Researchers find two ape chromosomes that fused together... in humans

Change is good.

I really wish I could remember more of "Lucy's" profile to see it compared in light of this. Or possibly others like Homo Erectus, Homo Habilus. That split could be nearer or further in our past than previously thought. Did Lucy have "Human" or "ape pairing?".

I'll try to keep that in mind if I'm ever in a car accident, Robear. I'll tell the EMT, I'm not horribly mangled and bleeding out... I'm just a little different now. Maybe better.

Why would that change your DNA? Now I'm the stick in the mud...

Fossilization destroyed Lucy's DNA, unfortunately.

You honestly don't see where I'm coming from when I already made almost the exact same metaphor and explained it in detail?

On the sex thing, sure. But not the car bit, no, I don't see where that comes in except to make my point seem stupid? Somehow? Help me out here.

Maybe the analogy is this - age can change your body in physical ways, but so can a car crash, and both can leave lasting effects. Mutations can be caused by transcription errors OR physical damage to the DNA, not just transcription errors. I didn't think that was controversial, but... Car crashes? WTF?

So that is what happened when they ate the from the tree of knowledge. Interesting...

Still lost, Lobster. Do I need to apologize or what? Not sure what car crashes have to do with damage to base pairs... PM me if you like, or answer here, but radiation damage and carcinogens change DNA just like transcription errors. You said you didn't know that, so I pointed it out. Where did I set my feet wrong?

I'll PM you.

Thanks.

The whole theme of change in this thread has reminded me of why we should embrace our imminent zombification.

Sure, the initial change may be a bit painful, but once we are zombified and shuffling amongst the undead horde, our change will actually have brought us to a higher plane of honesty. No more two-faced dealings, no more lies, false pretenses, excuses or hidden motives, this will be the ultimate evolution towards honesty and true appreciation for others. We will see our prey, pursue it, and devour it for sustenance.

Mother Earth may even appreciate this evolution in her standoff-ish ways, as without the destruction wrought by human ego and consumerism, the rivers will flow undiverted, the forests will go unmolested, and our skies will gradually clear.

(sorry, couldnt resist an opportunity to zombify this thread)
