An unusually restrained Will Forte plays an American true crime podcaster
Joss Wedon in the Firefly DVD commentary talks about hiring comedic actors for dramatic roles.
The thought being if you know comedy, you know drama. But knowing drama doesn't translate to comedy.
Robin Williams is probably the clearest cut example of the former.
Steve Martin can look and act terrifying when he wants to.

Rodney Dangerfield was absolutely terrifying in Natural Born Killers

Jim Carrey being another prime example. I never thought Adam Sandler was particularly good in his dramatic turn, but I seem to be the minority on that one.
And so on.

Spaceman is quite good.
Sandler is excellent in Punch Drunk Love it makes me sad he hasn’t done more like it as opposed to a lot of his output.
I can't really fault Sandler for his movie output. These days most of it is him getting the movie studio to fund him going to a really nice vacation spot with a bunch of his friends.
Doesn't mean it's stuff I actually want to watch, but I do admire the con.

I don't know that he will ever outdo The Waterboy though.
I enjoyed the first murder mystery movie he did with Jennifer Aniston. Haven’t watched the second.
I finished up Dead boy detective agency and I loved it. I now want to go back and rewatch Sandman before season 2 arrives. Oh when they showed
Despair
I actually squealed a little bit. Love the sandman universe and dbda gave me just a little more. A+ series.
Haven't finished Dead Boy Detective but the episode i saw last night made me full on cry many tears of manliness at one point. Although that may also be partially due to life stress. The "uptight" main character was a little over the top and annoying for a bit, but now I really enjoy him. It reminds me a little of that show where the ghost, vampire, and werewolf are roommates, but more fun and monster-of-the-week-y.

Bryan Cranston on Breaking Bad and Bob Odenkirk are both excellent examples as well.

I've watched the first two episodes. So far, it's not a patch on Lockwood & Co.
Don't look at me. I want(ed) both...

Will Smith, in some scenes in Fresh Prince, is also good at the drama.
Of course, this scene is helped by having Uncle Phil to play off of, who is one of the best actors I have ever scene.
The best part of this scene is that you can here the actress who plays Hilary crying in the background when Will and Phil are hugging each other.
That is also Ben Vereen if I'm not mistaken...

Yup. Geordi La Forge's dad.... That guy gets around.
We're enjoying Bodkin (chipper American true crime podcaster, jaded Irish investigative reporter and green researcher investigate an old murder in a little Irish village). It has shades of The Guard and Deadloch, but it is subverting a lot of obvious stereotypes. It is billed as a comedy drama, but it biases slightly more towards drama than comedy for me.
Watched it last week, it’s excellent from start to finish.

Looks like a shameless cash out, but I'll watch it.
All I can think of.
The eight show is quite good.

I'd bet good money that the trailer is all you need to watch.

"Get the f*ck outta here!" "No I can not."

I think I want to cancel Netflix. Enable me...?

Do it
I canceled Netflix months ago and haven't missed it.
I did too. But then I realized T-Mobile gives us a free version of their most basic plan so we have that but I don’t remember when I last watched something.
