slightly. I prefer my hario Mizudashi myself.

Mmm, I love this stuff so much I finished the whole carton in less than 24 hours.

Hey, now, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own tastes and opinion, and while we may not agree with their choices, we have to respect...

Nope, couldn't get through that without vomiting in my mouth. Without hyperbole, Q-Stone is worse than Stalin and Crystal Pepsi combined.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yo, I eat at McDonald's typically a couple times a month. It's cheap food, and while it's not GOOD per se, it tastes fine for what it is.

But you don't see me waltzing into the steak lovers' thread all like, "Hey, guys, look what I ate today! I'm just like you!"

Just sayin'.

I persuaded my parents to buy a Nespresso system (the Krups CitiZ plus milk one) as I could not persuade them to buy a manual espresso machine. I am amazed to say that is is good!

The sheer ease of use, coupled with the quality and variety of pods, is fantastic. I'm not running out to replace my manual machine, but when it packs up, there's going to be some serious competition in my mind.

I ordered an aeropress to take to work, too. It seems a bit like one extreme to the other!

I believe that's called a "Russian Jackass," but I'm a little rusty on my bartending.
