Bales gone wild!

Actor Christian Bale is recorded going on a screaming tirade against the director of photography on the set of the new "Terminator" movie:

Yes, Bale's indeed gone wild. Perhaps it's a good sign for the film that he's so invested.
Method actors though, seriously.

This is the same Bale that allegedly beat up his mother awhile back, right?
Anger management is your friend.

What an asshole. I worked with people like this in NYC. No reason for obscenity-laced tirades at work. Okay to think stuff like this, naturally. But it's unprofessional to let it out. I guess if he's feeling really pressured to succeed this stuff builds up, but come on. Movie making is your job. Run off the set and scream into a pillow or beat up a member of your entourage.

It was reported as a verbal assault after his mother insulted his wife. I get the feeling they treat those a bit differently in the UK. He was arrested but never charged.

It sickens me to see people who feel more important than everybody else unload on co-workers because they can. Karma is a Female Doggo, Christian.

This incident reportedly happened a couple days before his domestic incident.

This recording was actually made back in July about the same time as that incident (or so the interweb says). Maybe he's had some anger management since then. Or he's just an ass. Probably that.

OK, not to say it is cool to flip out and scream at people but you would [b]think[b/] the DIRECTOR or photography would know where to stand and walk.. Maybe the guy that got yelled at is complete lamer.

Beside when you working for millions of dollars you should not be interrupted by a mere commoner.. jeesh! That would be like the homeless guy coming into my cubical and grabbing a paperclip while I was doing work.

Does anyone remember those YouTube clips of David O. Russell castigating Lily Tomlin on the set of I Heart Huckabees? That was pretty funny too.

The DP is the guy he's yelling at (i.e., not a mere commoner on set). Bale got annoyed that he was walking around off-camera. He didn't get into the shot or anything like that. Bale's apparently a strict method actor, and this guy walking around, checking a light screwed that up. Personally, I'd say it's Bale's own hangup with the situation, and he should learn to get over it, or just forget about his anger, and do another take.

Yeah, apparently she went off on her after she demanded he lend his sister £100,000, and insulted his wife when he refused.

EDIT:

And now in a dance remix!

I'm not sure why this is news. Actors tend to be pampered assholes with short tempers. I prefer the Bill O'Reilly explosion remix.

This article has more quotes from the tirade:

Why does being a method actor always involve a character that acts like an asshole?

That's so 2008. I can't wait for the T-shirts to start coming out.

From my shallow experience as an actor and director-y guy, Its not that the character is an asshat, its the process of method acting itself. Its basically amateur psychological surgery on yourself. It might be artistically fantastic that you can convince yourself that you're Batman, or the Robot Messiah, but to actually convince yourself, you'd have to be insane. And the more times you switch, the more insane you get. I don't like working with actors, but I have to. If theyre method actors, I wont work with them at all.

Sinatar, too bad the airbag wasn't set off in that clip.

All I'm saying is that it would be nice if one of these method actors played a multimillionaire who was so charitable that he gave away his entire fortune to orphans, and while he was "in character" he felt compelled for the sake of his method to give millions of dollars to real orphans. Or to, say, someone like poor Funkenpants.

I'm sure Bale came back a little while later and apologized to the DP for yelling and screaming, and then they got ice cream.

I just like how he gets so angry that he slips back into his real accent a few times.

Screw you guys, Bale is awesome and this only makes him more awesome

Or they go full- {ableist slur} and never recover.

One of the best, most controlled outbursts of frustration at incompetence I have ever seen. Well done, Bale.

You go, Mex.

I can understand the guy.

Just imagine you're painting and someone taps your shoulder and makes you do a mess

It's a bit the same because when you're doing something, and you're feeling it, if someone comes in like a jackass and screws everything you're working on out of complete obliviousness and carelessness it can really make somebody mad. It can!

Big words are never the answer but everybody's human eh. I let it out too once in a while.

Well, as long as you're the star or the boss. If you're not, they'll kick your tantruming ass right out of a job. I find a lot more to admire in the people who are always cool no matter what happens.

Yeaah, I mean, man, no one here tell me you've never been angry about something stupid, I know I have. And, wow, the guy goes for like 4 minutes.

So yeah, I don't get why it's a big deal... Nothing wrong with showing you are into it... It would've been funnier if the DP talked back to him somehow. I'm sure if it hadn't been Christian Bale, Movie Superstar, he would have done something.

Maybe for most people it demonstrates a lack of control but I rather think of it as, like, passion for something.

Agreed. Also, for those defending Bale, there's a difference between losing your temper, and launching into a four minute temper tantrum.
