"Forza 3" Catch All

Ergh. My Gold subscription expired Sunday. No gaming for me for a little. I'm gonna wait till I find a good deal on a year subscription.

I housesitting for a week, anyway. He has the Center Ice package, so its been hard to peel myself away from the TV.

Can't say I blame you about Center Ice. I'm constantly considering buying that next season. As for gold, you just missed a deal on it; Amazon and Walmart both had 12 month cards for $30; Amazon still has em for $40 though.

I doubt I make it for the fun.

But I will probably get on later tonight if some of you are still racing. When I do, ask me if I got my reading done, becasue i really need to get that tonight.

Lupus, Nimcosi and myself are still having some good times. Get on, peoples!

I'M COMING I JUST GOT BACK I'M COMING

That was fantastic and we should do this more often. Finishing out with Veyron Tag was pure hilarity

Now I am a 12-year old girl. Alright, fine, because one day, I WILL HAVE THE OOGABA.

(That was quite enjoyable, and the fact that we haven't done this more is criminal.)

Keep drinking chocolate milk and you will most definitely have the oogaba. Just need to do something about that voice.

Definitely a crime not to play moar forza.

Veyron Tag was great. Definitely worth repeating.

I thought you guys might find this funny... A few days ago I went to check my progress and behold my Average Speed. And then look at the time played so you know it isn't hoaxy.

Be sure to tell your mother bye before you go back to the future.

So, does anyone still play this? I haven't seen many folks playing, and every now and again I get a hankering for some multiplayer.

I'm slowly working through the career mode. Slow being the key word (lvl 7).

I put it ever once in a while when I need to scratch the racing itch.

Needs some fine tuning; driving a car isn't nearly that exaggerated. Seems like it's better suited to flight sims than driving sims.

I think you need that much action in order to simulate the g-forces in an F1 racer. I think it could be more realistic than you think. Of course the car would not jostle that much, but the driver would be.

If anything, it probably doesn't go far enough in simulating the g's pulled in an F1 car (we're talking multiple g's in acceleration/braking,) but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to get my hands on one.

That's not something you can simulate even in a full on fighter sim apart from blackout/redout of the screen at the pilot's g-tolerances. Jerking it around a ton strikes me as distracting and pointless.

Same here, but i'll still toss on and hour or two every week or so, I just forget to hop on XBL while i'm doing it.

Forza 3 Ulitmate Pack announced with all the DLC. Plus they've announced a long term partnership with Top Gear.

Wasn't there something with GT5 with Top Gear as well? Seems like they had the Top Gear track planned or something.

Depending on the list on this, I'll be tempted to sell my current copy and upgrade. Never bought any DLC, but keep meaning to get back in to the game.

Bringing another old thread back from the dead because I'm late to the party. Thanks to Mannish, I picked this up real cheap and am now totally hooked, it's so much better than Forza 2 was (which I liked). I had it a week and I'm already level 18. I'm amazed by how good the controls feel and that cockpit view actually is worth using. I have never liked cockpit view in any other racing game, 'til now.

I started playing again recently. I'm now into R3 cars (think I'm level 29). There seems to be a big gap for me between S and R3. I have a lot of trouble easing into the throttle exiting corners with the R3 cars I've set up. I tried a time trial with an R3 car on Saturday (think it was a Holden IIRC), and it wasn't any better than my tuned CTS and 911 cars.

I've never braved the multiplayer at all. I'm afraid I'll be "that guy" that always creates the pile up in the first turn.

At that rate, you still have weeks of leveling & racing to go until you finish career mode. In the end, it feels a lot like an RPG.

If it's a decent price I could be persuaded. I enjoyed the demo and my brother bought F3 when it first came out... so I may have to grab this one.

I've done a bit of the MP. I usually race a particular class, but those games often have the damage set to "cosmetic" so all the dildos out there love to crash into you. The few times I managed to avoid the pile-up, I raced a good line and would have done well, but I didn't bring the best car for the race. It's still more exciting than always racing AI, I have to try it some more.

Forza 3 is of those games that I wish I had more time to play, as well as a bit more money to waste on fancy controllers. Using the 360 controller works better than I'd expect, but when you're online even the guy with the cheapest wheel out there will kick your butt without even trying.

If you're looking for multiplayer on this title the best bet I've seen is the 2 Old 4 Forza clan at the 2 Old 2 Play website. I haven't been able to arrange my playtime to race with them more than a few times, but they really seem like a great bunch that is very welcoming of newcomers. They organize multiple race series every month, so if you've got the time you'll never lack for events to participate in.

I got a MS wheel for Christmas last year, and I think I still run slightly faster with the controller. However, the force feedback is great if you are tuning a car. Really helps you feel how the car is slipping more.

I'm getting better with the wheel, though. I really wish there was a reasonably priced ($150 or so) wheel/pedal kit that worked from PC to 360 to PS3. The MS wheel is not the smoothest, although it's passable. And I can't talk myself into spending the money on the crazy Fantec one that works on all three platforms.

This can't be done on GWJ quite yet, can it? I just hit Level 37 and am finally putting up times that get occasionally get me into the top 10th percentile!

<--- Would probably get housed without brake assist on.

I still play on and off, and I've seen one or two others playing at times. It's not getting much play because of all the other shiny stuff around, but it would be fun to race around with some Goodjers.
