Minecraft

I have a mine near the water and am afraid of the flood risk. Is it possible to pump out water once it has become flooded at all?

It sounds like you guys are having a ton of fun playing together. I think I will abandon my single player game and come frolic with ya'll.

Who is your daddy and what does he do?

I just added a cool utility to the server: an automated resource requester. To use it you just say "req [quantity] [resource]", for example, "req 5 16" (without quotes) will give you five coal blocks.
Here is the list of item numbers. Use the decimal value, not hex.

Currently it doesn't recognize names, I'm debating about adding that but it would require using the right name.

There's not much error handling in it right now, all I've done so far is limit requests to 64 (currently) to keep someone from jamming up the server by requesting 10921412341 lava generators. It also only scans the last line, so if you send a req while someone else's request is being fulfilled it won't be seen, wait for the Done return before sending a new request.

I'm not sure I've ever seen water rise. It's possible, I guess. Anyway, the fluid physics isn't very good as you can see by the myriad horrific volcanoes I created. They don't pour into a basin, they just spread out and stop. I think that if you block off the source, the water will dry up.

I have messed with the water a tiny bit building my bridge to my fort, I noticed that you can block off all "still" water blocks all cut off "flowing" water will dry up.

This plays right into my plans, wait till you see what I have cooked up for tonight!

Nevermind, went ahead and signed up for PP. See you all online.

....Later, maybe? I guess I have to wait til something happens before the site recognizes that I bought it. I dunno.

I think we may have blown up the entire world... Remember the end of Fantasia? Yeah, it's like that.

I just keep falling!!!!

TNT, good fun....

NO MY FORT!

Ok, restarting the server brought the world back. Well, all of it except for this huge gaping hole.

You should have got a orbital view of the map before restoring.

My only regret is I didn't get to see that giant gaping hole filled with TNT get blown up.

You got a picture right?

It's not restored, I think the server was just freaking out from the explosion.

The aftermath:

That's a big hole.

Someone got an itchy finger so I don't think there was a picture of the massive pile of TNT. I didn't actually see the explosion anyway. I just sort of went the to bottom of the cave, Danjo and Druid weren't moving, and there was a lot less TNT,. Then I tried climbing out, fell and died, when I respawned the world was gone.

I say we keep the badlands!

MY MOUNTAIN!

No offence but we might want to think about turning off the req stuff after a while before we end up living a Fallout simulator.

Plus it's more impressive to build something out of what you harvested.

Here's a mouseover showing before and after.

I definitely won't be turning off Requestimator before there is persistent inventory.

Yeah, things are more impressive when they are "built from scratch."

Maybe a way to limit the amount of time you can do it like the /iron command? Say once every 10 minutes?

We should get a new server version next Friday. Depending on what happens I may want to consider generating a new world unless people object.

Just bought the game last night - fired up single player to get a feel. My starting point is a sandy island in the middle of a lake surrounded by some odd looking mountains. Built a fort right on the island and now I'm building my version of the Spiral Minaret out of sand. My goal is for it to be seen from anywhere so I know how to get home.

Its too bad you can't carry a torch in your off-hand to bring light along when you are mining/spelunking.

I might try logging into the server this weekend and check out the crater.

Just got upgraded to Intern - nice! Only took 4 years 29 months. Maybe I will get a tag when I turn 80.

Thank you, I was beginning to worry that it wasn't coming.

I demand somebody sculpt a half of a statue of liberty now!

Why when I join the multiplayer server do I just fall from the air until I die?
*Edit* - Restarted and it works. Yeah!

Or not. The game doesn't seem to be generating the entire background. I just saw LiquidMantis running around in air. If I go to him I fall and die. Weird.

I also can't stay connected for more than a few min.

Yeah, I saw you floating a few feet above the ground just stuck there. So far it seems to be just you. I'm assuming it works fine in single player?
