The actual best one I can't find. It gives an example outfit and needed accessories based on the weather of the day. It may be NYC local or an iphone app or something.

QUESTION: When you buy meat and store it in your fridge--never frozen--what's the cutoff past the sell-by date for when you just immediately dispose of it.

Smell or look are my determining factors.

If it's just for me, it just has to pass the smell test.

You always say that.

You failed the smell test, muraii.

Stop smelling all the things!

Still Tasty is a good site to check up on that sort of stuff for almost any food item you can buy. As someone who works for a grocery retailer's customer service center: We would not recommend consuming/freezing any product past its sell by or best by date due to quality concerns.

At what point, if ever, do you resort to an FAQ or game guide or such? I'm im a spot that feels like it might be poorly designed and I have precious little time to game so I don't want to waste it.

However, it could just be I'm a little dense, and even so I'll take joy in figuring it out for myself.

I'll probably avoid looking until it becomes ridiculous, but I'm curious about others' POVs.

I never use one on a first playthrough. Once I've seen the end credits roll, maybe. Especially if I'm looking for 100 percent on some turgid jRPG (FFX-2, I'm talking to you!).

As far as the tree Eleima, I don't know what to tell you. Our solution to that problem was that the tree came with Santa on Christmas Eve a la The Grinch. The rest of the Kringling was done, and then after we'd hung the stockings and whatnot and the kids were all dreaming, my ex and I would set it up. They were always so surprised.

I fall back on walkthroughs sometimes in adventure games, when I'm certain that I know the answer to something but I just can't for the life of me come up with the right thing/combination-of-things to implement the answer. Phoenix Wright games are a good example of this, where sometimes it's like "Look, the contradiction is XYZ, but exactly which piece of F-ing evidence am I supposed to object with on what statement to make that clear?"

To me, my time is more important than figuring out if it is an obsure solution or a bug. If you are dedicated to figuring it out... ask about it in the game thread that I assume is on the forums somewhere and ask for a no spoilers answer on if it's a glitch or a feature.

My wife's father used to believe that the best defense against kids and cats is a Scotch Pine. Very prickly needs, and super full "plumage".

Not a bad idea. Danke.

If it's a Wii U or 3DS game, I'll usually browse Miiverse posts to see if anyone covers it. Otherwise, I hit FAQs pretty early for things like enemy stats and really late for things like puzzles.

If I played Pokémon or similar, the typical class of 3DS game (I guess), that makes sense. This is a Fallout game so not as amenable to that. I know New Vegas is buggy and this is DLC so maybe it's design junk.

I'll give it more time. Thanks for the POV.

The scotch pine isn't really an option in our climes. I had to go with a cheap plastic version, and that just... Ugh.
Son's been pretty good about staying away from it once the "newness" wore off. In fact, he's picking up the ornaments the cat knocks off and attempting to put them back on! Inexpertly, but still. Not much to be done about the cat, the apartment doesn't have that many rooms, we can't lock him up at night and the tree is in the living room. At least it's standing this morning with (most of) the ornaments still on.

Momgamer, that's actually a pretty sweet idea! Unfortunately, we'll be at a friend's place for Christmas Eve and I don't relish putting the tree up when we get home late. XD Especially after a long day at work and a Christmas party!!

Got passed this spot. The solution I found didn't support a particular narrative or ethos, so I'm not sure if I found a coarse workaround or if I give the designer(s) too much credit.

After Christmas, the person/nerf-gun ratio in the house will be 1:1. Should the non-Nerf gun owners "borrow" Nerf guns and institute a Nerf-gun war against the owner of the Nerf guns?

A Nerf insurgency? Go on, I'm listening...

Is that a question? Because that should be a given......

Also begs the question of how did you manage to have people around who don't have a Nerf gun!?

Lay down the rules: are you going to run stock or allow mods, and if mods, what sort? Ammo type definitions is a good thing, too. Pepper-rounds are pernicious.

Run out and buy enough Mavericks to reduce the number of people who are NERF-less to 0. Then laugh as you pour dart after dart into them while they try to clear a jam.

I'm looking for a video, may have been a vine at first, of a guy who buys a pair of sneakers for $1k, but refuses to buy a $1 app.

I believe the term is Nerfsurgency.

Help me with a hammer?

I need to dismember this sofa. I want to get a tool that will help me do this better than I would trying to rip it apart with my bare hands. Since my toolbox consists of a ratcheted screwdriver with interchangeable magnetic tips and some duct tape, I would like to add another to my meager toolbox.

A crowbar would be ideal but it kind of only serves one purpose, so if I could borrow one that'd be the ticket, but no one I know nearby has one so I have to buy, ergo hammer.

I think I need a claw hammer. It can hammer nails, and the claw bit I can use as a pry by rocking the hammer on the curvy bit once I have the tapered end slammed into a joint or something.

There's just a lot of hammers out there with subtle variations that are an alien language to me. I want a tool that can help me mount pictures or pry apart this old sh*tty sofa and not get it all nicked and pitted.

What do?

Either one would work, and even if you bought both it wouldn't set you too far back.

This is a solid, light hammer:

I like something with more heft to it, but I'm used to what I'm doing. Start with this so you have better control.

You might also want to look at a small prybar set like this:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Dasco-Pro...

If you have a car, look in the boot with the spare tyre. Some of those contain a 'lightish crowbar looking thingy' that is usually used for getting off the wheel cover with what looks like a giant flat headed screw driver, and on the other end, the bit for undoing the wheel nuts.

You could use this to pry apart the wooden frame of the sofa, in conjunction with the hammer. It would give you a bit more leverage than a hammer, and being (usually) all metal, a bit more resistance when putting your back into it.

Amoebic, this might help, it might not:

You're almost certainly right about wanting a claw hammer. It's the standard all-purpose hammer that everyone should have. The features that matter are weight and handle material, and they're both really personal preferences. Weight for a general purpose should be 12 to 16 ounces. Handle options are generally wood, metal, and fiberglass/plastic. I'd probably recommend fiberglass or plastic with a rubber grip.

You want a solid metal forged hammer with a rubber handle. As long as you take care of it (i.e. don't forget it outside over night too often so that it starts rusting) it will last you a lifetime.

Awesome resources, folks! They will be put to good use. Thank you
