Battlestar Galactica - Final Season Catch-All (SPOILERS)

I think its fair to assume he survived though.

I assumed the exact opposite. The guy got shot in the back of the head. I don't think it's fair to assume he survived that (although it is a remote possibility). I'm pretty sure he died (but that won't be the last we see of him).

I know this has been round-and-round, but that generally means discussion on the current episodes but not hints from podcasts or other non-aired sources. Guess I just need to avoid all threads on shows or books until the whole thing is played out.

Yeah I think that's actually the agreement we all came to with the last BSG thread, most people don't want the previews for next week so you should really enclose that stuff in spoilers.

I don't think they'd have the whole deal with the lawyer helping them out if Anders was just going to die.

Exactly. Logic tells me he died because he was shot in the back of the neck or head. But knowing a bit about screenplays and writing them, they wouldn't have gone through the trouble of doing that whole dance with Lampkin if Anders was going to die.

I thought Badger, I mean Lampkin was supposed to be dead. I forget what that whole deal was.

If Anders dies, it won't be offscreen. The dufus is one of the final five. Besides, he was hit in the neck. If Baltar can survive a gaping neck wound, Anders can

Preview spoilers:

The next episode preview up here in Canada showed Anders in a hospital bed telling Starbuck to bring everyone to him: he remembers everything!

That was an excellent episode, you could just feel the momentum being sucked out of the mutiny. I hope the mutiny isn't just quickly forgotten about.

Yeah, what was the significance of that "crack"? I didn't get it...

I think that had Galactica jumped she would have gone kaplooey, and Chief realized how close they had been to death.

I think they're also trying to make a point that the ship is wearing out. When Tyrol crawled out of the vent and was met at gunpoint by one of the insurrectionists, they heard a noise and a comment was made about the condition of the ship. I can't remember the exact wording, but I know it had to do with wear and tear (no pun intended) of the ship.

I saw the crack as the chief realizing that without his oversight on the engineers, the ship was falling apart. It was mean to serve as Tyrol's wake up that Galactica, and by extension his shipmates, needed him to return to the ship and see his duties through to the end.

Then again, I could just be over analyzing.

And Tigh said something to that effect in the previous episode when the com arrays started to "fail".

Watching the episode again today it looks like Anders was hit with a ricochet from the marine, not a straight shot. I'm no ballistics expert but I'll buy that as a reason why Anders didn't get a huge hole blown through his neck.

Well, considering the preview for next week showed Ellen resurrecting, I'd say, it matters diddly squat if he lives or not.

I assume she would have been resurrected when Tigh killed her on New Caprica, prior to the resurrection-node-thing being destroyed. I'm guessing at least part of the episode will explain what she's been doing in the meantime.

Some of us avoid the previews.

Thread title has a big "SPOILERS" warning in it, you know.

Awesome. Just Awesome.

I don't know. I enjoyed the episode but I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that scene.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a sucker for a cheesy "Get the hell out of our galaxy" speech

So with all the killing and fighting that took place plus who knows how many took part in the mutiny. The Galactica I imagine is in serious need for replacements. With the unwillingness to give the Cylons a seat on the quorum how long till they integrate them into the military on the Galactica? Be neat to see some Centurians as security against another coup.

I'm surprised they haven't had their pilots doing some training with the Cylon fighter ships. Does that starbase still have fighter ships? If the other Cylons show up how will they be able to tell rebel cyclons from the other cylons?

That Cylon starbase is a problem and I am betting they get rid of it.

don't the cylon fighting ships have no pilots, but are autonomous beings?

Yeah they are drones, but if they have to fight along side humans it would be helpful to coordinate some tactics. Let alone paint them or something so they don't have friendly fire incidents going on. I don't see why the skin jobs couldn't pilot some vipers too once they have training.

Oh and something interesting that I just found out about.

Same here. I was just sitting there thinking... "GO GO GO...KICK THAT ASS!!!"

The normal Raiders lack traditional pilots, but the Heavy Raiders introduced at the start of season 2 (and recently used in the attack on the Resurrection Hub to tow the Vipers) have pilots and can carry other personnel.

As for having the "skin jobs" pilot Vipers as well, some moron decided it was a good idea to sacrifice the battlestar with the Viper factory on it instead of Galactica at the Battle of New Caprica.

Actually, that was some quick thinking on Lee's part. After the dramatic and heart-wrenching goodbye where he leaves his father and the Galactica behind to their uncertain fates, he suddenly remembered the name of the TV show he was on.

Ok, so dumb question: exactly how many episodes are left?

And I never properly expressed my outrage at Zarek's senseless killing of the deckchief from Pegasus (can't remember his name) when he was escaping Galactica. I liked that guy, and especially knowing what he's been through, seeing him killed off like that was painful.

There should have been a whole of Marines seated in that airlock with Gaeta and Zarek.

Probably a lot of fraking Brother Cavil. But you make a good point. She was killed when the resurrection hub was still available, but it would mean that the traditional resurrection hub had bodies for each of the final five, which would have made knowing their identity trivial. Unless they do a good job explaining why they don't see hundreds of the final five sitting around on their resurrection ship, I'm going to be very disappointed (unless she resurrects elsewhere, which would be fine by me).

Seriously, those guys are changing allegiances more often than they change their underwear. I guess Adama figures Gaeta and Zarek are expendable whereas he can't afford to be so glib with his fighting force and limited pool of potential replacements.

Reaper81 wrote:

I think the way they did it is fairly consistent with insurrection - you execute the leaders, and grant (at least some) clemency to the people who followed along with it. Earlier in this thread there was discussion on why some people could have seen Gaeta's cause as just, and the cost in lives was already far too high. I think the Lt. who was receiving the call from Gaeta to carry out the execution should have been lined up there, too, but a good number of the Marines (and pilots, etc.) need to be forgiven.

I think that Adama was forced to execute Gaeta and Zarek as an example to the rest of the fleet. I really don't think he truly wanted to kill anyone, even as pissed off as he was. It seems to me to be more of a case of "if you start an insurrection, the penalty is death." Otherwise I would think that the airlock also would have contained the pilot who said he can't take orders from someone who sides with the Cylons.

Earth, maybe? Granted that quick shot of Helen resurrecting, looked like it was inside of a Cylon Basestar, but I always felt the fleet left Earth too quickly and should explored the planet a little more thoroughly.

One more thing I just realized. Now that Helen is back, how is that going to affect Tigh and 6's relationship, especially with 6 being pregnant? What are the odds 6 and Helen will be throwing down at some point in the near future?

Well, they could have been the first of many (or the last of many). I can't see Adama being someone who goes soft when there's mutiny about. At the very least the brig should be starting to look rather crowded for a while.

How do they go on from here. Now they are forced to work with people that tried to kill them. People that aren't cyons.

Did anyone else love how Zarek murdered the Quorum? It was so out of character, but also really believable. Of course, does this mean that the Roslin and Adama dictatorship is final? Oh, look at me. All excited again.
