8th time is a charm for South Africa in a cricket semi final.
The folly of playing a cricket tournament in the rainy season for the Caribbean as pandering to the BCCI is laid out. So many matches tilted by the weather conditions.
All about Jimmy Anderson this morning in what will be his final test match against the West Indies at Lords
Only Gus Atkinson has rather stolen his thunder with a remarkable 7 wickets for 45 runs on his debut performance.
Anderson did get the final wicket of the innings though. West Indies all out for 121.
Jimmy Anderson Honour guard. I'm not crying, you're crying etc etc.
I can't imagine that there is another fast bowler who is going to take 700 test wickets, now that everyone seems to be directed towards nonsense pyjama franchise cricket.
So I'll raise a glass to James Anderson - the King of Swing.
Graham Thorpe, one of England’s best batters of his generation who had the misfortune to be active during the nadir that was 1990s England cricket, has tragically passed away at the age of 55.
He was one of the few bright spots during that dismal decade, and served as a bridge into the 2005 team.
It would appear that he'd been ill for a while, but gone way too soon.
RIP Graham Thorpe.
Massive respect to Thorpe.
He was part of a pretty brittle batting order for most of his career, but the job was never over until Thorpe was dismissed. And plenty of value to the cricket world after his playing days were done.
Thorpe’s family have confirmed that he took his own life in what is desperately sad news.
Fantastic scenes today in the English County Championship where Somerset caused a Surrey collapse from 95-3 to 109 all out and win what was a vital top of the table clash, and might just set Somerset for their first ever County Championship trophy.
My 81 year old season ticket holding Dad was at the ground and called me in near tears when Leachy took the final wicket. There was only 5 minutes left of the game! He's had a terrible couple of weeks (you'll know if you read the "Random things I loathe" thread), it's picked him right up.
That Archie Vaughan taking 11 wickets over the course of the match? That'll be Michael Vaughan's son for those wanting to suddenly feel a lot older.
