Questions you want answered.

Interesting. To me it reads the same way as "does anyone want to buy my totally legit game key" or "my legally acquired television". The need to specify honest makes me immediately question you and your opinion.

I think you guys are probably overthinking it. Likely the only reason they do it is because they have data showing they they get more clicks if they use "My HONEST Opinion on..." as a title. Accompanied, usually, by a thumbnail of their own face wearing an expression of earnest seriousness.

[quote=Stealthpizza[The need to specify honest makes me immediately question you and your opinion.[/quote]

To me, that's just one use of the phrase, and usually associated with someone pulling a fast one on you. But there are lots of cases where people emphasize phrases with adjectives, and this to me is just a case of window dressing. I don't see a difference, usually, between "that's my honest opinion" and "that's my opinion" anymore than I see one between those and "that's really my opinion" or "that's definitely my opinion" or "that's always been my opinion".

The idea that people who are lying to you "hide" their motives behind unconscious giveaway phrases is discredited Freudian bullshit.

Is there a GWJ activities group for sharing stuff or events people might be interested in?

Ever since I got an air fryer I can’t bring myself to buy take-out wings. Wanna know the secret? Baking powder. Makes them incredibly crispy.

Works in conventional ovens too, but convection is the way to go if you have it.

I like mine tossed with Sweet Baby Ray's sweet chili sauce.

Yup, I get a couple of pounds of wings and then I do the Serious Eats baking powder and dry age thing, and then stick the trays in the freezer for 4 hours and stuff them all in a ziploc bag. You can pull them out a serving or two at a time and they bake up straight from freezing just great. (see my git cookbook for details)

Nice. Thanks Rick! Way more efficient than making a batch at a time.

...why do we call the track from SM64 "Dire Dire Docks" when the first place you can hear it is Jolly Roger Bay?

Given the choice, I would prefer BW3 over Wingstop, but I would prefer a good local wing place above either.

BWW is so much better. Those are my only two choices in Santa Maria. I hit up BWW pretty much weekly, Wingstop only rarely.

I miss Pluckers.

Had Wingstop for lunch. I regretted it. 1) The wings were burnt (the opposite problem of ***Legion***@*#$) and 2) The cause is about a level spicyer than I remember.

At least the blue cheese dressing I keep in the office fridge was still good.

How did you do it? Tell me your secrets!

Come see me, I will take you to the Wingstop here. We may swing by the Pro Football HoF if you're interested in football.

Pretty sure he's not anymore.

And it's all Taylor Swift's fault.

Are there any sites nowadays that are better than eBay to sell my Steam Deck?

Besides here? eBay is ok. I think you can do them on Swappa now too. Or your local Facebook marketplace or Craigslist but only take cash and meet in public.

FB marketplace went to shit.

My wife used to give/sell baby stuff there 2 or so years ago but then a while back she just got instant spam for any listing and couldn't find buyers anymore

If you want to simulate the Facebook Marketplace selling experience, set up a bot to message you “IS IT STILL AVAILABLE” every 2 minutes.

The bot need not have any code for responding to your replies.

I’m having terrible luck selling my consoles on Facebook marketplace. One person offered less than half my ask, so I replied no thank you, the price is firm. A few days later they replied “how about now?” A day later, they started sending me really nasty messages about ghosting them.

Despite my asking prices being below average, all the replies I have seen to my posts have been similarly annoying. Another person asked if I would donate the console to their sick child. WTF?

Maybe try offerup? I've had mostly fine experiences with it.

hmmm my first thought was ha ha you kidder. Then I thought you might be serious. I haven't used it but was under the impression it was one of the worse places to sell anything unless you are selling stolen property. Were people being overly dramatic?

Yes. It's not any worse then Craigslist, and more user friendly. It's pretty easy to avoid the sketchy ones.

I see all this wing talk, there's a place near me in Blooming Grove NY called Clarke's that has meaty awesome wings. Small independent places always seem to have the best.

This is literally a mean on boredpanda that's probably copying from a meme on reddit copied from a meme on...real life, apparently.

Hi. I hope you are all well.

Who is the artist for this?

The style looks familiar but I don't know the source.

It's from a mobile game called Animal Restaurant.

What is the deal with dry roasted peanuts?

Did someone somewhere say, “you know, peanuts are nice, but they’re not sawdust-y enough. I’m looking for that authentic sawdust taste and texture. Can we do something about that?”

I was gonna say Canadian weather but so far it hasn't been snowcone material worthy up here.

So I am moving back to my home city of 40,000 ppl. It's a midwestern city. Small, but on a major interstate. I think a Trader Joe's would be super successful there. They have a Walmart and a Kroger and a Lowe's. Their Target moved out about 10 years ago. There is no Wholefoods. I'm trying to look up what I can do to be anchor for a Trader Joe's. But their website tells me I just recommend it and they do the rest. So do I need to get on the Trader Joe's board to get any part of this franchise? I could apply for a business loan but it seems like the Trader Joe's aristocracy just want to grab our demand and turn it into a profit center.

Oil roasted peanuts come in at about 25g of fat per serving, while dry roasted ones come in around 14g. That's pretty much the difference.
