Have you seen Mike Monteiro's "f*ck You, Pay me" video?

So after watching this video -- which was AMAZING by the way -- I decided f*ck it, he's not paid me in six months and after several emails, so I tweaked my article over the weekend and set it to go live this morning at 7 AM.

6:19 AM this morning, the guy finally writes back, something along the lines of "Er, gosh, did you send an invoice?"

Invoice? I was never asked for an invoice. At this point, I just wanna write back and say "Nah, but I'm good, thanks." I don't even want the money anymore, honestly.

Did you send an invoice? Nobody pays anybody, out of just because. If you don't bill it, you won't get paid.

If I buy a friend (part of a couple) a pass to a festival, should I buy a pass for the SO of the friend as well?

I wouldn't normally buy the SO a present.

It all depends on what the festival is for, and if it's something that you would have done with the couple, or just the buddy.

I wouldn't even ask my buddy's wife if she wanted a ticket to the "drinking whiskey neat, and slapping the moustaches off each other's faces" festival; I'd just say, "buddies wife, can buddy get a weekend away?".

However, you may be required to buy a ticket for both to the "antiquing with your wife in matching cardigans" festival.

I did, actually, thanks for the reminder that I need to follow up.

So my wife and I are looking at mastering some musical instruments. She wants to get more into the piano/keyboard. I am thinking Harmonica.

Can anyone recommend to me a good how to book for playing Harmonica from beginner on up? I fiddled a bit with a Klutz how to harmonica book for kids awhile ago.

Is going offline and then changing the date on your 360 so that you can get an achievement that requires doing something on 12 specific days of the year a bannable offense on Live?

Yes.

Serious question: Does my new avatar bother folks? I'm asking because there are some who are queasy at the sight of blood. It's fake blood, of course, used by cosplayer and photographer Omi Gibson. She does great stuff.

I'm all about finding, admiring and using striking images and to me this one hits all the right notes. If someone is bothered by this they can PM me or state so here. I'll swap it our for my old one.

I'm not bothered by it, but if someone is squicked by blood "oh, that's fake" won't be their first reaction, don't kid yourself

Crud.

Arkham City? I did it for the Calendar Man achievement, but made sure I was connected to Live for the last one on Valentine's Day. Even the people who did them all offline didn't get banned. I suppose it depends on the game, and they'll really only ban you if it gives you an advantage in a multiplayer game. Single player, they don't care about, and how would they know anyway? You were offline, and could have gotten it legitimately while not having internet.

Hell, I went offline and kept flipping my system clock from the min to the max date and back to take advantage of rental income in Fable II and become the time-travelling landlord of Albion. Go back in time, buy a house, go forward, collect 30 years of rent, go back and buy more houses, repeat.

It is a bit creepy, yes. :/

Doesn't bother me, but my general feeling is that if you're not sure whether you'll be unintentionally upsetting a lot of people, best to err on the side of caution and not do the upsetting thing.

Doesn't bother me. Turns me on a little, actually.

Actually, no. No that doesn't surprise me at all.

If you were looking for a reason to change it...

Eh, I'm gonna change it. Better to err on the side of caution.

Aahh, there's the icon we know and love. Sorry mate, hope I'm not a debbie downer, just being honest.

Sorry baby. You know I still gots it right? C'mon. Don't give me that droopy-penis-look.

I think there's a real benefit to keeping the same avatar for a long time, in terms of making the board more scannable.

I change mine about once a year. Seems to coincide with PenguinCon, actually.

I've had 3 over the course of my GWJdom. I'm pretty happy with the current one, though.

I've changed mine once. It was difficult to say goodbye to my old character image, but someone convinced me it was finally time to let Everquest go...

Yeah, I'm not planning on changing mine for a loooooong time.

I switched to my current avatar pretty quickly from my initial one which was also a buffalo. I plan on keeping it as this one because I am very happy with it. It doesn't get much better than The Far Side.

Shocking!

I'm going for double-benefit by having my handle *in* my avatar.

I went for the double-detriment of having two avatars simultaneously.

I'm still in favor of Oglaf's Derp Fox, as seen on this lovely shirt.

Ooo. I like it (of course I also love Oglaf).
