"Forza 3" Catch All

It's a good wheel, but it does take some getting used to. Some things will be smoother like long turns, however hammerheads and corkscrews are much more difficult with the wheel. It's definitely the ideal way to play though. Make sure you have a solid mounting surface for the wheel, it doesn't work so well when it's just sitting on your lap.

$20 off a wheel with a Forza 3 pre-order. Think I might have to bite on this one. Although i think Best Buy charges you full price for the pre-order.

Amazon always has the wheel for $85 with free shipping.

I gave in and pre-ordered the limited edition of this.

I can't help it. This is a game I will probably put more hours into than any two other games in the next 6 to 8 months.

Me too, I spent a ton of time in Forza 2 and can't wait for 3.

Are you guys doing the Gamestop pre-order for the extra cars? I would like those cars but prefer not to buy stuff from them.

Yeah, this is a game where I will pay for extra goodies. Normally I avoid gamestop like the plague, but it's exclusive to them so... you know, whatever. I'll contribute to their evil plot this time because I love Forza.

CONFORM!

Deep down inside you know you are as weak as a newborn kitten. Suckling at the teat of your tired cat mother; who just birthed you. You know what your mother (who loves you very, very much) wants you to do? CONFORM!

Thought some of you might be interested in this: Australian V8 Supercars confirmed for Forza 3. Even though I don't watch the supercars these days, since they seem to be the domain of bogans (that's what we call rednecks, essentially), I'm still a bit excited by that

I don't care so much about the supercar models. I want the regular ones. I want the Ute SS or the Commodore SS. I want the VXR8 Bathhurst edition (though that one's from Vauxhall...) with the insane supercharger whine. I want those cars.

Just saw this video posted on Giantbomb and, now, I'm frothing at the mouth for this game.

I bought the racing wheel for Forza 2, but hated it and returned it 2 days later. I might give it another go, though, for the in car view in Forza 3.

A whole seperate vinyl group editor.

YES. PLEASE.

*This is a really frustrating video to watch once the guy starts driving. He's either not really trying much or he really sucks at his own game

I'm leaning toward the guy just sucks at the game. First he whines about the player profile he's using for the demo being set to manual transmission, and then he spends two minutes talking about said Automatic Braking System and driving off the track or into other cars in every turn even though he has the racing/braking line turned on. Then when he finally does start to hit the brakes on his own he comes almost to a complete stop in a long sweeping turn you can probably take at over a hundred miles an hour if you just go easy on the gas and avoid the brakes entirely.

I enjoyed getting another peak at the updated interface, but that's one of the worst gameplay demos I've seen given on video in a while

*note* Screw spellchecker.

I would say that it's pretty hard to do the explaining and playing at same time. That is why they usually have 2 people doing the demo, one person doing the gaming and another explaining the features, etc...

Want. A million times want.

I posit that anyone that whines about using a manual transmission sucks at the game by default.

Especially since unless they were playing with a wheel and stick the "Manual" option is "go up a gear" or "go down a gear". I really REALLY want the fanatec wheel with 6 speed shifter. Works with PC too!

Screw you! Ignorance was bliss!

Oh I know Nim... Clutch pedal too... Beautiful piece of kit.

Demo will be available Sep. 24th!

I have one on order. Will work with GT 5 too!

I'll let you touch me if you want!

Demo looks pretty substantial too. Can't wait to take Forza 3 for a spin.

Forget touching you, I'm looking to fondle your bank account!

Forza 3 has gone gold and the demo will be out September 24th.

Just as an aside I thought of while watching the review for NFS: Shift on GT (Really, who has ever picked up a NFS game because they wanted/were looking for realism? NFS was always, for me at least, that line between Burnout and Forza, erring towards the Burnout/Arcade style), and wondered something. I wonder why games don't keep track, somehow, of your driving style (braking tendencies, aggression, over/understeering, how good a line you take) as a single "driver personality" file that you can upload/share with friends? I know Ghosts in racing games cover similar ground, but that's just racing one person's best time on a given track, rather than being able to race against a simulacrum of a player/friend, which I think might be a bit more fun. Take your friend who has a habit of charging headlong into corners into a Bentley and watching him plow into/through the tyre wall, for instance.

Forza (the original) actually had a feature that let you train a computer driver to drive like you. I thought it was pretty cool, actually. Much like the "train a fighter" feature in Virtua Fighter 4.

I wish they'd have brought that feature back in Forza 2.

Prederick wrote:

To be fair, NFS started with trying to be realistic. They tried again with NFS: Porsche Unleashed which happen to be one of my favorite NFS games in series.
