Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Ironic that we were discussing Warrior Nun on page 666. I generally can't stand the reluctant hero trope for more than 60 seconds, but I stuck with the first season of that show for the mystery, decent acting, and a lot of pretty faces.

I was 'meh' on the first warrior nun, and was trying to psych myself up to try and watch the 2nd one... i can't imagine a 3rd based on the trailers

I enjoyed both series of Warrior Nun and thought they'd wrapped it up quite well in S2 so if you are enjoying S1 it is worth seeing S2.

Netflix must have decided the dark war came ;P

We finished Wednesday last night and loved it. Left things open for the future but resolved the season's overarching mystery pretty well.

I was honestly surprised Warrior Nun got a second season at all, but we bailed on the first season after the main character's hesitation and whining got to be too much for us. Basically I wanted some Warrior Nunning right away, not an entire season dedicated to going back and forth as to whether Warrior Nunning was right for her before she inevitably accepts her role.

Same here. Make with the warrior nunning already. I got things to do.

Dragon Age: Absolution is up for anyone who needs a Dragon Age hit.

It's ok. If you need some of that narcotic, it is that. If you don't, I would avoid it.

Spoiler:

But I needed a hit.

That got suggested to me after I watched Dragon Prince. Is it good?

I'm four episodes into Absolution and am enjoying it more than the other Netflix animated shows I've tried (Castlevania, Voltron, Dragon Prince, The Witcher). I'm heavily invested in Dragon Age's world though, so that helps. Still, it feels like the dialogue has a bit more energy to it than those others. Maybe that's just my bias showing though.

Definitely your love for the world. I found it lacking and fairly uninteresting compared to the other shows you listed. Would I watch more if more was released? No doubt.

I liked it. I'm not a big Dragon Age guy but it was fun. Also it's only 6 30min episodes so not a huge time investment.

And apparently, there are some nods to Dragon Age:Dreadwolf in there.

I enjoyed Slumberland. An 11-year-old girl loses her father and tries to find him again in the land of dreams with help from a dream outlaw while running from the dream police. There is a lot of heart and some fun special effects and surprisingly good acting from Jason Mamoa and the guy from The I.T. Crowd. I'll probably watch it again with my kids when they are older and I won't mind.

You really have to be a Dragon Age fan. It fiends really explain the world at all. And even if you are, I would say it’s pretty mediocre. The plot didn’t make sense until the last episode, so much that I didn’t understand why the characters were going along with the plan or what I as the viewer was supposed to think.

But if you need a hit of Dragon Age, you ain’t getting Dreadwolf for a few years at least. And I needed the hit.

Yeah I finished Absolution and it feels like a lot of setup for Dreadwolf, even if this show’s plot ends up only being a footnote in the game. There’s a reveal at the end that’ll resonate if you played Dragon Age 2. I hope one or more of these characters shows up the game. A party member would be even better. But if you’re not invested Dragon Age, it’s not particularly mind-blowing.

If you enjoy slow moving, nothing really happens shows that end up making you feel calm and with a pleasant feeling like Midnight diner I can recommend the korean show “would you like a cup of coffee”. Very pleasant. Very nice.

Ooooo! Will check that out.

Tried and failed to get through the first episode of Exception. The whole hamfisted moral dilemma of "is a 3d printed human a human?" thing has been trod way too often and done so much better just about everywhere.

YESSSSS! Not as good as Midnight Diner on first impression, but super great and in that neighborhood.

The critic episode is phenomenal.

Why are they putting a wig in that robot?

I smiled a bit and maybe laughed once ... could be a decent sit com

That '90s Show

del Toro’s Pinocchio is absolutely magical and wonderful. It even enthralled my 14 year old. Wonderful.

Witcher: Blood Origin is quite good. They can keep making shows in the Witcher universe, and I will be happy.

I thought it was very mediocre. It clearly needed more episodes to develop the characters.

Do we have a specific thread for Glass Onion? or should I complain here?

I am enjoying the second series of Alice in Borderland to the extent I might go and seek out the Manga.

Oooh, I meant to check the first season out, but there's always too many shows.

I saw the second season was available so went back and rewatched the first. There was a lot I forgot about season 1 so really glad I did. On to season 2!

Very satisfied with season 2 of alice in borderland. Great ending.
