Random non sequitur posts catch-all thread

I won a kayak at a leinenkugel's sponsored bike ride yesterday. Already own two, but I suppose it would be nice to have a guest kayak

Squats are evil things that are conspiring to make sure I can't get off the toilet without assistance.

Why did I watch the third Transformers movie? Seriously, what was I expecting? The second one was the worst big budget movie I had ever seen. I only say "was the worst" because I've now seen the third movie. So dumb.

As it turns out Transformers 3 wasn't even the worst movie I watched today since I just finished watching Resident Evil Retribution. Ugh.

Honest question: why? Was there some part of you that thought any of those movies would be good?

Why? Mostly boredom and morbid curiosity. In both cases, I was doing work which involves lots of running Matlab macros. So, I have lots of dead time so I usually have a movie or something in the background that I don't really need to pay attention to. Did I expect either to be any good? Not at all but both of these movies are so much worse than I ever could have expected. I enjoy a bad movie from time to time (two of the three podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis are about bad movies) but these were just shockingly bad.

I should have bought an iPod desk dock/speaker system a long time ago. Work is so much more enjoyable when you have the FEZ soundtrack playing while staring at spreadsheets.

Noise cancelling headphones and video game soundtracks are the reason that work hasn't turned me into a gibbering maniac in a padded room (yet)

Xkcd: Lies! It's to discover the secret of the monolith!

There's a character called "Amarant" in Final Fantasy IX, when you first learn his name, he introduces himself thusly: "There are some who call me the Flaming Amarant."

Of course, being a early Final Fantasy game, you can rename the characters. I always wanted to name him "Moe" and then hear him say his introduction.

Interpol's "Turn on the Bright Lights" was something really special. Even ten years on, it's still amazing. Also, why do I want to listen to something so dark and sad when I'm so happy that the marathon bombers were caught?

Because it's a f*cking genius album.

Word sister!

Antics is pretty excellent as well, but not as good as Turn on the Bright Lights,

In Antics they became self-aware. You can hear their heads swelling

True, I still quite like it though.

I stayed up until 2am playing Link to the Past on my SNES.

My grandma died the weekend. Kind of sad week for the family, but life goes on.

I just spent $60 on stickers.

What kind of stickers? Fuzzy Friendship is Magic stickers? Or grown up stickers for labelling spice jars and boxes? (I hope it's MLP stickers - that would be a lot more fun than spice jar labels).

IT Crowd stickers and Dr Who stickers and FRINGE stickers and Walking Dead stickers...

Delivery: Acquired!

They're about 3" each, so ya know.

Up until last night if you asked me what video game I wanted made I would have said a console reboot of Wing Commander. After watching Django Unchained I want Red Dead Django.

Pro tip: If you're looking for a small folding seat to carry in a photography backpack "packable stool" is not the search term you want to use. That is all.

Yeah; those are often too highly wound. You might want to try looking for "loose stool" instead.

Also, it's worth investing in a waterproof version. Try "dry stool"

If you're going to dump all over us, don't even join the conversation.

This thread has really gone to sh*t.

Maybe if you guys took it seriously, instead of just farting around...

Seems like every other thread now there's a dark streak of these puns; It fills them up like so much hot, moist air. Seems like most of you are just talking out of your asses.

Anyone wonder about the stats of the love/loathe threads? I noticed the loathe thread is currently ahead by about 1000ish posts, and was started just under a year after the love thread was created. Do we tend to 'loathe' more than we 'love' as a community?

I'd be really interested in seeing a timeline for both threads, when they're busiest, when they're quietest, how they compare to one another. I think that'd be fascinating.

I think we've discussed this before; a particular post to the loathe thread tends to get responses of commiseration, how to help, etc, and tends to engender more conversation than "hey, this thing is cool!" "yeah!"

That, and like how I try to temper online reviews, people are much more likely to want to vocalize after negative experiences.

So I'm trying this World of Warcraft thing. Let's see if I live to regret it.

I take it that this is your first time in MrDevil? Have you played any other mmo before?

Let us know how it goes, I'm curious how it feels to new blood here in 2013.

Yeah, first time with WoW. I've dabbled in Warhammer Online, LOTRO, Eve and Guild Wars 1/2.

Trying out an Undead Warlock, still level 4. So far the main things that strike me are is that it's really ugly and it's annoying that I can't use skills while running, oh and if you click on something that's out of interaction range it just tells you instead of moving you closer. A friend did give me 50 gold which I'm sure will come in useful when I find somewhere to spend it.
