So is it a new tradition to just veer the trading thread into off topic stuff every few days now?

You must have known what this comment would bring about

Doesn't matter to me but it's annoying to the people actually trying to sale/buy things because their posts are constantly pushed back and lost in the mix as we have pages talking about the merits of alphabetical organization, how many xboxes we have in our house, and how great basements are.

Oh, I see, you're THAT guy. You must be a joy at parties.

Wow, yes I'm a horrible person for wanting trading in the trading thread.

I'll say no more about it, carry on.

I want more trading of friendship than barbs. WTS Hugs(gently used)!

Seconded.

Anybody interested in trading/buying board games so I can free up some shelf space?

All new, sealed:

D&D: Castle Ravenloft Board Game
Wits/Wagers
Apples/Apples
Sentinels of the Multiverse: Shattered Timelines (expansion)
Sentinels of the Multiverse: (can't remember, but another expansion)
At least three data packs for Netrunner (I'll get the specific ones later)

Just looking to see if this is up folks alley or way off base for here since it's not video games.

Damn... 3 Xbox Ones in the house?

I don't see a problem there. One in our living room. One in my son's room. One in the bedroom. Two PS4 as well.

You are my hero.

For sale: funny bone. Never used.

I completely agree with Gumbie. Non-trade talk should be kept to a minimum. It even states that in the original post by Certis. I gave up on that a while ago, though. Now I just post about basements and the good old days.

LFT:

Guitar Hero 2 for XBox 360, complete in box with wired guitar controller. Still has all stickers in packaging, and even an extra Lagwagon sticker on the guitar! Also a shoulder strap. Basement not included.

Will take friendship and the cost of shipping.

Non-grinders and donators only, please.

I still have a Steam code for Rocket League for trade. Will consider any reasonable offer of Steam or Amazon money, or a trade for a game on my Steam wishlist (which I think you can access through the Steam link in my signature?).

The X-Plorer is the best guitar, imo. If I weren't moving in a month, I'd totally take you up on this.

I have a laptop for sale:

It's a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook (model L321X) with an i5-2467M CPU (dual core), a 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM, and a 1336 x 768 screen resolution. It's in very good condition (I'll be posting pics once I remove my stickers from it), is quite light at 3lbs, has very good battery life, and supports USB3. The screen is very nice (glossy, yes, but still quite nice), and it has a backlit keyboard. You can read a review of it (and see pics) at Dell XPS 13 Review: An Ultrabook For Business Pros (Notebookreview.com)

It's currently running a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, but I bought it for Linux support (do a DuckDuckGo search for "Dell Sputnik"). So, if you like, I can pre-install a LTS version of Linux Mint or Ubuntu on it. Or I can even go for the Win 10 Pro upgrade, if you like.

I'm asking $400 for it, plus $30 shipping. I'm open to reasonable offers - feel free to PM me.

Still up for sale.

Is there any warranty left on it?

Anyone looking to part with a high end-ish Windows laptop? I'm trying to put together a mobile recording rig, so CPU, RAM and storage are the main considerations. I'm pretty close to just picking up one of the current gen Dell XPS laptops with 16GB RAM, but on the off-chance that a Goodjer is looking to sell, I'm looking to buy.

If you'd consider a mac LeapingGnome was selling a good one about a month ago if he still has it

I am selling my wife's 15" Macbook Pro Retina. It is model MGXA2LL/A, we bought it last fall. It is in excellent condition, has been in a shell cover since day one and rarely left the house. Non-smoking, no kids. No marks, scratches, etc.

Has original box and all original accessories. OSX El Capitan already installed.

2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz, 6 MB shared L3 cache)
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM
256 GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
15.4-inch IPS Retina Display, 2880-by-1800 resolution
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life

Amazon page with more specs

These seem to be starting around $1,400 used. This excellent condition one is $1,200 shipped to a GWJer.

Boot Camp or Parallels gives you a very nice Windows laptop, then.

Yeah, that definitely looks like the kind of hardware I'm looking for.

I'd rather not have to mess with installing another OS and losing that space on the SSD, but still. That'd be a pretty killer rig.

Sorry all, ended up selling that Macbook Pro on Amazon after no takers.

Podunk, the latest XPS 15 has some bad QC problems from what I've read. Take a look at the new Inspiron 7559 if you are looking for good specs for a good price and want medium dedicated graphics (960m).

I actually skipped on the Inspiron 7559 because of the QC issues. Trackpads not detecting clicks, screens booting to black, Wifi loss due to driver updates. Check out Amazon for some scary reviews.

I picked up an Asus ROG GL551 for $750 and upped it to 16 Gb. Runs all my dev tools and games pretty well and I've been playing around with the Reaper DAW too.

I bought the 7559 and it has been pretty good for me, no real driver problems. The trackpad is the worst part, and it is not that it doesn't work, it is ok just not a great trackpad. Compromises for the low price.

The GL551 is a nice machine too, although I don't think they've updated it for Skylake and 9xx series cards yet right?

---------------------------------
Since this is the trading post, I have some audiobooks for sale if anyone is interested? These are on CD in the original boxes, $5 each.

Clive Cussler - Poseidon's Arrow (unabridged)
Michael Crichton - Timeline (abridged, 5 discs)
John Keegan - Intelligence in War (abridged, 8 discs)
Preston & Child - Fever Dream (abridged, 6 discs)

I pretty much need a decent sized SSD, 7200 rpm HDD or both for multitrack recording and DFD sample streaming. It's surprisingly hard to find a workable configuration in a laptop that is under about $2k. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

$2k seems high. What ever features/tech specs do you need?

Ideally, I'm looking for an i7, 16GB RAM (at least) and an SSD (could scrape by with 256GB, would prefer 512GB+). I don't care too much about graphics, since I'm already pretty well set for gaming with my desktop rig.

Are you only looking at ultraportables? Because most laptops these days have replaceable hard drives, so hard drive space shouldn't be a deterrent.

That's good to know. I'm open to pretty much anything at this point.

Ram is easily replaceable as well. Check out the hardware forum and ask for suggestions there. Lots of advice floating around in there. One just needs to venture in and ask.
