500$ for decent 37/42" flat screen?

CDN $

Is this reasonable? I've been to a few places most seem to be ~800 give or take some.

Linking the TV might be helpful for those of us interesting in giving any worthwhile feedback.

It certainly sounds good, but who can tell.

No sorry, there is no TV in mind. I am trying to find a good one for around 500 bucks heh.

It's possible.

I tend to give sets a +/- $100 rule considering tax, shipping and whatnot. I kinda doubt you'd be able to find that specific set in stores without a special order, but includes just about everything you'd need. Getting a decent 42" for under $700 is lofty at this point, but you can find the same set I linked in that size for around $699.

Not entirely true. Newegg has a 42" 720p LCD that's been reviewed fairly well over there. No time to link it, but a search for Corion turns it up.

You can get a good (Panasonic or Samsung) 42-inch plasma for around $700 at a place like Costco. From what I've seen LCD sets cost a hundred or two bucks more for the same level of quality. A $500 price target is closer to the 32-inch range, but there are always sales and bargains around various websites. I like buying from a store like Costco because of the three-month return policy and no need to deal with shipping.

Good advice thanks. It's for like 5 months from now, so prices will probably drop. I just want to research first.

Yeah, but that's in USD, not Canadian Funny Money.

500 Canadian dollars = 410.88 U.S. dollars

Between Asz's qualifications and t0w's conversion, I think we're within the bounds

Also, there's a 37" Vizio 720p set that you can get for $400 US or there abouts.
