The Heroes premier was last night, and I found it to be awesome. Of course, I have a thing for side boob (I'm looking at you Maya).

Discuss!

I only saw part of it so far so I'm not reading any further in this thread until it's done.

But, I really wish I had been invited to that party they were throwing beforehand. It looked so fun and exciting and everyone seemed to be having such a great time. For instance, the actors that played the Petrelli brothers didn't at all look like they would cheerfully chew off their own arms if only they could exit the forced soiree immediately, perhaps in a similar explosion as during the series so as to take as many sycophantic tools out as possible.

I fast-forwarded through as much as humanly possible, but wanted to see the "good stuff" so I had to suffer through some of it. God, how stilted and uncomfortable everyone looked!

I had to watch the whole thing because I couldn't remember most of what happened last season.

Also, here's a question to everyone:

Which is hotter... cheerleader Claire or evil future Claire?

Okay, the thread title says SPOILERS, so here come the SPOILERS.

...

I knew Lenderman was not real as soon as Nikki/Tracy walked past him without acknowledgment (he also somehow silently entered the room).

Oh yeah, Suresh, a dingy dock in the middle of the night is a perfect place for human experimentation! Is it just me or is he getting dumber as the series goes on? I expect this progression to accelerate as he turns into a spider.

I was starting to wonder if Nikki was a good actor if she had simply had her memory wiped. After she killed the journalist, I'm leaning towards the former but I'm still not sure one way or the other.

The Ando-kill-Hiro scene was kinda meh. Went far too fast to elicit an emotional response.

evil future Claire is WAY hotter.

Why choose? I'm equipped with a lap and a face.

EDIT: But I'd rather have Nikki.

It's not just you. Suresh is a moron.

Tracy is a new personality of Nikki's. Only way I can see they can explain her suddenly having a new never before seen power. Nikki's got nothing, Jessica's super strong, Tracy is ice woman. Never mind the fact that Suresh determined each power to be unique to a person's bloodtype so split personalities wouldn't guarantee new powers.

Agreed on Ando/Hiro. It feels like almost everything in the premier was on fastforward. Suresh suddenly finding the key to his research, Sylar magically appearing at Claire's (and seriously, can we stop having stupid Bond villain style villains? He spent the entire first season stalking her for her power, then when he finally corners her he lectures her for twenty minutes and continually gives her opportunities to attack and escape?), Ando vs. Hiro, everything.

The premier didn't do anything to restore my faith in the series. I'm thinking they lost whatever spark they had with the first season.

Nikki's split personality stems from the dramatic and unexplained death of her twin sister (Jessica) right? Well, I'm betting that Tracy is Jessica who didn't die after all. How else do you explain the Mrs. Freeze power and the fact that she was in place as the governor's aid the day Nathan was shot.... if Tracy was just a new personality of Nikki/Jessica shouldn't she have been trapped in a burning building then?

Still, I agree with you, I definitely had a Meh reaction to the first two episodes, seems like we have been here done that and everything just keeps getting reset.

Evil future claire can't feel. But you could do some kinky sh*t *Stabbing motion while humping*.

My problem with Heroes is that it doesn't suck enough for me to give up on it entirely. Every time I'm ready to proclaim it a failure and watch something else instead, it shows just enough promise to tempt me into watching one more episode. The season 3 premiere was no different - a lackluster beginning (the opening scene with Peter and Claire was laughably bad), followed by just enough tidbits to keep me interested. I particularly enjoyed the police cruiser footage of Sylar vs. the cops.

Stupidest moment of the episode: Hiro following the speedster's red contrail in stopped time - what the heck was that supposed to be? Shirt particles?

And Mrs. Petrelli, is it really wise to cut loose a known sociopath with electrical powers? I mean, isn't the whole point of your facility to lock up the crazies? Elle is a psycho and without daddy to rein her in...

See I think Tracy actually is a different person. Reason being, Nikki has used super strength as Nikki and Jessica. I'm pretty sure a different personality wouldn't have a different power.

I'm interested in knowing more about Sylar being Mrs. Petrelli's son. I find Sylar to be the most interesting character, probably because the actor just pulls off that character so well.

Also, who was playing the speedster girl? She reminded me of Gigi Edgley (Chiana from Farscape), but I don't think that was her.

My vote is for a Linderman funded cloning experiment. He had all those files on Nikki. Perhaps Tracy is the 3rd of triplets? She is definitely a separate person/body. How else was she working as a governor's aide while Nikki/Jessica was having her (crushingly boring) adventures for the past 2 seasons?

I have no idea what is going on with ghost Linderman.

Agreed. At several points last night I was ready to say "Screw you, Heroes, we're finished", then one tiny little plot thread made me think "Well, maybe this might potentially sort of be worth it", and I kept going.

Agreed again on the speedster. I don't think it was the stupidest moment of the episode (Sylar wins hands down for taking half an hour, a trophy to the head, and a knife to the chest just to do what should've taken him ten seconds), but after admiring the cool special effects, I was left wondering just what the heck that trail was supposed to be.

