It's the Great Pile, Charlie Brown

Go ahead and put me down for Doom 3 on PC and the expansion for it as well if you would.

Also any way to get Diablo 2 and it's expansion added to the list in prep for (eventually) Diablo 3?

Done and done.

Nothing too old for this list, but it can be too new.

One thing to add, we usually do this every month, so dumping 12 games at once will make me a little grumpy. Some people do finish all 12, but usually there's carry-over month to month to month. So, be realistic in your selection.

The exception to this is this month's list. This will carry until at least January. There's too much stuff coming out soon and a lot of people will just be paying the pile lip service.

Anyone have any tips for beating those damn plants in The Witcher? I'm in chapter 2 going to the swamps and the damn things are killing me again and again.

Run away, you're not ready for them yet. The Witcher doesn't mind if it throws you up against an impossibly hard fight every now and then. Also run from any Bloodzuigers (sp?) if there's more than one or they're in a group.

I did not touch them for a long time. Run away, and run fast. They hurt. You could possibly take them if you had some potions to up your health regeneration and perception, but even then a good Strong Silver stance is needed.

Thanks, that starts to make some sense then. So, I should haul ass by with Gramps in-tow?

Ah yes, that quest. I had a problem with it. Just drink a health regeneration and make a beeline for where gramps wants to be going. He should be ok. He's lived in that swamp for his entire life so I doubt he would choose now to die

Actually, scratch me off of Fallout and add me to Descent: Freespace. The first one, not the expansion, which I believe was called "The Silent Threat". I'm in the mood for some space combat, and I hear this is a good one. Thank you, Good Old Games.

Yep, I remember that quest as well. Make sure to visit him in his hut afterwards too. He's got a nice twist on the low-carb diet.

Woot! Final Fantasy IV DS conquered today. Utterly fantastic remake of a wonderful game!

Add Crysis for me too, please. I just finished Crysis: Warhead, and it's making me want to go back and actually finish the first one...

I just started Max Payne and am currently working through BioShock (am right after when the trees got killed). After those two come Crysis and F.E.A.R.

Ding!

Crisis Core done. Was a lot closer to the end than I thought (1/2 hour playing time). Although the end sequence massively overstayed it's welcome.

I would add another to the list... but I'm not sure what it'll be. We'll see soon enough I'm sure.

Finished Indigo Prophecy. Everything everyone's said about the last few hours is true, without exaggeration. Still a great game overall and I'll probably go through it again at some point.

Dude, do you hate your thumbs that much? Fahrenheit is still the only game that has made my hands bleed, and I played many a game of "bloody knuckles" on the playground.

Well, I played it on the PC and didn't really have a problem with the button sequences. If anything, they were pretty easy all throughout the game. The only time I had a problem was when I was playing late one night and my fiancee heard me slamming the left and right arrow keys in one of those left/right alternating sequences. I've been following along with the 1UP FM and noticed the other PC players were having an easy time with it.

Lost Odyssey is DONE! Woo! What a ride. Not sure what game I should go for next. Hmm...

Made it through Act 1 of The Witcher. Combat is getting a bit monotonous, but otherwise I'm liking it a lot.

I just beat Crysis. Holy crap that was short!

::installs Warhead::

I don't remember if I put it on my List. But I finally tacked LOST Via Domus on the 360. Man, that freaking smoke monster was a thorn in my side let me tell you!

I beat Fallout today. I know that I missed some parts, but I definitely had fun with it. I can see why it's such a popular game. For some odd reason, it makes me want to go back and play Star Control 2, if I can find the disks. I never really did finish the game, as I failed to do something in time. I wonder why Star Control 2 doesn't get talked about more?

Mage Knight: Apocalypse is not going to be beaten by me, ever. It frequently crashes to desktop, and occasionally reboots my machine without any sort of warning. My character could freeze if I was using a skill on an enemy but they were killed by one of my teammates, with the only resolution being saving and reloading and having to redo the entire map. I got to a point where it'd crash almost every time I fought someone, and the game is no where near interesting enough to warrant playing under such conditions.

I think I'll just play around with Fallout 2 again until Fallout 3 is out.

One of the great classic games. Let's hope Fallout doesn't follow the same pattern.

Okay, I've gone back to the pile. I'm going to try Myst III again. I say "again" as if I'd gave it a real attempt. A couple of years ago I bought it, installed it, sat through the intro, chased a guy into a book, and never ran it again. Eventually an OS reinstall resulted in it not being installed anymore. So, here I go. And I've actually made progress.

That's exactly what I have done with Penumbra: Overture, except that I have never gone back to it. Yet.

Right now, put me down for Descent: Freespace (PC). If I finish that, I might go on to the second one...

I'm making progress on Myst III, which is good. I'm on the 4th world. I've sadly had to resort to a walkthrough a couple of times due to "pixelFemale Doggoing" (no further progress can be made until you find a particular set of pixels to click).

Put me down for Gears of War (multi). Got most of the way through it when I rented it, bought it and it's just been sitting there ever since.

Penumbra requires a certain atmosphere in order to be playable: Midnight, with headphones, after the rest of the house has gone to bed. And with a little luck, you won't wake anyone with your jumping at every turn. That's why I put it down. I think I took a few years off my heart, what with the "Holy Crap!!!!" moments, and I don't particularly care to do it again right now.

Myst III is finished. I don't know if I just don't have the patience for these types of games any more or if this one simply wasn't as good as it should have been. Too many machines where you have to figure out how to work it, yet at the same time you're not sure what the end result should be. Too many little travel points which exist just to pad out the space between important locations -- except the few where you're supposed to look all around and make note of a tiny detail or control. Which means you have to scrutinize all of them or miss something important.

As of now, I do not have any games; however, by December, I should have quite a pile. Let's see here...

The Witcher
FarCry 2
Bully
GTA 4
Dead Space
Fallout 3
Crysis: Warhead
Left 4 Dead

Myst III was not made by Cyan. Check out Uru: Ages of Myst if you haven't yet. It's a much better continuation of the series.
