Random non sequitur posts catch-all thread

Ah, I see you work at Alyona Ivanovna's!

Well, it doesn't feel like a wholesome job. That's for sure. I'm making steps towards working somewhere I can give rather than take. Boss man gets annoyed that I'm honest, but I have customers tell me they come back to see me, specifically, because I don't rip them off. Who knows?

I try to keep level-headed by reminding myself that it's really the customer's responsibility to sell their stuff, that we are a last resort if they aren't seeking top dollar. Still, yikes.

And I could have read into the above completely incorrectly. I only have the faintest knowledge of the name/story referenced. But hey, I'm nodding off here and felt like a small word-vomit anyway.

'Night all

What sane person goes into battle wearing gold armor? Yet we do it.

All fictionals are titans growing vast barrels of awesomeness.
Except the weak, but even then they are extraordinarily weak, if not by fact, then by emphasis.
Except the unloved by their authors, but even they are stars shining in infinite blackness.
The only normals are those unseen on stage.

Was that meant for the Shalalm Baskur thread? Too much correct spelling, for that, I guess.

The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl is so good! But so bad. But so good!

It is a cold rainy day. I am trapped inside with the children.

Will any of us make it out alive?

Did any of you survive?

My money is on your youngest. She's a survivor and the rest of you are SOFT.

Rewatching Miami Vice and remembering how idiosyncratic Michael Mann's style of direction is. The movies aren't always great, but they, especially his crime films, have a really great look that I love.

Movie or show? He worked on both.

have you seen Manhunter? Decent precursor to Silence of the Lambs, but it captures the neon atmosphere of the 80s so perfectly.

Then watch Red Dragon and the Hannibal series, both of which cover the same book.

That motherf*cker is hardcore.

This is one of those weekends where I am counting the minutes until work starts on Monday.

Since all of our cats are named after TV and movie characters, talking about their shenanigans sounds like the weirdest cross-over fan-fic.

The Colin Farrell/Jamie Foxx movie. Definite C+, at best. That cover of "In the Air Tonight" they used is criminal.

I will! I'm taking the week off, and decided to catch up on a bunch of movies I wanted to see, but didn't. At the moment, my list includes LEGO Batman, Blackhat, Contagion, the Planet of the Apes trilogy (the most recent one), Baby Driver and Rogue One.

Not sure what I've been doing online to suggest that I might want to hire a mini digger.

I think I'm completely over Dota 2. I've logged over 1000 hours on that dumb game, and at least double that on other version not available on Steam (HoN, Warcraft 3). I had a nice long break when Overwatch released, but jumped back in for a few rounds this week when an old online-friend messaged me out of the blue with an invite.

Sure, it was nice chatting via voice in Discord and catching up but I just don't care for the game any more. My friends are pretty cool, but I started to hear them get way too frustrated and began hearing other players moan and complain. Sure, being in a 40+ minute-long game on the losing end isn't fun, I get it, but that's why I think I'm done. I'm not going to turn into somebody who abuses teammates and takes their frustration out on other players. I've been there, that's not me.

I told them tonight I don't really enjoy the game now. I offered some alternatives (Battlerite looks cool!), but they didn't seem keen at all. This circle almost exclusively plays Dota, and we don't chat much outside of that. I hope we don't lose contact if, in the future, I deny their invitations.

On the bright side: This is a game which stole so much time from me. Which made me so upset, grumpy, angry, and depressed. I always thought if I reinstalled I'd become hopelessly addicted again. Apparently the opposite happened.

BEHOLD.

I can say good things about LEGO Batman and Rogue One, didn't watch the others.

I also see no picture in Oily's post.

Broken image is broken.

Strange, not broken for me.

I'm seeing a circle with a horizontal rectangle inside it, similar to a "do not enter" traffic sign.

Might be a weird google photo permission thing.

I stuck it in my GWJ folder and everything in there should be viewable by everyone.

better?

Well, that's horrifying.

Tale of Wonders is a majestic cat boy. He can play the pan flute. And also likes stealing coins from goblins.
