Anyone know if there is any way to power a piston that will turn on/off a lamp when your batbox is at full energy? I'm using the Tekkit pak.

I finally dove into this game a few days ago. I've got a decent supply of coal and iron, limitless wood if I want it, a friggin huge cave system under my house to explore and mine, and I've just started simply growing some wheat. I've also found some dungeon-like single rooms underground with chests. That was odd.

I need to figure out a system to mark my paths, because I've gotten lost a couple of times underground. Once I fell into a chasm and died, losing everything, and once I had to mine straight up to get out (actually popped out of the ground a couple hundred yards from my house). I'm not sure what I should do next...

I use a compass to get home. I always place torches on the right hand side so to get back out of caves I follow the torches on the left hand side. I also make arrows pointing to the way out or to the next arrow so I can just follow the arrows out.

http://wiki.industrial-craft.net/index.php?title=Detector_Cable You can put one at the input of your batbox, and it will go low when you no longer have power flowing in.

Ooo. The ideas flow like spice...

Now what about an empty tank detector?

Thanks I will totally look into that. I don't put much time into this anymore, so... the research has fallen by the wayside a bit.

You know how sometimes you're fighter wither skeletons and your healing potion is hard to open?

http://technicpack.wikia.com/wiki/Waterproof_Pipes Waterproof Redstone Pipe sends out a redstone pulse every time a unit of liquid passes through. If you have one on the output side, that should let you know when you aren't getting any more out. For a static detector, you could put in a pump that circulates liquid out from the tank, through the detector, and back in.

You can also use railcraft to do this. Use a loader set to 'wait' to fill a tank cart, then pass that over a detector rail. If there isn't enough liquid to fill the cart, you never get the pulse from the detector.

Thanks! That might work - though I'll have to work out a way to let me fill the tank (I usually stack a bunch on top of each other) before shutting off. Maybe on on the top tank? A sort of Hi/Lo indicator? Hmm - must experiment...

I'm sure this question has been answered a million times before. Of course, what minecraft question hasn't. Do any of you fine people know of a reliable place I can rent a minecraft server? I'd like to be able to play with my young cousin but it can't be on a server with other people. He is 10 and his parents are pretty nervous about him interacting in public internet space. (they don't trust you misfits)

If your internet connection is decent, and you have a nice PC, you could run a server on your own PC and use Hamachi to get him to connect.

This video is old, but the principles are sound, and the Minecraft server is freeware:

I run one for my close friends throughout the year. It's pretty simple once you set the port forwarding in your router. From there, it's just giving the other person your IP and making sure you maintain a White List of users to prevent anyone else from stumbling in to your IP (though I've never had it happen to me).

Does the White list function allow guests?

I do not believe so. But you can add and remove users from the White List quickly modifying the system text file for configuration.

I was going through some old saves, that needed to be converted from the old format to the next and found this gem. I totally forgot where I got it from, I think it was a thread on the Minecraft forums. But I took some screen caps to see if anyone would like the the save so they can go poking around the place. I think it is absolutely amazing.

Here is the link to IMGUR where I made a Gallery since i took 20 caps and didn't want to blow up the thread.

Here is the File share from Fileswap.com. It is 440 MB.

Well I guess I can post one pic.

Neat, I will be grabbing that once I get home to oogle over. I think I'll hack in a magic carpet and fly all over the place.

Hey guys. Just got this a couple days ago and I was noticing that I'm not having a ton of fun playing by myself. How exactly does multiplayer work?

Like single player; but you share a world with other people. I have made some awesome worlds with friends. We had a mass transit system to visit. We each had our own mining techniques. And we came up with some group projects like cutting off the bottom of a mountain to make a floating island... with a cascading wall of lava off one side.

There is a GWJ World. Here is the thread

Yeah man, it is really up to you. GWJ have a server up like Blondish83 posted above, but you can always open it up to LAN games as well. What I mean by this is, I have 3 accounts in the house but I have 4 people play at times too, its just they don't log in. They don't have a unique screen name but at least they can play on the same world as the one your are playing. I think making Single Player go Multiplayer was one of the coolest things Notch and the Mojang crew ever did.

Wait, you can multiplay on LAN with only 1 login??

yup just have the others play offline when they try to login, they should still see the LAN game though.

I think he is asking if they still need their own Minecraft accounts (i.e. if they need to buy the game or if they can all use his account). I have no idea what the answer to this is.

Ok I did some testing. You can have 1 non-account holder play on any given LAN world. Minecraft defaults the persons name to Player. I tried to add a second non-account and the LAN game said there is already a person with that name logged in.

So yes you can use a copy of Minecraft without logging in the launcher and play offline but still log into a LAN game. I think that is what he was talking about.

I have Minecraft on all my machines in the house which is 5 total. I have 3 accounts holders. I can have 4 people on one LAN game.

I... I think I need to lie down before I get si-BLARGHWARGHLARGHARLGLLLL

Oh merciful heaven, why would you do that!?

The better question is: "Can I force that server-side?"

Self-loathing.

That would be a great joke to play on someone who lit up before playing the game. Totally freak them out!

Yes. Yes you can.
