Random non sequitur posts catch-all thread

Neither a loathe nor a love so I guess this goes here.

I had to turn down the job offer in Lloydminster. Great paper, packed newsroom, low salary and a high cost of living. Dang. That high cost of living is like math, ya know? You do the math (add up bills) and BAM. More math. I tell's ya, math always gets ya.

So, onto more job searching! I'm gettin' back at 'er!

Today I learned that, up until a few months ago, Tanglebones was disposing of his trash via pneumatic tube.

So astonishing that I had to post twice.

Boy, did the bank hate him too.

Poor pneuman.

I can't even determine what that means...

Well, technically I just dropped it in a regular garbage shaft, and then it was conveyed via pneumatic tube..

Tanglebones used to live on Roosevelt Island in New York City. During the planning phase for development of that island, it was determined that the quality of life would be detrimentally affected by the presence of garbage trucks, so a pneumatic tube system was built to move the trash off the island.

That's no island...it's a space station.

How fast can an argument be lost on the Internet? #BeforeYouEvenBegin

In an hour I am having lunch with my boss's boss's boss (we're friends, at any rate) to discuss compensation and any hope I have for advancement in the future. He doesn't know that yet (he probably suspects, though). I am so nervous I could eat a tree. Or projectile vomit. Either way, really.

You can do both. That way you're vomiting up splinters like some kind of mulching machine gun. :p

That's showing you think outside the vomit box!

I think you've just explained my wife's attraction to both Elijah Wood and me

Just finished my 2 month total basement renovation project, including new drywall, 220 sq feet of ceramic tile, a ton of painting and some stupendously annoying finishing. It looks fantastic, and if I ever decide to take on something like this again, someone shoot me.

(Of course I saved $5000 or more by doing it myself, but...)

Edit: Here's a shot of the lounge with my lovely wife relaxing in the background. Only thing missing is the artwork she has on order. Oh, and I need to trim the window and order blinds. Damn, forgot about that, guess I'm not completely done after all

Looks great!

(hey, we have a pair of those shelf lamps too)

That looks amazingly cozy.
