No kidding. I have to laugh every time I hear an ad touting that a company "is doing their part" and giving people an oh-so generous discount out of the goodness of their hearts.

Yeah I'm confused. I mean Trump is an easy target but in general the show has been pretty good the last 5 years. Jost and Che have been really great at weekend update.

I haven't watched the last couple weeks of remote show but the season up to that point was pretty solid.

I don't really find it funny. Today I watched with my wife when they were doing a Fox News thing that wouldn't end, it just kept going on and on.

SNL, even in its various peaks, has basically two good sketches per show and then a whole lot that went on far too long. During the valleys the two good sketches are on a per month basis.

Worked hard to solve code issue and hit deadline. I did it the wrong way and it's all going to have to be thrown out. Infuriating.

That’s a danger of coding. I’ve hit it myself, back when I did some, and I’ve seen others do it. In the grand scheme, it’s not a big deal, just a setback.

Yeah I've had a lot worse. Since we do scrum here at least I only lose 2 or 3 days top. I had projects get shelved after a month of work from prior jobs using waterfall. Was just stressing to get these last minute changes in and was pretty happy I had it solved. Still we just shelved it and moved on for now.

We have a neighbor who is struggling with bipolar and a minor. Said neighbor lost it today, I saw their eyes, no one was there. The family has been trying to get this person into the hospital for treatment. Psych won't send them. They came at me with a knife. I am fine, no one was hurt. I did what I had to do even though it upset me. Called 911. The young person is finally getting the help they desperately need. What the F*CK is wrong with the system when they let someone suffer so?

Really glad to hear you are physically okay Kiri. So sorry for your neighbor, hope they start getting broader support. Be kind to yourself too in the days ahead.

Thanks Rahmen! It shook Robear and Dr. Incurable up as well ( the family unit) We are all feeling better and did take the animals out for a walk later. I was walking them when it happened. The take away lesson is this. Don't be afraid to call the police when a family member, friend or neighbor is in so much pain that they can't handle it.

Tutorials for complex pieces of software that seem to only be available as videos.

For all that is sacred, just give me a tutorial that is written out with images on a web page I can scroll instead of making me watch a 20-minute video to get the three button pushes really needed to do what I want.

Agreed.

Game tutorials are the same way. I don't want to skim through a video of all the collectables in a game to try to find the bit about the one that I'm missing.

In the case of collectibles I find the videos helpful. Often more helpful that written descriptions of how to get to items "go over by the cliff until you see the large brown rock, from there follow the cliff to the left until you get to the third dark green turtle (ignoring the medium green ones), and then look behind the third bush with yellow flowers on the right." It is especially nice when the game gives the collectibles names or numbers and the video creator puts timestamps with links in the description. Really hate games that are just like "You've collected 99 out of 100 Jade Idols." Which idol did I miss? "IDK LOL"

Screenshots are still pretty good for collecting things. A picture with a red circle or something on where you need to go. Or a map screenshot with a marker, if the game has a map.

For a little more info it's an Apple device. Which boggles the mind that a huge company like that would use FedEx.

Hmmm... if it’s Apple and they’re shipping via fedex then it’s probably a third party seller. Last time I checked apple was shipping exclusively with UPS. We (UPS) gave apple a customized contract with very specific instructions on how we (UPS) deliver their products. Third party sellers do not get those same perks, and fedex would not agree to apple’s terms.

I just bought an iPad directly from Apple‘s website and it came FedEx. Does Apple use third-party sellers on their own website?

Blazed, imo

I seriously doubt it. I guess the exclusivity contract has changed.

Having to cancel a week of pto because our network team was too busy for 7 or 8 months to get a major project done. Now that the deadline is looming for 6/1, everyone loses their sh*t to get it done before the vendor will be discontinuing the product. I have had to go above their heads just to light a fire under their posteriors so our 600k+ customer units in the field will not stop communicating.

One additional(admitedly first world problem) loathe. Ordered flooring through Homedepot.com, free delivery to the store. Its been sitting at the store since last Friday, website says they should have it ready by 2 days ago, called them today and its still not ready to be picked up. Good thing my pto for next week I was going to use to install the flooring was cancelled.

I ordered carpets from Homedepot a long time ago and got the same kind of story - delivered to store, not ready for installation (was paying HD to come install them). After a couple of weeks, I got told they were out of stock. I'm convinced that my order went to a contractor/contract that was a lot more lucrative than my tiny cape.

Big Lots shipping. My GF and I ordered some furniture for our new house from them Sunday online so that we could take advantage of a promo. Their website stated that we would be contacted in 7-14 days to arrange a delivery date and that total time for delivery might be up to 28 days. We figured we could make due until it arrived. They are trying to deliver it today. We don't close on our house until Wednesday. They never contacted us to arrange a delivery date and we only know they are trying to deliver it because we got a do-not-reply email telling us it was scheduled yesterday. Customer service gave us a number for the delivery people that is not in service. At this point customer service is shrugging and saying "we don't know" and our stuff may be sitting in the driveway of a house we don't own getting rained on.

Also my GF's work is being a major pain in the ass by not being even a little bit flexible. She is a high school teacher at an alternative school. She teaches FACS (Family And Consumer Science, what was called Home Economics back in the day). She hasn't been allowed in her classroom since March 13th (not even to clean up food that is probably rotten now or to get her work issued laptop so she could use it for teaching online). She is finally being allowed to go in and clean up and put stuff away for the summer, a job that usually takes most of a full day with students to help, for 3 hours alone on Wednesday... the day we are scheduled to close. We don't know our closing time yet, and the school principal is being completely inflexible about the day and time she can go into her classroom. She is supposed to go alone but our current plan is for me to come with her. The only way she will be able to get everything she needs to get done in the time allowed is if she has help. If it conflicts with our closing time then the school will just have to deal with it.

Slip the janitor a six-pack of whatever he drinks, and you can pick her stuff up at your leisure, at the time of your choosing.

My Xbox One Elite Controller (series 1) disconnected while playing Borderlands 3 with a friend. Then I smelled it. The connection between the controller and the charging cable (while plugged into my PC) has smoking and that classic burnt electronic smell. No idea if it's the controller side or the cable. It's barely over a year old.

Going to get a new cable ($13 CAD) and hope it's on the cable end.

This. One of the first things my father told me when I got my commission was to make sure to put money aside in your personal budget for rounds at the SGT & WOs as well as the NCMs mess once or twice a year after exercises or stuff like that. (I was in the reserves, so it was financially possible.) The other officers who started at the same time thought it was stupid. But the soldiers underneath me were always willing to go the extra mile when I asked them to, and I got a lot more "Sir, if I may make a suggestion...".

(For non-military folks, if a junior officer hears those words, he should listen very hard, because chances are they are about to hear some advice that will prevent them from making a very big mistake.)

Custodial and admin staff. They hold, often literally, the keys to the kingdom. Make nice, every time, every where.

Twitter topics that need more than 2 tweets to communicate a viewpoint, and the multiple tweets are all responding to their own tweets. I scrolled one that was like 20 or more tweets long. I didn't read past the 2nd one, but it went on forever and ever and ever.

This is the honest truth and an absolutely vital lesson that every junior officer needs to learn ASAP. Even now, as a Lieutenant Commander, if my Chief walks in and says "Sir, if I may make a suggestion..." you'd better believe I'm immediately all ears. It's saved me on many an occasion.

One of my proudest moments was when one of my Chiefs said "Sir, there are officers that you follow because you have to, and officers that you follow because you want to. You're one of the kind we want to follow." Made my day.

Joycon issues and shoddy controllers in general.
