Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Legion who knows silat? Telepathic silat!?

I just watched all of Car Masters, Rust to Riches. Don't really know why. Netflix is trying to get into car reality shows (seemingly on the cheap vs Grand Tour), and while the content is really not good from a car perspective, they're decent background noise.

I hold a similar opinion re episodes of Blaze and the Monster Machines.

Dammit Netflix, I said let me watch Avatar. I didn't mean like that.

Take a look at the people involved. It includes some original alum.

I am cautiously optimistic but I'd rather they just make a 3rd animated series with the bending world's equivalent of the modern day.

I'm not very optimistic. I don't see what you gain from making this into a live action series. I think you lose a lot of the energy and color of the original in exchange for....?

I dunno man, I just don't think you're going to find a teen actor with the comic timing and range of expression as cell-shaded Sokka.

Not to mention that I haven't been super impressed with their most recent shows. Voltron and Dragon Prince have been...fine. Not bad, just fine.

...getting even more people to pay attention to/watch the original.

I finished season 2 of American Vandal last night and it was really good, definitely on par with season 1, IMO. I will say that it seems to take a slightly more serious tone at the expense of some of the humor from season 1, but I don't think it detracts. There is a still a really good mystery underneath it all with strong characters, and a great eye for detail of the high school experience in 2018. Don't let the gross out premise dissuade you from watching it. This is one of the best series Netflix has put out.

Just finished The Dragon Prince and found it enjoyable. The storytelling is very good and the show moves at an above average pace, hooking you into the plot in the first episode. I really like the character's as well and they provide comedic relief as well as some genuine sad and threatening moments. I will also say I really like the villain of the show. Lawful Evil makes the best villains imho.

It took me just a bit to get used to the low frame rate animation as it doesn't feel real smooth at first but you get used to it quickly. The color palettes, the beautiful outdoor scenes, as well as the action and diversity in the characters helps cover the low frames well and you soon don't notice.

I wish there had been a few more episodes as well but all in all worth the watch. So far one of my favorite characters is General Amaya. I really hope they have more of her in season 2. She's a really cool character.

Are Voltron and Dragon Prince in a similar category? Like if I think Voltron is awesome, will I probably enjoy Dragon Prince?

My thing is that I haven't gotten around to watching the original series because I'm a procrastinator and it's not on any streaming services at the moment. I'd rather see the original, even if the live action version is solid. Maybe this means they're going to get Avatar and Korra up on Netflix at some point? That'd be sweet.

There's definitely a similar feel, although I wouldn't know what from Voltron appeals to you. There are parts of both that I really like, particularly characterization (Voltron is a minor miracle considering they stuck with the original cast of three identical dudes, a fat dude, and Pidge). But honestly, everything they've done since AtLA has felt a touch off. Even Korra, which has some seriously great moments, never really came all the way together for me.

Enjoying first couple Dragon Prince episodes! Fun!

I've been watching "Au service de la France" or "A very secret service" and it's turning out to be really, really, good. At once goofy and absurdly funny it is mixing with a deep and twisting story line about catching nazi collaborators and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

OMG, it's so good. It's the perfect palate cleanser for me after finishing The Americans and Ozarks back-to-back.

The scene with the CIA talking about Kennedy just destroyed me.

It's some amazingly good and absurd satire.

La femme?

It's soooooo good! When the Quebecois show up I nearly fell out of my chair.

The Endless is one of the best Lovecraft esque movies I've seen in a long time. Recommended if you dig that kind of weird horror foreboding kind of thing.

Ooh, I know what I'm watching tonight. Thanks!

Is there any way to remove items from your 'continue watching' list? I mentioned it before, but Black Mirror is just stuck there, even though I've watched every episode...

Finally got back to Travelers after a vacation and detour through The Good Place and Iron Fist.

Season 2 is great. Just finished 209, Update. Poor Philip. Tough to be a historian.

My family and I are really digging Atypical. It's a lot more heartfelt than I thought it would be. Still very "teevee," but quite good.

Not that I know of but it will go away sooner or later. It doesn't really make any sense. I had one show stuck there for nearly a year after I removef it from my list. I finished Anne with E and it went away after I watched the last episode but just came back a few days ago. One of the shows I was currently watching but slacked on for a month vanished.

You're making it even with Rappaport?

Three episodes into Maniac and boy does this give me a FX's Legion vibe only sans mutant powers.

The Endless is worth watching, but it's a slow burn requiring patience. The Lovecraft allusion wasn't evident at first, but it becomes clear that

Spoiler:

The Dunwich Horror is a source of inspiration.

Really enjoying it so far. The first episode is a bit slow, but the next episodes move things along and have some very funny bits. Absolutely incredible set dressing work.

Not really everybody's cup of tea, but it will probably appeal to you if you liked Legion.

I'm currently watching season 2 of Legion, and figured I needed to finish it before starting Maniac. They look visually and tonally similar, and I'd rather get Legion out of my head before starting anything else like it.

You can remove items from your Netflix watch history, which will remove it from your Continue Watching list, but I believe that also affects recommendations (if you care in the least about Netflix recommendations in the first place!).

Here's the page:

https://www.netflix.com/viewingactivity

You can do the same for Amazon videos here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/yourstore/...

The Amazon list includes a checkbox for each item to prevent that item from affecting recommendations without removing it from your history altogether.