EDIT: Runner up for stupidest moment - Future Claire attempting to shoot Peter. Five years and she can't remember what his power is?

To be fair, Peter can't either half the time.

Well, the actress is Brea Grant. As far as the character, I guess we'll know when they tell us

I'm still enjoying it, and more or less completely ignoring any of the apparent flaws that have been mentioned in this thread. Sure, they're there. I just don't care because I'm having fun watching the show anyway.

Agreed.

Questions:
What the hell is growing on Suresh?
How did future Peter put Present Peter into random evil detainee guy?

My nomination for stupidest moment: Pyro guy burning someone to death at a gas station. Apparently to reinforce the notion that he's bad.

The other thing that drives me crazy about Heroes is that everyone except for Sylar has absolutely no imagination when it comes to using their powers. If they have a power that does X, they use it to do X and never stop to think about what else they might be able to do.
The worst offender is Hiro: his powers have amazing potential, and yet all he does is teleport from point A to point B, jump back/forward in time, and stop time. Somebody needs give this guy a copy of Braid. For example, he's demonstrated several times that he can reverse time, but outside of playing around with clocks he's only used it once. When the speedster stole the formula, why not just rewind back to before she took it, and put it back in the safe? Oh no, but then Hiro and Ando couldn't have a big adventure chasing her all over the world! Ugh.

I'm with the majority of people here where I don't feel as strongly towards this season as the last couple. For me, the problem lies in that there isn't some big problem to solve that everybody is going to be involved it ( Yes, Tokyo goes down in the future, but only Hiro/Ando are following that line ). The draw for me was watching the different characters interact with each other, and right now we got a bunch of villians loose ( can Peter use his powers inside the new body, or just the sound manipulation once he finds out how? ) along with everybody seemingly following their separate paths. Seems very broken-up and I hope they foreshadow some sort of meeting point to get excited about.

It looked like it was being devoured by The Nothing.

I think as the season goes on they will probably round everybody up into following one major plot line. There just taking there time to get their.

I thought the premiere was awesome! The new super-speed chick is hawt, and I've always thought that power would be the one I'd choose if I ever met a geenie

The future-Peter storyline could be very cool, even if it is full of holes. Of course, anytime any show includes time travel, you basically have to ignore the inconsistencies outright, lest you go mad.

I did think Suresh going down to the docks was pretty hokey, but I can live with it. I don't hold Heroes to the same standards as, say, Dexter, so I might be a little more forgiving than most with some of the silliness. Hell, watching Fringe makes Heroes look like Shakespeare by comparison!

Datyedyeguy wrote:

Well, as far as excitement goes, I think this premiere was more exciting then S2's.

I think we will end up with everyone working towards the same goal, stopping everyone from getting powers. I don't think anyone will be surprised when we find out that Hiro's formula is for giving powers to people.

Also, I would like to know the rationale of why when Sylar lost all of his accumulated powers from S1, he retained telekinesis? His ability is to see how things "work". That's why he can look at the brain and then wire himself to use the ability. His very first victim had telekinesis as an ability. Just interesting.

Actually this premiere rejuvenated my interest in the show, after a lackluster S2.

I'm not sure how Claire expected future Peter to teach her how to use her power offensively. It's not like their powers are even remotely alike. You regenerate! What you need to do is quit your Female Doggoing and find someone who can give you adamantium claws.

The only offensive use for her regeneration is if she uses her body to gum up the works of a jet engine or something. Or maybe she can incapacitate someone by giving herself a disgusting wound and hoping they vomit?

Gameraotaku wrote:

That'd be enough to eliminate me.

Sylar and Mrs Patrelli being related... I took it to mean that she was going to influence sylar into thinking that he was related to her. Isn't her power the ability to influence people or is it just premonition?

I can imagine her stopping your nefarious scheme by repeatedly shoving herself into automated revolving doors at bad angles.

Don't underestimate Ma Petrelli. I think she can f*ck with anybody, both figuratively and literally. She may be the mother of all the heroes. Or this could be referring to her using her ability to pair up heroes for desireable offspring. The season 1 issue of Niki and DL's matchmaking has never been resolved, and we know that Ma P. and Linderman were close. So maybe she's referring to her setting his mother up with whoever to get him born.

Also, I think Maya might be the most impressionable character ever. Must have been really popular in school. She drops her books, you stroll up and say, "I can help you." and next thing you know you're both in the band room behind the drums.

JC wrote:

I think her ability is the premonition dreams, but I think she is just incredibly persuasive. We'll see.

I'm skimming this because I'm a glutton for punishment trying to avoid spoilers, but this bugged me almost right off the bat and I don't know that I can ignore it. Here's Peter standing next to his brother and his brother gets shot. What does he do? Hold him then rush off in a foot race shortly thereafter. Buh? You can control time, Pete! Back up 10 seconds, teleport over to that area and see who the hell did it. "Oh my goodness, it's me!" Or freeze time, step through the crowd and walk up to whoever did it. It's hard not to have those thoughts.
