Questions you want answered.

I have a full sized air hockey table but I’ve always hated the pucks and paddles that came with it. Does anyone know where I can order arcade-quality gear for it?

I find it funny it's mac n cheese and then in smaller, non-bold font, "with broccoli" but it's from Green Giant, a veggie company.

Well a while ago, I posted that I wanted the question answered as whether I was a 5 or an 8 on the Enneagram and I wanted to come back and post that I did eventually find an answer to the question! It seems after further investigation that I am a 5 with a Social sub-type, which helps to explain some of the reasons I was doubting I was a 5 even though that's what I kept testing as and it seemed to fit me in many ways. But I needed to be able to rule out the 8 and have also been able to do that to some degree. There is still a lot of "8-ness" in me, but 5's and 8's are linked when it comes to behavior so that part makes sense too.

So long and convoluted story short, sometimes questions do get answers!!

What's your MBTI?

I'm an E/INTJ (official test, not just free internet tests, which also come out primarily INTJ)

Got some bad news for you about the official one too.

It's about as accurate as the free internet ones.

Mine's been consistent over many years and I've studied the various descriptions a good bit to know that it's pretty reliable in my case. However, I agree that if someone just takes the test and goes with it, it may not be very reliable, and the MBTI result can change over time, so one could be a different type as a 40 year old than they were at 20. Also, it definitely shouldn't be used as a tool to put limitations on oneself or others. I just enjoy learning about personality in general and I find the types useful tools when it comes to exploring how people may communicate and relate to each other.

I think what is most valuable about the official test is not just that it has a much wider variety of questions than the internet tests, but also you get to sit down with an actual psychologist who is trained in the MBTI to discuss it and interpret it in ways that you can't get from just reading a description on the internet.

Pretty sure you'll find there are a loooooot of us here. Correlation bias with geekdom. And Mav mentioned, the MBTI isn't really that robust a tool anyhow.

INTP for me, every time I take it for work lol.

When I took senior design in undergrad (engineering capstone class - teams of students had to design an office building from the ground up) we started with an HR guy coming in to the class and talking us through MBTI and different personality types in terms of working on teams. We'd all taken it before the class and he had our results at hand.

I think it was useful because he spoke in very broad strokes about things - like calling my group out for being composed of five extroverts and one introvert (waves). He'd mentioned that brainstorming is an extrovert activity - because introverts go through all those options in our heads before speaking - so he cautioned the group to check in with me and make sure I had opportunities to get my thoughts in. One guy really took that to heart and would jump in and say, "[ActualDragon]'s been quiet - what are you thinking?" and it was one of the better group work experiences I've had.

Also an INTJ when I took it then. Wonder if I'd get the same result now. Absolutely still an introvert, and I think I scored really strong for Judging too...

Depends on how strongly your unconscious belief in you being an INTJ influences the answers you give on the test.

Rather than the test, I'd suggest (for ActualDragon) looking at the S/N and the F/T comparisons and seeing which one is stronger or more relevant to behavior today, and that would probably be a better indication of whether or not there has been a change.

Also, there is some specific analysis on the various NT, NF, ST, SF combinations out there that might be worth a look without the other two letters being a factor.

I use the tests as a baseline or starting point rather than a "this is what I am because the test told me so". It's the analysis and where you go from the test that is most important.

My I/E is very borderline, but the reason I go with INTJ instead of ENTJ is because of how I manage my energy. I enjoy being around people and socializing and have no issues with shy or being the center of attention and people looking at me in those situations very likely believe me to be extroverted, but even while I'm enjoying the occasion, I'm losing energy over time and then need to spend a LOT of time by myself to recharge, and that's where the introversion comes in. I also love spending time by myself and could go for days without being around people. I don't' have the same need for people that more extroverted people seem to have and that's because they need people for energy recharge and I don't. Frankly, I haven't really been very mentally affected by this pandemic compared to most other people I know and I'm pretty certain it's due to my introversion. Even so, I do take both INTJ and ENTJ into account whenever MBTI comes up for something.

I'm biting my tongue here. Real hard.

I wonder if it's an INTJ thing to enjoy tormenting BadKen and Robear with this sort of thing.

I’m a Leo. Astrology and personality tests don’t work on Leo’s.

It tastes like fingers, because I'd actually have to be biting my fingers to prevent myself posting here.

I don't believe in any of this stuff; blood type As are logical that way.
