Borderlands (catch all)

My original job was Red Mage, who never really got off the ground gear-wise. My Warrior was quite decked out though, had full Adaman, I think I was the third North American on the server to get it. Ah, memories. Can't help but wonder if FFXIV might capture me as XI did...no MMO has since.

And I'm actually kinda down for a rocket-launching shotgun. Also, there are no happy times in WoW. Stop with the lies, sir.

That's funny, and I like the character, but damn if I don't wish they'd picked a different name than "Clap Trap." I don't know why. Just turns me off.

It should be "Clap f*ckin' Trap."

Nah. It should be something that doesn't rhyme, I think. Like "Shut Trap" or "The Clap."

Also, holy crap, Michael Zenke! Hi, Michael Zenke!

@Zenke

At least we won't have to wait long to know. Last impressions I'd assume within a week.

A couple high level gameplay videos starring Lilith:
1up - One, Two, Three
IGN - One, Two

So, my reservation with it actually stems from some of their marketing. In one of their demos, they actually got kind of flustered and weirded out because the AI had come up with some sort of ridiculously overpowered rocket-shooting machinegun. Loot in Diablo is created via formulas, to be sure, but each item's budget is carefully balanced. They do the same thing in WoW, obviously, to great effect and lots of happy squirrel times.

I worry that the AI for Borderlands may not be quite so careful with its 'budget' for each weapon. I know they're hyping this as a major part of the game, but I'm not 100% they've got control of their beastie. To me, "we've got like 2 million weapons in the game" sounds more like a strike against than for.

I'm probably going to eat my words, but I think that could be fun. Outside of MMos, I tire of balanced, even progression. I would like a game to throw things at me I may not be able to handle, and also to allow me to get into crazily over-powered states if everything goes *just so*

I guess I'm saying that while I'm looking forward to a "Diablo with guns," I certainly wouldn't mind a "NetHack with guns." But then again, the odds are so incredibly stacked against you in NetHack that an unbalanced weapon isn't really unbalancing the overall game very much, and the experience is varied and deep enough that character progression is a secondary part of the game.

A rocket shooting machine gun? You know, most people would find that INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

Like a lot of things, it's all about which end of it you're looking at.

What has two thumbs and wants a ridiculously overpowered rocket-shooting machine gun?

This guy!!!!!

Of course it's counter-part, the bullet shooting rocket-launcher with the 3 second refire rate won't be as popular.

Hellgate had a few of those.

Seriously.

I'm holding out for my rocket-launcher-shooting gun.

It shoots smaller guns, which fire rockets as they hurtle towards the bad guys.

I can't wait to get my hands a a machine gun that shoots lightning TBH. This game looks like it will be a lot of fun with four folks. Hopefully there will be enough content to keep gamers interested.

Co-op rpg with Fallout 3-like dlc. A beautiful future.

Start at 2:17. Stuff we've seen before but the commentators make it worth it.

Who the hell are those guys and why do they get Borderlands before me?! I can make a cheesy video too!

I am GUESSING they pirated it?

For the 360?
Also, there aren't any leaked copies yet.

Apparently there's at least one!

Game sites were suppose to get a new build, probably the final considering the date, this week (via the Bombcast). I guess a couple dudes who just started a video series got on the list?

No no no ... I need to vigorously clarify. I think a rocket-shooting machinegun is awesome. The rep doing the demo, though, did not seem to think that was a feature. I've since seen them playing that kind of interaction up, but I think it wasn't per se in the original plan. Hence, my reservations.

Looking forward to the chance to play some folks on here. We need to make sure to do a 'Steam/360 username for Borderlands' thread when it drops.

Holy Crap. I just realized that these guys are from my country tied to a local gaming hardcopy magazine. How the heck did they get their hands on a preview copy??

My years of mathematics training let me know this is the same price as the L4D2 4 pack. For the uk it's still cheaper at shopto for a disc copy.

Absolutely, what service could we use? Chipin?
134.97/4 = 33.74

I'm up for saving $11.

Me too! Count me in.

So who's going to start the "fundraiser" at chipin? Lothar?

33.74*3 = 101.22
Goal of 101

PM me your paypal address once the transaction is sent so I know who gave money.

I've never done chipin before. Hope it's as easy as it seems.

I'm interested in pairing with some goodjers to get a 4 pack.

Being broke sucks ass, I have to decide between this or L4D2

From the screenshots I've seen so far, the combat mechanics in Borderlands look a lot like those in Tabula Rasa. Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

This is a co-op shooter with a good amount of rpg mechanics. Not an mmorpg with shooting in place of your normal rpg attack. Even if the mechanics were the same it doesn't mean the quality is the same.
