Well yeah, but attempting to target Strangeblades is always an iffy proposition.

You come at the king, you best not miss.

Ah, I see that my response reads as if Strangeblades were the target. I meant he was the instrument of the assassination. But less of a targeted instrument, and more one of the mass destruction variety.

I'll take that job if I get first interview dibs with the killer.

I'm looking to update the styling of my house a bit, which will involve a new color scheme for much of it. The trim right now is stained in kind of a light cherry and I want to go darker to a mahogany. Will it look like ass if I just apply the dark mahogany stain over top of the existing cherry? Should I sand all the existing trim down first? Should I just replace it all?

Runner-up! No one would ever expect Googly Eye Man.

Ah, nevermind. Did some measurements and calculations and realized that there is exactly one metric f*ck-ton of trim in the house. Re-staining or replacing it would take forever. I'm just gonna live with the cherry

I would guess that you have at least as much trim as square footage in your house, double with ceiling molding, triple if you also have shoe molding. The task gets larger as you will need to pull up the stuff in order to make sure you are not ruining your floor in the process.

Molding is cheap enough, by the foot, that you can just get the color you want without worrying about refinishing, or stripping what you already have. That is unless it is an intricate and vintage molding, like in a Victorian era house.

But by and large you are talking about 50 bucks a room for the wood and stain. I think new molding would save a lot of headaches.

What do you IT types do when you're installing or upgrading software?

I've been updating my Autodesk software. It hasn't been going all that well for reasons which are entirely my fault, but its been a lot if time last night and almost all today watching install splash screens.

Working on several machines at once must help.

+1
Trim, handrails, balustrades. Costs more to strip and refinish than replace ...usually.
Heritage pieces and preservation is a different ball game though.

I hate Apple.

Anyhoo, I'm in the market for my first smartphone. I'm thinking of an Android or a Windows 8 phone.

1) I want the phone to take decent pictures that will look good in a 6x6 inch picture box on my business's news site.

1.5) I want the phone to take decent video that will look good at 720p.

2) I want to be able to surf the web and look at videos.

3) I want access to a large library of games and apps.

Initial capital costs are not a factor.

Samsung has been knocking it out of the park with their Galaxy S3 and Note 2. I do not have experience with either but, everyone I know who does loves them.

Android. The exact phone would depend on your carrier, since you'll be in the woods basically.

Thanks clover and TigerBill. I too am leaning heavily towards the Galaxy S3. What's the difference between that and the Note 2?

Mainly size. I've used the S3's camera, thought not the Note 2. In any case, the camera app in the S3 is quite remarkable. By itself, it's a fantastic digital camera, but the combination of the HDR function and a chunky processor means that the thing takes way better pictures that it has any right to take, particularly in high contrast situations.

Flatulence aside, is there such a thing as eating too many beans?

I had a tin of baked beans on toast with egg for breakfast, red beans and rice with edamame for lunch, and am going to have carrot and black bean soup with veggie sides for dinner.

Too much of a good thing? I mean, low fat, high in fibre and protein. That's good, right?

If you eat more than 1313 beans in one day, you will mutate and become BEANZILLA.

Indeed. So you're saying no, there is no such thing as too many beans.

Not exactly. He's saying you have a minimum quota of beans to achieve best results.
