So, a weird squeaking noise woke me up at about 5am on Wednesday. Said nose was coming from my cupboard, not knowing what to expect I had a look and in among my shoes on the bottom I found Cupboard Cat.

One of our cats decided it was an appropriate place to have her litter, unfortunately of the two born only this one survived the night. And I can't convince her to move out of my cupboard, so I'm stuck with them for a couple weeks.

Allow me to be the first to offer my congratu-SQUEEEEE!!!-tions.

And me the second.

I had two generations of kittens born in the same closet two years apart.

My mom was a crazy-cat lady (love you mom, but man...) and I've had kittens born in my sock drawer. One morning, I open drawer I see Mom Cat looking up at me with this, "What?" expression and four mewling kittens kicking each other in the head for the best nipple placement. Whee.

Another time I woke up to the sounds of mewling newborn kittens. I went back to bed without bothering to look.

Hmm, crazy-cat lady

Or crazy cat-lady

? I grew up in the country and lots of cats was a practical matter. I wish my kids could grow up with lots of litters of kittens too. Although it is nice they don't have to deal with the death so much.

I never intended to be that "crazy cat person". I didn't even grow up with them (my mom hates 'em). For reasons way too long to get into here I seem to be a cat magnet. People I've know have asked me to take care of their cat until they get "settled" in a new place/situation/whatever. "only for a few weeks", they've said.

These people never come back and bingo, I'm "that crazy cat person" aka a soft touch.

What can you do?

They tend to jump out of the pan when you fry them.

Souffles work better.

I've found that Twitter has changed how I expect people to respond in other communication mediums.

I'm finding I get a little tense if I don't get a response quickly to either email or SMS...

I don't like it in myself :/

I can't be the only one to immediately head to that thread to see for myself, can I?

No, you weren't the only one.

I openly admit to being part of it, but it's kind of ridiculous how much of pop culture today is making money off the "nostalgia" of the 30-and-under set.

Anyone know anything about audio recording/mixing? I started a thread on the tech and help forum, but thought maybe I'd hit more people here and I'm not sure that it really is the same kind of tech help that is going on over there.

Anyway, what would I need to get my 14yo daughter to be able to record her electric guitar, drums and keyboard into the PC/Mac then mix them, then save that in a decent audio format? Anyone know of an inexpensive way to make that happen and what hardware, cabling and software I would need?

I just realized that the CD that Will Smith keeps playing in I Am Legend is Bob Marley's Legend.

His character had so much appreciation for the musician he named his daughter after him.

3/4's of a great movie since I never really liked the ending, but the dog always gets me.

I should be working, but all I can think about is sushi and how much I'd like to eat my own weight in tuna sashimi. Blarg.

My name is Tanglebones, and I approve this message.

Possibly belongs in one of the confession threads, but:
I've had sushi once, and I don't think the piece I had was of the raw variety. It was merely "okay." I've never had sashimi.

Name the time and place, and I'm there.

Is there such a thing as non-raw sushi?

Yes, there is. The term "sushi" actually refers to the rice preparation, and a lot of sushi is cooked, like delicious eel sushi.

Sushi: Cold cooked rice dressed with vinegar that is shaped into bite-sized pieces and topped with raw or cooked fish, or formed into a roll with fish, egg, or vegetables and wrapped in seaweed.

Sashimi: A Japanese dish of bite-sized pieces of raw fish eaten with soy sauce and horseradish paste: "tuna sashimi".
