Random thing you loathe right now.

Our (non-Bisquick) pancake mix has different water/mix ratios for pancakes vs waffles.

If the mix is too runny it drips through the toaster.. .. ..?

Riding in a car where the driver can’t maintain even throttle pressure

Hm, Bisquick recipes don't include water. You add eggs, milk, and vegetable oil.

Saturday afternoon I got a terrible sharp pain in my gut. I tried tums and ginger tea, no effect. When it turned into sore muscles all around my midsection, I decided to go to the VA ER.

They did some imaging and found a problem. Still not sure exactly what it is. The CAT scan showed my gall bladder is inflamed. They admitted me to the ICU adjacent unit so I could be closely monitored. I am showing symptoms of borderline sepsis, so that sucks.

Sunday got an MRI of my gut, and the GI doc told me there might be a cyst or something in my liver where the gall bladder connects.

In order to determine exactly what’s going on in there, they need to drain my gall bladder with a big needle in my gut. Yay?

That is happening today. Right now I am crazy thirsty because no water before anesthesia.

Bottom line is that I will soon be gallbladderless and they may have to cut on my liver. Ow.

I went through something similar when I was ~19, and indeed had my gall bladder removed at that point. If it helps at all, the procedure and recovery is super easy.

Losing my GB did, I believe, start causing food-related gastrointestinal "situations" for me (basically the need to run to the bathroom soon after eating certain foods, like some overly-oily foods, cream/half-and-half, etc). I have no regrets though, because I suffered through 4 or 5 gall stone episodes before that was done, and it was absolutely excruciating.

Hope all goes well for you today, bud.

I have over 60 pages of concussion protocols I read every year as a mini rugby coach.

Luckily, here in Quebec, the minister of Health (along with the minister of education) have mandated that all schools must have a concussion protocol that must be followed when a student (or employee) suffers a concussion, whether it happens in school or not. My wife is the one in charge at her school, and we have experience from the concussions (2 suspected, 1 confirmed) my oldest daughter has suffered.

Does she play soccer or something?

Gymnastics and cheerleading.

The confirmed one was from gymnastics. One of the suspected was from gymnastics, the other was from a sledding accident on a steep hill with a jump that launched her about 8 feet in the air.

Hope she’s ok and takes the enforced period out with grace I know some find it hard when they think they feel fine.

Oof. Cheering was going to be my second guess, but gymnastics makes sense too. I honestly think that folks on bars and beams should definitely be wearing headgear in practice.

Amen. One of my friends from my early years was like this. And a gal I used to carpool with on the weekends if we went home for weekends.

And now my good friend that I go to lunch with once a week.

Pumping or feathering the throttle is the worst.

So.

I need some help.

I just don't have the mental capacity to manage the Secret Stan this year. I've been struggling with this for a bit, because this is genuinely one of my favorite things I do each year, and it's a way I feel like I can give back to this community that's given so much to me. But about three months ago, I was diagnosed with a perinasal sinus tumor, and between the treatments (both the physical and financial toll), as well as some other issues, I'm exhausted. It's important to me that the Secret Stan runs well, and I don't think I can do that this year.

If someone is willing to take the reins this year, please PM me. I don't want this wonderful tradition to fall by the wayside because of this.

I concur. Big loathe.

I just had to reset a password on some EA account to play the single player dead space remake. Sometimes I hate modern games.

We lost our family dog today. She was the sweetest, fluffiest and dumbest dog to ever grace the earth. Thanks Nola for the love you gave us, especially our 2 girls. You will be missed.

So sorry for your loss she looked lovely.

Oh boy, this one brought tears to my eyes. So sorry, bud.

So sorry to hear it, DeJanzie. They give us so much love and happiness, but they do have to leave eventually. I've never become accustomed to it, it breaks my heart every time. I hope your family remembers her with love and fondness.

I'm so sorry, dejanzie. She looked like an amazing puppy.

A sad day indeed. So sorry.

Sorry, dejanzie. I wish our furry family members could stay with us longer. She was obviously loved.

Fuuuuuck.

My brother's only son died at the ripe old age of 25. What a f*cking sucker punch.

Geezus. I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry. My brother died at 27. It's been like ten years, and it still messes with me.

Not that there is much any of us can do, but let us know if you need anything Jonman.
